Tough one to provide too many details for visitors as it is a sailing vessel that specialises in long voyages, enabling people to sign up as crew for months at a time.
The Barque Picton Castle was recently in Ipswich, since it has a historical connection with the town during the time it was being refitted. I won't go into the details since they are all on their website http://www.picton-castle.com
We were lucky enough, because of my wife's connection to the RNLI and through some very good friends who work for the TIC in Ipswich, to go on board during the civic welcome by the mayor.
We were shown great hospitality by the international crew (mainly North American) and were able to give them some advice on some places to visit in the area - and also some decent pubs.
If the Picton Castle is coming to your neck of the woods, I would recommend that you go on board. It is a fascinating vessel and the crew are very engaging. read more
