Last December, I made an appointment with UTSW Irving for my yearly well woman exam. I have a high deductible plan so I know better not to ask or bring up any symptoms not well woman and preventative related because it will be out of pocket for me and will be all applied to my deductible. During my visit, the physician assistant asked me about hormone therapy treatment and if I have any thoughts about it. She brought it up, not me. So I politely said I'm not ready yet and I need to research about it. She then cancels my pap-smear stating that since it was normal last year let's skip it this year and that she will do a pelvic exam instead. Well February came and I received a bill for a regular office visit that day. I was very confused at first and I thought it was incorrectly billed. Many calls and letters to their billing department and patients assistant department later, I was told that yes there were two cpt codes that day. I argued that is not right and that I never approved the regular office visit nor made aware of. I was repeatedly told that the billing department did it correctly. I messaged the PA directly to let her know that I was billed incorrectly. She didn't even bother to message me back and had her billing department callme back and was told that the same thing and that the bill was correct. I wrote letters to their patient assistance department only to be told that yes the bill was correct . On my last letter, I asked them to make this right and that shame on them for allowing this type of practices and that I am being billed for something that I didn't ask for and was simply answering the PA's question politely and didn't realize she snucked in another billable code. There was no informed consent nor she did not make me aware that she was billing another code. Be aware of large medical groups like UTSW. They expect their docs and medical staff to upsell you anything while making you think that they care. Preventive reimbursements are not enough that they have to multi bill other codes. They are all about revenues and all they care is what they can bill your insurance and/or you. It is sad that from now on I have to think twice if a doctor asks me how I am feeling or any changes in my health lately. They are fishing for something they can orders tests for and will bill your insurance and/or you without consent or making you aware that it's outside your appointment.

I always thought that BSW was a fantastic facility with ethical standards and values. Well, boy I…read morewas wrong. My aunt is in there right now. I found her unresponsive in her bedroom last Tuesday morning and I did not hesitate to send her to BSW. I remember that the EMTs asked why I wanted to take her there, but I just automatically said I have heard they are the best. I WAS WRONG - at least in the realm of mental health issues. You will lose all rights to your loved one if you get BSW involved. Yesterday, my review went from 5 to 1. My aunt was abused by my father-in-law in Richmond, Virginia and I figured it out based on my aunt selling her home in West Virginia (which she would never have done unless something was wrong). I went to Virginia, helped her get away from an abusive caregiver, and she was doing so well here in Ft. Worth getting stronger and better so she could return to all of her friends in West Virginia (where she has lived for 88 years). The BSW physiatrist said that with all the Doctors we were using to help get her stronger, she may have had a trigger with something that happened and she was reliving the trauma. She was in a catatonic state and with low dosages of benzodiazepines, she would come out and then with the reduced anxiety, she could work on what happened. My aunt was doing great and suddenly, yesterday, I was told that my aunt could make her own medical decisions, she had revoked my HIPPA rights, and I could not be in the room whenever any of her care was discussed. And BSW was so nasty that they brought two BWS police to stand outside her room while they told me that I could no longer be involved in her care. I have cared for her every day since she got out of her abusive situation. I was shocked and didn't really know what to do. I have no idea what is going on. My Aunt lives with me, but I now have no idea even where she is. It is like they have kidnapped my aunt by giving her mind-altering drugs and saying that she can now make her medical decisions, but she can't even get out of the bed to go to brush her teeth. I found out through other people that they want her to go to an In-house rehabilitation facility and be returned to West Virginia to go to a nursing home, which is EXACTLY what we were working on doing. Except, we were waiting for an assisted living facility because she just needs help with a few daily tasks. Now, I guess they have her so drugged that she can make her own medical decisions, but she needs to get stronger so she can go to a nursing home in West Virginia. Do not go to this hospital if you are concerned about a loved one's mental health. They are horrible. I was the one person who went to her defense when she was being abused and then BSW got hold of her and now I guess she is going to be a ward of the State of Texas because I am her only living relative and I know she loves West Virginia. They have known her for 4 days, have her on mind altering drugs but she can make her own medical decisions. The plan that they are working on behind my back is exactly what we were working on providing and we were just waiting on a room to become available at the Assisted Living facility. My aunt, in her right mind, knows all of this. If she doesn't remember, then she is not able to make her own medical decisions. BUT I CAN'T BE A PART OF MAKING IT HAPPEN. This hospital is the reason people with possible mental health issues should stay away or your family will not be able to help you get the help that you need. They will turn your family against you, scare you with police officers as they tell you to get away from your family member that you are asking for help with. PLEASE, PLEASE do not go here. You will have your heart broken and you will lose a person that you love. Please do not go to this hospital.

He's a very caring doctor with a great bedside manner, and he has a great staff including another doctor and two PAs. This business was an "urgent care center" before the genre was even known as that, and it's very good in that regard. This clinic will work with you in any way they can in terms of insurance or payment upon services rendered, although it is important to note that they do not handle worker's comp patients. The waiting room is clean and well lit, and exam rooms are plentiful. They don't keep really late hours like a CareNow or the like, but if you can visit when they're open, I think you'll like the experience.
