I was obviously trying to recoup some of my lost investment in the business. HERE IS THE THING: Every time I made a settlement for a dollar amount, Phillips fees SUDDENLY would basically match the amount. I would squeeze another 500, BOOM his fees went up 475. I don't trust the guy at the end of the day. Classic lawyer scenario...The more I "get" you, the more I take.

We made it clear we didnt want to spend more than $5000. he said dont worry about it - the $5000 will take us all the way to trial. Long story short. he wrote the complaint and had 1 conversation with the other party and sent two emails and money was gone. and when i said i dont understand - this is very different than what you told us - he really could care less... felt as if he said ok and just slammed the door in my face and send us a check for the remaining $100 balance and that was it.. never heard from him again. felt totally scammed.. totally wronged. we paid $5000 for a couple emails and a drafted complaint that he told us in meeting #1 it would be mostly copy and paste. i would avoid. i think you can find a more $$ conscious lawyer elsewhere.
