HORRIBLE!! DAMAGED MY PROPERTY AND BECAME THREATENING (SEE ATTACHED EMAIL) SCARY!! Ironwood was hired to take down a couple of trees. They didn't manage the falling limbs properly, and they sheared off nearly half the limbs of another tree and damaged a shepherd's hook, solar lights and my clothesline. Derek said he'd refund some of my money, and promised to perform an annual deep-root fertilization on the damaged tree for 5 years. When I didn't receive the refund and he wouldn't respond, I said I may file a BBB complaint. See the attached threatening email. I finally received the partial refund, but now they won't call me back (I've left numerous messages) to do the fertilization. So I have hired Davey Tree for that and I'm writing this review (I gotta say I'm a bit nervous because of potential retaliation), yet I feel it's important to warn others about the type of people you're dealing with when you deal with this company. I have been using Ironwood Earthcare for years, and I'm writing to share how grateful I am for them. A few years back, an ice storm pummeled a young chokecherry tree in our back yard. And, it did damage to a big old sugar maple on our parkway. But because Ironwood trims our trees every few years, and now fertilizes them as well, both of these trees look just great. The chokecherry is beautiful, and both trees survived the wind storm we had last week, with no damage. So I'm grateful to Ironwood, and have no doubt that their care has made a big difference. I hate writing bad reviews, but I feel like the job I paid for is not finished, and it doesn't seem like there is any intention to finish the job I paid for. I was at work so my wife paid without fulling understanding what we had signed, which I take credit for. I've attached photos of both the signed proposal and the stump that was left on the property, not touched. According to the company, a stump was never seen during the scoping assessment they did. Which leads me to question where the verbiage came from in the initial quote. Maybe I am misunderstanding what I signed, and I'd be happy to be proven wrong. To their credit, the folks that actually did the installation were super nice and the kids really enjoyed talking to them while they installed. The shrubs look ok so far as well. I don't expect any additional work to be performed but I would shy away from using them again. read more

We were fortunate to work with Ironwood Earthcare Premier Tree Care Company. We are extremely pleased with their outstanding reliability, great communication, integrity and quality work and we would highly recommend them to anyone. Every member of this company is dedicated and professional, thoughtful of their customer needs, knowledgeable and efficient!! Everyone was extremely responsive, friendly, and highly competent - they really are the best! For context, we contacted at least 5 different tree service companies to obtain estimates for the job. All of them gave us a verbal estimate for a bulk amount of work to be done and when we asked for a written estimate - the response was that it wasn't necessary. In contrast, Paul Kehl (ISA Certified Arborist) from Ironwood Earthcare offered a professional assessment to evaluate the tree(s) and provided very detailed, itemized and accurate quote, which he emailed same day. He is very knowledgeable and experienced, he made recommendations based on situation/condition, but did not push any services on us (which is amazing on its own). He is passionate about trees and will only recommend removal as an absolute last resort. Our huge trees are extremely close to structures and are right outside our house, and we were struggling to cut/trim them frequently. We were very anxious that the huge branches/dry extremities could crack and collapse on our roof. We wanted to ensure that the contract included details such as the scope of work, timeline, payment terms, and a very specific detail - that the company was clearly aware/acknowledged that our lightweight concrete roof tiles were discontinued and repair is almost impossible, and therefore there was absolutely NO access to the roof. Likewise, because the tiles can very easily be broken/cracked from impact, there was great emphasis on the need to ensure heavy measures were taken so that cut branches do not fall on the roof. Communication was great from the beginning, which was extremely reassuring. Everything was clarified by both Paul and Dani (point of contact/office manager) before signing the agreement. We asked for the proof of insurance (even though we knew that Ironwood Earthcare Company has been in business for more than 20 years and has A+ on BBB) and the proof was provided right away. Dani was very patient and extremely understanding. She worked hard to meet our scheduling needs and always replied quickly and positively. Joey, the project lead/arborist, who arrived to carry out the job is awesome. He listened/paid attention and was attentive to our concerns, providing answers and various solutions. He and his wonderful assistant Josh, showed up on time and were able to trim our 50 year old honey locust tree (front yard) quickly and efficiently and also carried out a couple additional requests to cut/trim a few branches we thought needed it. The back yard tree trimming task was a lot more complicated, difficult and dangerous than most people realize! There was no ability to bring their equipment to the back yard and absolutely zero access to the roof. Everything was carried out climbing only! After finding that the job was bigger than estimated previously, they brought entire team to finish it before dark. The job was done safely, efficiently and same day, while protecting our property. These men worked as a great team. Everybody knows what everybody else is doing. I remember Nick (brave tree climber), but I should vouch that they all (entire team) were absolutely great! I had Ironwood Earthcare out for snow storm damage and to cut down 4 aspen and grind the stumps. They made such a mess of my backyard trimming an ash and 2 maples. They should have put down tarps and I'm still cleaning up chunks of wood in the lawn and garden. Saw dust everywhere. It's not that they didn't try to clean up it just wasn't prepped as it should have been. Same with the Aspen. Damage to the lawn and saw dust everywhere. I texted Clayton the Sales Rep and he never apologized or responded to the text. If you have nice landscaping make sure they tarp the area before they start the work and cover anything you don't was damaged. read more

Ironwood Earthcare doesn't value time customers time nor take responsibility for commitments not kept. An appointment was set for to visit my home on Friday from Noon-3pm, a week in advance. At 2:45pm, I called to inquire when they would arrive. I was told that they were super busy. I asked, if you knew you were going to not show up or be late, where is the professional courtesy to call. Minutes later the person who was suppose to come to my home called me. Not once did he apologize or take responsibility for not calling prior or for not coming during the time scheduled. I would not recommend doing business with Ironwood Earthcare. Find a company that will Do what they say, When they say, and how they said they would do it. read more

Ironwood Earthcare came out twice for us to remove some trees. The first time was removing 4 Aspen trees that died. The second time was our huge Cottonwood tree had a large branch break during a snow storm. Since the Cottonwood tree has grown so tall over our house and the neighbors we decided it was safer to have it removed completely. Ironwood Earthcare removed all the trees and grinded the stumps. It was like the trees were never there in the first place. On top of that my two boys watched them the entire time and the team interacted with them several times. What a great experience. read more

Ironwood removed a very large spruce tree from between my house and my neighbors house in January 2021. The tree was on my neighbor's property and she hired them and paid them. She provided me a copy of their liability insurance contract before the work was done. It took them 3 days to take down the tree and then an additional day to chip out the stump. During that time the tree company parked in front of my house and staged the removal using my front yard ,doing damage to my grass when they dragged the large tree stump pieces over my property, and spraying chipper dust all over my house and windows. I was trying to be a good neighbor so I said nothing, although they could have easily parked in front of my neighbor's house and done all their removal using her front yard instead of mine. I have a brick wall between our homes. In removing the top 25-30 feet of the tree, with all branches attached, they pulled it over the top of my brick wall and dropped it onto the brick wall and did a significant amount of damage to the brick wall. They could have avoided this by just taking the tree across my neighbor's front yard, not mine. I video taped 9 minutes of this disaster. The tree landed on the corner of my brick wall and wrapped itself around my oak tree in front of my wall as they continued to pull the tree towards the street. After I yelled at them to stop pulling as I thought they were going to destroy my oak tree, they did. The top of the tree was hooked on the corner of my brick wall and was being pulled by the pully in the street. The resulting pressure caused the wall to crack in numerous places. Ironwood then cut the branches off of the spruce and removed the large stump from my wall and from around my oak tree. All this is part of the 9 minute video I took. The video clearly shows no cracks in the east side of my brick wall before they dropped this @1000 lb tree on my wall. A photo 10 minutes later shows a clear crack in the east wall. A crack in the front part of the wall was made bigger by the impact. The top of the wall, the north side of the wall, the east side of the wall, all had new cracks just where the large tree fell on it. I called Daryl, who runs Ironwood I am told, and he came out to view the damage. He told me he was in charge. I thought, as I had a video of this disaster and many pictures showing the damage, that he would be receptive to looking at the video and accepting responsibility for the damage, as the video clearly shows the large tree piece being dropped onto my brick wall, wrapping itself around my wall and being hung up in my oak tree. HE REFUSED TO LOOK AT THE VIDEO, as he said it was not necessary as Ironwood was not liable. He made it clear that he believed the cracks were there from some other events, and that he was not responsible and he even looked at a crack in my house wall, 15 feet away and asked me if I was going to blame him for that crack too, which of couse I did not and had not. He pulled some mortar out of one of the cracks and stated that because it was not white, that the crack was old. I explained that I had colored the mortar to match the house mortar when I built the wall and it had never been white. He ignored that obvious explanation. He treated me like a stupid old woman. He suggested that we have Tom Martino look at this. Ironwood is recommended on Mr. Martino's website which I think Ironwood pays for, but I'm not sure. Certainly as this was clearly Ironwood's fault, I was not going to use Mr. Martino to mediate this. He left and I could not believe he had simply denied liability especially since I had it all on video, and I felt totally disrespected. I contacted Ironwood's insurance company and after I sent pictures from the video and other pictures I had taken, showing the very large tree piece directly above my wall and that there was no crack before it slammed into my wall, and the crack in the brick taken in a photo 10 minutes later, and explained what had happened, they settled with me and paid me enough to fix my wall. Luckily Ironwood has a $1000 deductible I was told, so they are out of pocket that amount at least, I hope. The actual guys who took down the tree - except for their foreman - were really nice guys. Daryl was a jerk to me and had I not had the video, it would have been he says/she says and I would have been out lots of $$$$ unless I sued them and won at trial. I would NEVER use this company. My family has had Ironwood take care of our trees for several years and couldn't be happier ... whether needing maintenance trimming and shaping or severe storm damage trimming and clean-up ... Ironwood is responsive, professional, competent, and operates in an honest manner. They take time to examine and evaluate the needs and health of each individual tree; if a tree does not need trimming, they let me know and suggest checking back the following year. In addition, I appreciate the fact that they prioritize their jobs, allowing them to attend to issues involving extreme danger/exposure (tree through house) prior to those of lesser importance (tree limbs down in yard or maintenance trim); when the occasion arises, they have communicated the unexpected change in a timely manner. read more

I purchased a Living Social deal for two months of weed and fertilization treatments from Ironwood Earthcare. I couldn't be happier with my decision. First, dealing with the company has been seamless. From the initial call, they have been courteous and appreciative of the business. I didn't get treated any differently for purchasing the discounted e-certificate. That is fantastic because I know several businesses that use that method to drum up business and then treat you poorly because you took advantage of THEIR promo offer. Anyway, the customer service has been been stellar. I got reminder calls the day before my services so that I could unlock the gates and secure my dog. They also left paper work explaining exactly what was done. Lastly, I've noticed a dramatic improvement in the appearance of my lawn. Following the first treatment it started to "green up" and weeds started to disappear. I can't wait to see how the second treatment fares. I am shocked at the absence of basic professionalism and reliability shown by Ironwood Earthcare. If this how potential customers are treated I am unwilling to see how customers are treated. I requested a tree trimming bit for an investment property. I wanted to explain the detail of what I was wanting to the person doing the estimate but they wanted me to explain the details to the office person -- then be available by phone during bid so the estimator can contact me with questions if needed. We schedule time on a Wednesday and I made sure I would be available by phone. Ironwood Earthcare canceled this so we rescheduled for a Friday at 9:00am. Again I made sure I was available by phone at this time. At 8:50am I got a call from the estimator saying they would be 30 minutes late. Again it was becoming necessary for me to rearrange my schedule for the convince of Ironwood Earthcare. I just told the estimator to forget it...I would find someone more considerate or my time and reliable. There is simply no regard for a potentially paying customer. It is all about the convince of Ironwood Earthcare with zero regard for how it impacts the customer. Where has good service gone? read more

I was delighted with everything about them; from calling the friendly office staff, to scheduling and the actual job that was done. I'm very happy with their work. They took great care of our property and when finished their clean-up was great too.

Called them to trim tree branches out of utility lines, said they would do on a specific date. 13 days later found out work not completed. Called them regarding work not being done. They called me back two days later saying they would send an estimator over the next day. Received phone call from estimator for trimming branches out of utility lines, gave verbal ok to do, for cost of $360 (never received written estimate). Found out 12 days later work not done. Called to cancel job since not getting it done. Received invoice for $360 11 days later for job not done. Called to dispute bill - said they did tree work. Met them at property 9 days later to discuss. Come to find out they did cut down one branch of a tree that was sitting on the roof of the building, for the low cost of $360. Man I met with to discuss this job was rude and very short tempered. I am happy to pay for work done at a reasonable cost, but $360 for removal of a 5"-6" diameter branch is unreasonable. Finally they didn't do what I asked them to do - which was remove tree branches from utility lines. Entire experience was a complete disaster from the office people to the manager. read more
