An old friend brought me here 2010, I was a bit skeptical about it because it was very unusual from my daily.. I eventually left before the speaker and the free vegetarian dinner but my friend brought me some of the foods they served and it wasn't bad. Soo.. I ended up going back, the second time i was there i arived after the Mantra meditation (chanting/singing) and the senior Swami they had visiting really sparked an interest and his words resonated with my spiritual journey. The vegetarian dinner was on point that night to add the cherry on top. I've been inviting new friends and old to this great place and they also continue to go. (FREE VEGETARIAN DINNER Thursday night, cant go wrong) Also a GREAT INDIA STYLE GIFT SHOP !! I've been visiting the temple and next door Krishna Lounge every Thursday night as much is i can. Had Yet Another excellent time at the Hare Krishna Temple. This time around i was invited by one of the devotees to Krishna to come by for their celebration of Radhastami. I was beautiful and the ambience certainly is a true moment to cherish. I enjoyed myself very much and at the end of it, i was at peace. Thank you for another wonderful time! --- BTW: food was so good! Vegeterian meal of course but still very good. they serve us: Rice, Lentils, Egg plant in tomato sauce, green beans and potatoes, samosas with sweet chutney, dessert cake, indian sweet rice and juice! Best Indian food in San Diego hands down. $5 all you can eat vegetarian cuisine filled with love and prayers for Sunday Night Feast. A highly recommended experience!!! I always feel so good after eating here, both physically and spiritually. Seriously the food is the bomb and its such a nominal donation its just ridiculous. Beautiful art abounds the facility. As an 18 year old vegetarian with very little expendable income, the Hare Krishna temple was a life saver. $6 for an endless vegetarian feast every weekday? Score. Fast forward five years and they have different hours, but the same great, home cooking. They specialize in authentic Indian food. It's typically spicy and always hearty. It comes with three full courses: soup/salad, dinner, and dessert. They make homemade, low-fat dressing for their salads, extremely tasty soups (usually a bean or lentil concoction), great curries and a dessert that usually consists of halva or some kind of rice pudding. If you decide to check this place out, keep in mind that it's a temple. I'm not a follower of the Krishna faith, but I've got an open mind and the setting is quite peaceful if you can allow yourself to feel comfortable. Nobody will bug you about converting, they're just stoked you're helping their cause. read more

These temple goers know how to party!! One of the times I visited the temple, they had a concert!! This dude on tour got up and played a guitar, processed through a rack system to make it sound like a sitar. He then sang original compositions of "Hare Krishna, Krishna Hare..." And you better believe everyone got up and danced!! HOLY COW! That was fun!!!! I had a chance to sit down and speak with them one morning at the temple. They were SOOOOOO kind to me. Not intrusive, not confrontational. I have a degree in Religious Studies so we sparked up a good hour of pleasant conversation. The food is also great!! For serious. I've eaten their food a dozen or so times. Great for the stomach, I never got sick. If youre eating at the temple, please offer a nice donation. For all that the Hare Krishnas do, and as little they ask for in return, theyre worth it. read more

I not only ate at the temple I knew one of the devotees there and rumor had it he not only "made out" in the temple courtyard one night but he actually had sex in the bushes with one of the female guests or new devotees! I don't know whether that was true or not. There is a high attrition rate among devotees due to having to control themselves in ways none of them were expecting like no illicit sex, not gambling, not taking intoxication etc. so take it easy on them, they should be treated with respect like any other group of priests, nuns, monks or whatevers. They are also among the friendliest group of people around anywhere, genuinely interested and sincerely nice folks. read more
