I just wish I didn't work those mornings because I would love to join them. There is also a family reading time once a week. Shortly after Covid it was held outdoors at the park which was super fun. The librarians here are so nice and friendly. It's gotten to the point that when I walk in they will tell me my held books were just pulled. I go to this library that often. Yes did I mention it's next to Victor park? So when your kids come play at the playground they can stop by and check out a book afterwards.

I haven't been here, but my son visited this location a few times for their events; he really enjoyed the "Tony Daniels Magic Show" this summer. I needed a place to hang out until the local fencing club was open & stopped by to work & peruse the stacks earlier in the month. It's slightly smaller than sister Southeast Torrance Library (definitely quieter even with the proximity of Victor Elementary School & St. James Catholic School), with a nice collection of youth & middle school books to entice my son to read. ツ Free WiFi is available... the login & PW is posted at the front desk/check-out counter. I get decent connectivity working here while waiting for M to finish his homework or do some light reading. I stopped in again mid-11/2024 to attend the "Traveling Naturalist" event. We ran a little late, but there's room for us to join in (capped @ 40 people). It was facilitated by Ryan English, Lead Naturalist from the Environmental Nature Center. Can you believe she traveled 39-mi.? Wowza! \(*o*)/ She started with a short story to lead/pique the children's curiosity of the animal that is to be introduced. I missed the book that announced "Blueberry" (Blue Death Feigning Beetle), & saw her escorting the insect around to be petted. This guy was "alive"/active this time. Ryan said it has "feign death" (its defense mechanism) at some presentations. She followed up with the popular Frog & Toad book, & shared a toad named "Mr. Pickles" (look but no touch due to his sensitive skin); he squeaked several times like a dog's chew toy. You can hear the kids collectively sighing: "awww!" The next friend that was introduced was "Fiesta," a rose-colored Boa Constrictor. M thought she was really pretty & cute. We had to leave after her, missing out on the rabbit/bunny (M sneaked a peek at the next book). While I was waiting for the l'il guy to wash his hands, I shared my gratitude & appreciation to the librarians for hosting this awesome event! We love our local libraries, especially for the fun, interesting, educational, etc. activities for the community... there's even events for adults! Stop by & see what this local library has to offer for you & your family, you'll be glad you did!

It is so rich…read morein history, and as someone born and raised in Inglewood, there's something incredibly special about being able to step back in time and see a piece of the place I call home. The individuals who give the tours are so knowledgeable and genuinely care about preserving and sharing the history of this beautiful place. I took my cousin here a while back, and not too long ago, we went to visit again. There's something so comforting about being there, surrounded by the antiques, vintage pieces, and little details that take you back to another time. If you ever get the chance to visit Centinela Adobe, I truly hope you do -- you won't regret it. There's something beautiful about being given the opportunity to look back at what once was, especially when it's part of the history of the place I'm lucky enough to call home.

One of San Pedro's numerous historical treasures, the James H. Dodson Residence became Historical…read moreMonument #147 in the 1970's. The beautiful gingerbread Victorian was built in the 1880's. Dodson's wife was the daughter of Jose Diego Sepulveda, which adds to the historical significance of the house, originally located on Vinegar Hill at 7th & Beacon. Apparently the house was later moved to a 10-acre location on Meyler, where the property had killer views of the harbor. Then the house was moved again to its current location, a big corner lot at 13th & Parker. The "views" at this location are not so good. The house now faces a ball field's bleachers & is bordered on one side by a National Guard facility......good news, I suppose, for those who don't want residential neighbors at close proximity. More good news for the Dodson House: the heavily-damaged (partly a result of all the moves) & deteriorated/neglected structure has recently been restored & tastefully updated, preserving most of the original features including the stained-glass windows, the secret hidden room, the doors/knobs, and the 3-way fireplace. And the property is currently for sale, allowing people an opportunity to see the interior. Unfortunately I missed my chance to get into the house a couple weeks ago. I got my dates mixed up for the realtor open house, so couldn't get in on the day I drove down there.....but I was able to wander around the outside, which is impressive indeed. The property appears to now be in pristine condition, even the landscaping. I'm told there's new electric & plumbing, and even A/C. And I noticed a porch swing, how cool. No, I'm not gonna consider buying the house.....I just appreciate historic/vintage architecture. And still haven't given up hope of seeing the interior of the house, armed with camera. Meanwhile, it warms my heart to see that this proud & charming old residence has finally received the loving attention it deserves.

They have a great selection of children's books everything from popular series to fun educational reads. What I love most are the activities they offer for kids story times, crafts, and seasonal events that keep my little ones engaged and excited about reading. The staff is always friendly and helpful, and the space is clean and well-organized. Plenty of parking, too which is always a plus when you're coming with kids! If you're looking for a calm, family-friendly library with a lot to offer, this is definitely the place!

Painted by Mike Trujillo; the mural highlights Kobe's basketball journey via all his jerseys. The mural starts off on the left with a painting showasing when he played high-school basketball at Lower Merion High School and wore #33. The mural then shows how he first wore #8 for the Lakers for when was first drafted and on to when he won three championships in 2000, 2001, and 2002. The mural next highlights him wearing the #10 jersey for the USA men's basketball team at the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games. Lastly it shows Kobe sporting #24 starting in the 2006-07 season; all the way till he retired in 2016. I also loved how the mural had purple and gold hues for the background. This is an amazing mural to see and it can be easily missed as it is on the backside of the Burger City restaurant in Torrance. I definitely say though it is one not to pass up seeing as it's a great tribute to Kobe via showcasing all of Kobe's jerseys from the start to the finish of his career. This mural is something Lakers and basketball fans will truly appreciate. I know I certainly did!

He tried to figure out where it was located on Torrance Boulevard. We found it in Old Town Torrance... on the wall of Burger City Grill. It's by Mike Trujillo and is awesome! The gigantic mural has great illumination at night! It includes all of the numbers that Kobe wore: from High School, to the Olympics, and when we was with the Lakers! Look for Kobe's Academy Award! It's very cool - go see it!

This facility is located right on the corner of P.C.H. and Pier Ave, and serves as sort of an ambassador to the city. You don't have to be a local to come on in, and take any number of classes. These classes are reasonably priced, and taught by professionals in their fields. One of the newest classes hosted by the community center is the ARTZ Unlimited School program. This program consist of a children s program in which they are taught to draw everything from landscapes to animals in pastel, watercolor, and even oil. There is also an adult program for oil painting, or watercolor. these classes offer individualized attention, small class sizes, and All Skill Levels. You can learn the actual techniques of art's greatest, in a fun, non pressured environment....plus you're near some of Hermosa's best restaurants, shops, and even a gallery.

As a result, I followed the instructions displayed on the entrance window, as show below: Place the following items in the buckets for X- Ray Screening: All Coats and Jackets All Items in Pockets All Jewelry Belt Shoes Place all bags, boxes, food bags through X-Ray Remove all electronics and Lay Flat All persons are subject to search. Thereafter, I went to the room to pay $168.00 for two persons' certificates. Surprisly, I am the only person in a nice and clean room with five windows open (3 employees were sitting there). The entire process took about 20 minutes. When I left, no one was at the same room. If the Trump administration or DOGE will start to lay off thousands of federal employees, the time for change name certificate might take 5 months instead of the current 2 months. Can AI accomplish or reduce the time from 2 months to 3 weeks in order to obtain a name-change certificate?
