Impeccable service here! I was on the hunt for a special pair of cuff links for my special guy's…read morebirthday, and a Yelp search revealed this spot not far from my 'hood. I decided to pop in on a whim and see what they had. I noticed a sign on the door that said they had a "work dog" inside, which immediately made me joyous. I was even happier that she (I think her name was Jazz!), was the sweetest, most calm dog ever and hung out with me while I shopped. The staff member (who I believe was the owner), was great at keeping her close by, but I made it clear that I welcomed her furry little presence! I was asked right away if I needed help and was led to their fantastic selection of cuff links. Thy source them out of the UK and I believe Texas. Their selection is plentiful - classy and quirky and tailored to all personality types. They have sports one and occupations and I ended up selecting an awesome pair of silver Lego pieces. I mentioned my boyfriend was an MMA trainer and he offered to order in some boxing glove cuff links for us - wonderful customer service! I also picked up a gorgeous Nautica tie (at half off!) and some super cool dinosaur socks for the birthday boy. They have an amazing selection of men's grooming products including beard grooming supplies, European razors and a whole wall of other goodies. They also carry a ton of fun and colourful socks and an insane amount of men's underwear (the second staff member is your go to guy for men's underwear. He admits to owning hundreds of pairs!). They also sell shirts and other accessories. If you're on the hunt for a guy who loves quality and individual gifts, stop by. The products were great but the staff were even better. Can't wait for an excuse to return!

We were greeted right away by an eager salesman who was friendly and knowledgable. The store was very busy, but he still managed to juggle all of the customers in a professional manner, all by himself. I gotta say, they have some fine threads in this store (DKNY etc). The small space is divided into two sections: fancy and casual; but even the casual section has clothes that would be appropriate for the office or "nicer than casual but not quite dressy" nights out. We browsed for a good half hour, and the employee was very good at making appropriate recommendations for the 3 very different guys that I was shopping with. He read their cues to know what each of them was looking for but was not pushy or trying to boost sales by recommending the most expensive items. Any kind of clothing they offer (such as shirts, dress shirts, suits and ties) comes in a wide variety of colours, so this would be a great "one stop shop" to pick out an entire outfit where everything matches. The colours are also very "in" this spring and there are even fancy shorts and dressy short sleeved shirts. Prices are higher, but they are applicable to the designer labels that L'Hexagone carries. It would be appropriate to shop here for parties, clothing for the office, weddings or anything that requires a little more than jeans and the same shirt you have worn to every single party last year. I had a good experience in this store and will be back to dress my boyfriend for all of the weddings we are going to this summer!

I'm glad Ottawa has some clothing stores with styles outside the GAP, AE, Old Navy, etc. Not that there's anything wrong with those stores but they're pretty boring. Schad carries a nice balance of North American and European brands. The unfortunate thing about some of the North American brands is that they've been run into the ground since the Jersey Shore phenomenon! Brands like Ed Hardy and Affliction are carried here and unfortunately Dom Rebel (based out of Montreal) has been styling a lot of shirts like them recently. Some of the other brands that I'm glad they have include Diesel, Energie, Sand and J Lindeberg. It's not for everyone but I do get complimented regularly. I believe there is a slight mark up on these brands compared to some of the other stores I've been in that carry these lines in Toronto and Montreal but it's not that much and the store owner and the staff are super friendly and super helpful. To get an idea, Chantel (the store owner) once tried on a dress for me that I was purchasing for a friend to give me an idea of what it would look like while being worn! That's pretty damn awesome!

They have a cute kids table at the back for colouring, which I thought was very considerate and welcoming for families. Expect high prices here. I am always disappointed when boutiques have so many small sizes. Larger people like nice things and have money too ;) (just sayin')

However, I'm not as stoked about it because most merchandise at Saks OFF 5TH are specifically for Saks OFF 5TH and were never in Saks Fifth Avenue (like how the stuff at the Banana Republic Factory Store was never actually in the Banana Republic retail store). That being said, Saks OFF 5TH does occasionally have some pieces that were in Saks Fifth Avenue for a fraction of the price. However, at the end of the day, 70% off a $2000 dress is still $600, which is still too rich for my blood, lol (this is a real example, although from the Kanata Saks OFF 5TH - it was a beautiful Roland Mouret dress that I still dream about. Luckily it was 4 sizes too big for me, so I didn't have to do any soul searching, haha). Ok, let's talk about this specific location downtown. It's brand spanking new and they are still not completely finished renovating at the time of the writing of this review. Everything is really neatly organized. I was there a little bit before lunch time on a weekday and staff outnumbered customers. Maybe people just don't know about it yet. The change rooms are big and clean. They don't have doors but curtains. However, the curtains have little metal hooks on them and there are little metal rings on the wall, so you can "lock" your curtain. I thought that that was kind of cool. There is a large women's clothes section, a smaller men's clothes section and a smaller still children's clothes section. The women's shoe section is large, and the handbags section is decent. I think there's a men's shoe section as well, but I'm not entirely sure, as I did not check it out. It's a fun place to poke around. I'm glad that Ottawa is getting some new stores.

I like that it's one price and nothing else no extra's just one set price and everything and anything you chose is part of your price. The sizes go up to like a 60 size waist which is pretty cool as everyone is welcome here. The prices here are super reasonable for the quality you get! Service is extraordinarily and now the only thing we have to wait for is the suit.. ahaha the measurements were all taken and everything was picked out so all is left now is to wait for the final product .. will complete this review when We receive the final product. Urban…read moreOutfitters appear to use controversy to sell their stuff and apparently don't know, or worse, don't care that they try to profit off of other cultures, mental health, eating disorders, and general tragedy. They jump on trends and ride it for all it's worth - but then again, which companies don't? However, not a lot of people care about my perspective and that's cool. Objectively, Urban Outfitters is a good store and deserves a 4/5 rating. The store is spacious, well-maintained, and well stocked. The store is in a good location that is easily accessed by car, transit, or walking/biking. Urban Outfitters carry a wide range of items from clothing, clothing accessories, iPhone accessories, vinyl, and fun books. The items they do carry are of decent to good quality, a bit overpriced for some items, but you can't deny the quality. The staff are kind and helpful. Which is a nice surprise. I've been to the Urban Outfitters in Toronto and you'd think they are working in a high-end designer store the way they treat you. So it's cool that the staff here are respectful and helpful. So while I am conflicted by Urban Outfitters, a good store is a good store.

My rating isn't based on the store but more against other Urban Outfitters I've been to. From the outside the space looks huge but that's not the case when you walk in. The store seems very cramped and small. The store doesn't seem like it's laid out well from when you first walk in and it feels that way when walking around the store. I checked out some of the apartment/housing things and they definitely have some cool items but there just doesn't seem as much as other stores. Some of the other stores have lots of pieces that you can purchase. I went upstairs to check out some of the clothing as the last time I was at UO in Montreal there were some t-shirts I forgot to pick up. When I went to check if they were here they didn't have them but the MTL store seemed to have all the shirts this one had and more. The staff wasn't to friendly the day I went. One of the staff said hi and I said hi back and smiled and when I went to ask a question they just took off. I'll be back for sure but the store definitely doesn't have the charm that the other UO's I've been to...with the exception of the change room upstairs. That was pretty cool.
