Find somewhere to park a little farther away and walk to the festival if possible. Entrance is free and there are regular shows happening on the open (but covered) stage in the gazebo. Many of the shows were interactive with the audience. Lots of carnival rides, games and junk food available....for $&. But the beauty is the location has a lovely playground that kids can play in for free. Food trucks, vendors, ice cream, lemonade and a poutine alley. We did not make it as far as the poutine trucks as we had dinner reservations at one of the many restaurants within walking distance. We did snack and have drinks from some of the trucks while there.

The shops also included jewelry, etc. Parking is not hard to find you can either park on street, at the library or behind the light house. We entered and saw some food and merchandise stalls and some entertainment on the stages. There were rides and a petting zoo. Prices were high...large cotton candy for $8, 2 beaver tails for $15. It was not busy as it was almost over and it was becoming cloudy/rainy. It is a great community event and a great way to see neighbours. We missed the bread and honey and parade and races, but it was still a fun time.

Ahem!! I was present on Saturday for Bread and Honey and as a family fun festival I have to say this provides everything you could possibly want regardless of your age. Let me run through the best of the best of the bread and the honey ;) Entrance was smooth and painless, multiple ticket takers present to assist in your day or weekend pass (I believe a weekend pass was only $7, not a bad deal considering what was included). Aside from the Saturday morning parade, your admission allowed you access to countless vendors and exhibitors both inside the arena, outside in the upper parking lot and in the lower lot near the baseball diamond. Many vendors were local businesses and associations however some standouts were the Roman Chariot, Beavertails, Hogtown Smoke and Busters Seacove Food Trucks! The entertainment included local dance and theatre groups, vocal artists, bands and buskers, most of which were a real treat to see and hear! AND in addition to all of the above they had a huge carnival filled with games, and rides. I didn't get a chance to catch the evening festivities but it was obviously a hit as the crowds coming in as we were leaving were large! By day this is a great family centric festival but by night it's certainly the place to be in Mississauga! Looking forward to next years festival PS - All the free bread and honey you can eat ;)

There were live animals (a petting zoo with horses, cows, chickens, goats, etc.), bunny hop show, k9 unit show, horse and carriage and horse riding competitions, local vendors and food trucks, tractor pulling contests, midway rides and games. While my toddler was too short to go on the rides, she did enjoy climbing and sitting in the stationary tractors. Some events (tractor pull) were quite loud and kicked up a lot of dust and black smoke. There was a small stage with live performers (we caught a performance where they played kids songs). There was a butter tart contest too, but we'd left before it started. Th ere were portable bathrooms all around and one regular bathroom with flushable toilets in the food area. Our entire family thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would definitely be back again next year. Tip: Park for free at the school across the street or just on the street. Admission is $10 for adults, free for kids under 5.

A three day festival that celebrates the Tamil culture, cuisine, arts and entertainment. Markham Road at Turbine and McNicoll was closed off and you could see people walking quite a distance from where they parked their vehicles to get to this place. It was packed! Lots of good food, very loud music and many happy faces! A few freebie giveaways through promotional marketing teams from banks, insurance companies and the usual other vendors at these street events. I can't for the life of me remember the truck that had the sweet treats but the line-up was the longest which is usually the best indication of tried and tested goodness and it really did live up to our expectations. The sundae and funnel cake topped with strawberries and ice-cream was probably the best we've had in Toronto.

The website: I wasn't impressed with this waterfront night…read moremarket. I had such high hopes though. Their marketing & pictures of past events looked so good. Hubby & I bought tickets for this year's event. Firstly, their website doesn't have any FAQs. Other than a link to buy tickets & what the cost of the ticket gets you there's not much more information. First Impressions: We arrived just after 4pm & lined up. We got through pretty quickly because there wasn't much of a lineup. The device they were using to scan tickets wouldn't scan ours so they took a picture instead. We had VIP tickets so we got the "nicer" red lantern with tealight candle (the kind with a battery & a switch to turn on). They did a bag check & saw one of us had a bottle of water with us (unopened). They made us throw it into the garbage before going in. That wasn't nice. I later saw people with their reusable water bottles walking around with it. Why were those allowed and not ours? Not nice. As we went inside some booths weren't even set up. Though a good amount were already making their food items for waiting customers. One booth near the entrance was grilling skewers & the smoke went everywhere. The food: After wandering around I decided to get the ube burger & fries from the Bunso booth. The burger was a lot smaller than I thought it would be. The beef patties inside were quite thin. It didn't look appetizing compared to the picture. But it tasted a lot better than it looked. LOL. One thing I will criticize about the burger I wish they hadn't put so much black pepper into the patty. It was a bit spicy for me. It would have been nice if they had seasoned it more gently. The fries were decent. My only complaint is that they weren't hot. But given the circumstances where they were cooked (outdoors on a windy day) I can understand that. The Chatime food truck was nearby so I bought a purple aura bubble tea drink from them. It was too sweet for me. I only drank about half of it before abandoning it. Later on I got the egg shaped waffles in a small carton & the combo comes with lemonade in a flask. This was from Eggette Lab. The flask is a round ring & the strap is pink. Hubby drank the weak lemonade in it. It was funny to see him wearing the flask with pink ribbon & cartoon cats on it. Hubby got chicken skewers from Bunso (no picture) & a Vietnamese coffee style drink (didn't catch name of food vendor). The good: -The red lanterns hanging above the dance floor were nice. -The water feature where the lanterns go was nice. But the water didn't look too clean. -There was a plastic gold dragon by the water which looks nice in pictures & there's a small red bridge beside the water feature for selfie shots. -There was also some plastic Fu dogs where the dragon dancers have a tent. -The fake cherry blossoms looked nice too. -People were friendly & food vendors were friendly. -There were picnic tables set up near the back of the area away from the dance floor. It was quieter there. -The live dj was good. The bad: -A lot of the same food vendors here have also been at Mel Lastman Square events which is free to get into - I didn't feel like I was getting anything special or VIP. I was hoping to see more food vendors I hadn't seen before. -The only washrooms were portapotties which were disgusting & dirty. You can use the washrooms at enercare center but you have to leave the market & might not be allowed back in. -The VIP ticket came with a free alcoholic drink. That booth wasn't even set up yet when we arrived. Hubby was able to get a soju bomb later. -There are no recycle bins or green bins. Everything goes into the garbage. That's a lot of waste. When we got home we opened up the lanterns to look at them. They are cheap plastic lanterns. We recycled them at home. The electronic tea lights are ones you can get at the dollar store. It was nice to experience a different night market but I don't think I'll come back to this one. There are tons of free-entry night markets around the city that I can go to.

This is my second year doing the Ribfest via a YEE with a VIP Experience. Nothing says cool like a VIP pass to the grounds. Just walk pass all the people in line to get in. Just walk pass all the lines for food. Sit in a covered and less crazy VIP lounge. Snobbiness to the Maximus! The only thing that the VIP thingy doesn't give you is the run down of the Rib-bers. That's your own adventure - with your RED Foam Cowboy hat in hand! I get to run around from BBQ to BBQ and look at hardworking fares of the brotherhood/sisterhood of the travelling grill. It doesn't matter where they come from. They stay in character the whole time. Good Ole Peeps from the South! YAH-Hoo! Now which one to go...I've been to a couple of the Rib-bers in the past. I just need to pick one out. Hmmm...find the one with the longest line and then pull a Disney move. Wave the fast-pass VIP thing and go place your order. Oh yeah - that's what I did. :D Sat down with a group of Elites. Enjoyed our treat, told stories of our adventures, met new online friend IRL. As the day ended, I got to watch the Stiletto Club trying hard not to get stuck in the grass. The Flip Floppers trying to not get debris stuck on their feet, and the Cowgirls (who thinks that clothing is optional at times) doing their strut. A great time was had by all. Though Port Credit is quite far away from Richmond Hill, it was worth it. Come on...ribs, beans, slaw, corn bread, and BEERz! Now you understand why we call it a PIG OUT! CHEERS!!!

It features many different artists from around the world. The exhibits are immersive with some that includes participation like this year's Cloud Swing (where people swing under light clouds). Each show piece is very different in theme and they are different over the years. I've been all three years. For some reason, the nights chosen have always been cold (at least my fingers freeze when taking pictures/videos! Luckily there are shops and restaurants you can enter to warm up.

Murphy's law being what it is with young children, we arrived a bit late. However, both acts we caught we very entertaining and had the attention of everyone which was no small feat given the diversity of the ages present. My son especially enjoyed the juggling and balancing of Robin Chestnut. It's great that the local community puts this festival together. I'll have to catch catch the more 'mature' shows next time around, but would also love to bring the kids back to the family show as well.

James Mullinger's act was pretty clean when compared to the other two acts. Chris Robinson got the most laughs. Chad Daniels got the most heckles out of the audience. One heckler was so disruptive that she was asked to leave. The hall was alright. You can buy Alcoholic and non Alcoholic drinks. Some sort of take out boxes were available for purchase in case you were hungry. I strongly recommend this event to all stand up comedy fans. I'm surely coming back next year. Keep in mind that this event is not family friendly. I would not recommend it for the easily offended.
