So this tent is is known as the "Ox Tent" as more than 125 oxen are eaten here during Oktoberfest. The names and weights of all the oxen eaten here are posted on a sign inside the tent next to the roasting ox. Johann Rössler had his beer license revoked in 1892 due to a lack of toilets for guests which obviously resulted in an unpleasant experience for guests. Rössler lacked the money necessary for the required updates so the Ochsenbraterei did not operate at the Wiesn again until 1898. The Ochsenbraterei has been owned by the Spaten-Franziskaner brewery since 1980 and the brewery opened the current new festival hall in 2017 with the beautiful blue and white tent. The delicious ox dishes are all very nice and even if you can't find a seat at a table the famous ox sandwich can also be had by ordering it from the "secret" side door where you stand in one line to pay and get a ticket and then in another line nearest to the roasting ox to hand your ticket over to get your sandwich. The Italians arrive a week early here before the traditional Italian Week and have a large group of veteran Wiesn festival fans that have been attending the fun here for decades. The service here was definitely the best I had at any of the tents but my table had a few folks that our server worked with so we probably got a little extra attention because of that. We felt like we were sitting down with family. Although, they didn't have a menu in English, our server was happy to assist with our attempts at translating. The speatzle was excellent. We also had a cheese and bread plate which was a spread cheese in olive oil and onion slices. The food was good and on par for pricing in the area. The beer was good value and as always, cheaper than the water! Parking is limited to a few spaces out front in the street and a couple spaces designated in the hotel parking spots next door. I got one of the specials, which was a schnitzel with ham and cheese on top, with a vodka sauce-like topping. At the end of the meal, the waitress brought complementary schnapps for all of us.
