There are a huge number of artefacts, and every time I go I manage to see and learn new things. The Museum is run by keen volunteers who are happy to guide you round or answer any questions. There is a nice little tearoom which also sells souvenirs and often has wartime music or films playing in it. There are sometimes sandwiches for sale, but no other meals, just snacks like crisps, sweets, biscuits. The souvernirs are VERY CHEAP- lots for under £1. There is also an underground bunker which is open during high season which has been built as an exact replica of one found recently a few miles away at Stratford St Andrew- you can walk through this and see how Britain's Secret Army lived and trained, with original memorabilia such as food and bomb making equipment housed in the bunker. This is very popular with the children, but the main WWII museum part is probably more suitable to adults due to the nature of the exhibits- lots of written displays etc. There are outside picnic tables which are lovely in summer but can get very windy due to the barren and flat surroundings. BEST OF ALL, ENTRANCE TO THE MUSEUM IS FREE- but the Museum does rely on donations to be able to survive. Do play the Museum a visit if you are going near to Framlingham- it is open Sundays March- September and Wednesdays in July and August and really does offer a lovely, informative and evocative morning or afternoon out.

In the main hall is the Dad's Army Museum, which is not clearly delineated but in the same hall as some other varied exhibits. The cafe sells excellent cakes and lunches at acceptable prices. There is a signal box exhibit too, a carousel roundabout and a small ramshackle old-time fun-fair. Like many such places the museum is based on a collection rather than trying to tell a particular story. The gardens are rather under-sold. They are magnificent and very extensive. On a fine day you could enjoy them for hours. Well worth a visit.

It does…read morehave several working steam trains which our children thoroughly enjoyed riding on, but it has more besides such as an old-fashioned gallopers ride. Your entry ticket entitles you to a few rides. The music is quite loud and the horses do go up and down and round at quite a rate. My young child jumped on enthusiastically but as we went round she looked faintly scared and hung on for dear life! There's also a Dad's army museum which fans of the show will love. Our children too enjoyed going in and out of the replica shops. The gardens here are beautiful as well and we enjoyed our picnic in lovely surroundings. You might even be tempted on the way out to purchase something from the Blooms of Bressingham Garden Centre which forms part of this place.

This is an absolutely super place to visit. The museum houses a large number of all sorts of…read morevintage vehicles ranging from old busses of various eras, milk carts to milk floats, old cyclyes, penny farthing, trolley busses, trams, cars, old signage, machines all beautifully maintained. You can also peep into the garage where their current restoration projects are on the go. The museum is run by interested volunters and their knowledge of all things transport realted is exceptional. The facility also houses a vast store of written records and photos that are slowly being convereted to digital media - a number of people research here for different projects and publications. As well as lovely memorabilia they is a pretty little tea shop in the style of a 1950s railway station tea shop - quite lovely! I can believe that there is anyone who would not find something to tug them down memory lane here. There is also a little ift shop attached,. It does cost a few pounds to get in, but it is worth it and as the staff are volunteers the money goes to supporting the museum. Enjoy!

Tough one to provide too many details for visitors as it is a sailing vessel that specialises in…read morelong voyages, enabling people to sign up as crew for months at a time. The Barque Picton Castle was recently in Ipswich, since it has a historical connection with the town during the time it was being refitted. I won't go into the details since they are all on their website http://www.picton-castle.com We were lucky enough, because of my wife's connection to the RNLI and through some very good friends who work for the TIC in Ipswich, to go on board during the civic welcome by the mayor. We were shown great hospitality by the international crew (mainly North American) and were able to give them some advice on some places to visit in the area - and also some decent pubs. If the Picton Castle is coming to your neck of the woods, I would recommend that you go on board. It is a fascinating vessel and the crew are very engaging.

The woman's stiff posture is accentuated by her tightly buttoned jacket and the exaggerated bustle of her skirt, which echoes the curve of her parasol. Given that the area of Paris depicted here was known for prostitution, it has been suggested that the woman is a sex worker on the arm of a male client." Give yourself several hours if you plan to take in the entire collection. If you are fortunate enough to live nearby and can visit often, take your time and you're sure to fall in love with one of the many wonderfully curated items found within the museum walls.
