We visited multiple times over our weekend in Portland in July. Intimate atmosphere, great ambiance, excellent service by bartender Liz, great whiskey and bourbon selection. Even made some new friends. Thanks for a great experience! We will be back.

It's such a vibe for a late night drinking or grabbing a quick bite as they have such good food! They've made using the restroom fun as it's decorated with Polaroids from guests, and another funny item (you'll have to see for yourself) You need to get their espresso martini. The cold foam topping it off is the most delicious thing I've ever had.

Room for Improvement has been around for quite awhile at this point and I have heard nothing but positive about it. My wife and I finally made the time to come here and glad we did. With it being Halloween they have a special theme this week called Doom for Improvement so we thought it was the perfect time to visit! We showed up at opening for a spot to beat Halloween crowd on wharf street. I was reminded of Jager right away in the sense it felt familiar while also feeling new. They decked it out with Halloween decorations and bartenders were dressed up. We had Bojack Horseman serving us who was a top notch bartender, friendly, answered any questions and had good vibes! My wife tried their Pineapple Daiquiri and their Espresso Martini. I went with the Halloween themed drinks and got the Rest In Peeses that was a peanut butter (Reese's) themed Old Fashioned. Secondly I grabbed their Plenty Evil that was inspired by the Good & Plenty candy Absinthe Frappe. My wife's drinks were phenomenal and would both be go to orders for her and we both found a new favorite Espresso Martini. My first drink nailed the perfect mix of peanut butter flavor with a classic Old Fashioned. Secondly despite not being a huge licorice/good & plenty candy this drink was delicious! I look forward to returning for a non Halloween themed visit but we were both extremely impressed. If you are looking for a bar to grab drinks and want a nice and chill vibe this is your spot. Expect friendly bartenders who make high quality drinks!

It really feels like you're in a dungeon or dark castle inside and there's surprisingly a lot of seating (indoors and outdoors). We were able to snag a booth indoors. There's candles everywhere which really add to the ambiance. The servers were attentive and fast and it was nice that they came to the tables to take our drink orders. We just got espresso martinis, which were pretty good. I'd definitely come here again to try the other drinks and enjoy the vibe!

The person helping us seemed to be very overwhelmed with all the people that were in the back area. I and another friend got mocktails and our other friends got real drinks. The inside of this bar is cool but kinda scary feeling. Feels like you are in a basement or a dungeon. It's dimly lit in the inside area. And has candles in the middle of the place with wax dripping down. The bathroom is kinda spooky too. And the sink you have to use a pedal and I could not figure out for the life of me how to get colder water to wash my hands. The water was super hot. I may want to come back here and try an actual drink and maybe experience the inside atmosphere. This bar is below and the restaurant called Roma Cafe.

Street & co does not…read morehave the water views like scales but is tucked in this cute cobblestone street and you feel like you are walking into an original historic Portland building. I did a similar meal at street & co as I did scales - oysters and scallops. I enjoyed the scallops slightly better at scales but this was still a win. And the octopus! Don't be afraid of that order, it was outstanding. We also sampled desserts and I was blown away. I wish I could go back more often, another phenomenal meal in Portland.

What an amazing dinner! Everything was perfect from start to finish…read more The space is beautiful. It's down a cobblestone alleyway, and the interior is cozy and rustic. It feels like a secret, but I know it's not a well kept one! Our server Nico (apologies if I've misspelled that!) was wonderful. He was friendly and helpful when we made our dinner choices. The other servers were also always on top of keeping our table clear and our water filled. The food was absolute perfection. We started with a salad and grilled octopus. The salad was bright and acidic which paired perfectly with the best octopus dish I've had. It was so tender and delicious, I've never had octopus that was that tender. The grilled flavor came through immediately, but never overwhelmed the delicate flavor of the octopus. For mains I had sole francaise and my husband had bone in monkfish. The sole was melt in your mouth good. It was lightly breaded and cooked in a pan with brown butter. It was so toasty and nutty and coated the green beans and simple, but perfect, red potatoes it was served with. My husband's monkfish was fresh and perfectly toothsome, served with fluffy Roman gnocchi and romesco sauce. My only regret is not having enough room for dessert because I'm sure it's incredible as well! I can't wait to return the next time we're in Portland. Just to note: this is one of the least accessibility-friendly areas of the city. The old cobblestone road that it's located on is foot traffic only. The closest approach is if you're dropped off at the end of and it you would still have a short distance to travel. There is a brick footpath on the sides of the cobblestone road that is slightly smoother, but still not ideal. Earlier in the day I was able to navigate the street okay on foot so it will depend on your capabilities. That being said, I took my motorized travel chair down there in the evening and Street and co were happy to let me fold it up and store it near the door.

After being disappointed in the limited selection (no Oliva V's) , I purchased a Plasencia. I wanted to enjoy my cigar after a long road trip and was looking forward to share my experience with a friend who also drove a long distance to meet me there. I asked if I could smoke downstairs and when we went to "The Lounge" part I was told by bartender that it was for members only (empty as well) , not what I remembered from the last time I went a number of years ago... He didn't even have a V cutter. We were relegated to a dark cocktail table with cold plastic uncomfortable seats and my general impression was that we were not welcomed.

I wasn't sure if his attire was a leftover halloween costume or part of his standard flair. Anyway, I ordered a drink and strangely there weren't any cigar cutters/matches/lighters to be seen; I thought this somewhat strange because I'm in a candy shop??? I asked a question about an event being hosted by this business at another location and the bartender didn't know anything about it, or where it was located; seemed more annoyed; although a friendly patron chimed-in and said he knew where it was. I proceeded to an area with leather chairs and large TV; there was one unfriendly individual in there and a cowboy movie was on the screen; I really didn't come in to watch a movie; a general sports program would have been more entertaining. Generally I found the place had an attitude and was unwelcoming, which probably explains why it was so dead.
