We were scrambling to find another class, so I reached out to Marta. I figured that I wouldn't hear back for days. I was wrong. Marta responded in under 20 minutes. Unfortunately, she didn't have space for the following day. Imagine my surprise when she followed up a few hours later saying she might have a cancellation and to email her if interested. We had already found a replacement, so I had to decline. I appreciate that Marta is communicative and quick to respond. Thank you, Marta!

We started off on a 45 minute tour of the market, familiarizing us with the market layout and history. We had a small ham tasting as well with Serrano vs Iberian ham. The prep was done in various stages with the kids actively preparing the five dishes- gazpacho, tomato garlic toast, Spanish omelette, seafood paella and crème brûlée. One of the Wonders of the Industrial World! Started in 1882, maybe finished by 2036 (lol). But even with scaffolding in the mix, this place is jaw-droppingly insane. You look up and your mouth opens. Look around, everyone's jaw is on the floor. I've never been overwhelmed by stone before. It's like walking through a cathedral built by alien wood nymphs who had a crystal budget. And you'll leave with a sore neck from all the staring up. If you see nothing else in Barcelona, see this. It's stunningly overwhelming.

And believe you me we walked passed a many wineries but walking upon Magatzem Escola was a great find! Located in the Born District Magatzem Escola is a liquor store/winery. First off their ambiance is very cool casual with the staff well knowledgeable about the products they carry. Serious about they'r wine they have a reload able card you can purchase to taste test a variety of wines they recommended. What caught our eye was the random windows in the floor that you could walk on and look into the basement below. Apparently they hold certain tastings and pairing parties for members. We thought the staff was nice enough that we came back multiple times during our trip.

This is a great poster store, and that's all there really is to it…read more The quantity of posters that poster stores have always impresses me, and once again, they have tons of posters. You can find almost any theme and almost any size which is nice. My only real issue with the store, is that there isn't much material that seems to be one of a kind, but I guess that in a poster store, there really isn't meant to be that type of stuff. There are two rooms. The first, main one, has mainstream classics like Bob Marley in three colors, Andy Warhol, and Marilyn Monroe, along with music, movies, and TV shows. The second room has nature pictures, paintings (some of 'em in giant sizes), and other more art-world related things. They have a great selection of postcards, which consists of lots of Gold Age of Hollywood actors and actresses, along with more generic Barcelona pictures. The staff is really really nice, even though most of the time in their in the back and there's no one at the counter, which bothers me, but that's just me. Anyways, this is a great place, and it's where I always go to get posters for presents or for myself. Above all, walk around, look at everything, and enjoy!
