Daneri Mortuary

Daneri Mortuary

Given the relationship between the Sheriff Coronor and Daneri my mother's body was taken there when she died at the local hospital in Jackson. My mother had lost both of her lower legs due to peripheral artery disease and in both cases there was a mortuary in Lodi that made it possible for the legs to be cremated and returned rather than end up in a medical incineration which is what normally happens to human body parts in those circumstances. So when my mother died in 2011 I called the mortuary in Lodi and they picked up my mother's body and did the cremation at far lower cost than what Daneri quoted me and I would strongly suggest that everyone else shop around before going the easy route here in Jackson and paying through the nose. I promise you that there are far less expensive options just a few miles away. IMO, the problem is that all of the mortuaries here in Amador are owned by the same company. That company was family owned and operated for decades but one of their employees informed me in early 2024 that the family had sold out to a giant death care corporation. So unless I'm mistaken the company is no longer locally owned and the people you are dealing with are employees charged with extracting every last dollar from you when a relative dies. Given what I know I would recommend that you shop around with other mortuaries in Stockton, Lodi, and Sacramento before you agree to let "Daneri" handle the arrangements. It's far less costly and there are other options.

Foundation Partners bought out this mortuary and it was honestly a blow to the community. They've…read morefired all the old staff at this point to cut costs and it shows. Sent my son home in an urn that was glued on crooked, lost his death certificate. No respect, just making money. If these were different times these people would have been ran out of town on a rail.

In some cases the legalities. My 88 year old dad wanted me to take care of this, but they needed his permission for me to do that. Helped me get all the right paper work. Communication was spot on. They helped facilitate picking the ashes up closer to where I live. No question was too much. I struggled with whether or not to have an obituary for my mom in the newspaper. They have an obituary service on their website. Perfect. I sent the link to who I thought would want it. What I didn't know was how distant family I didn't know about could do a search online and find it. Then contact me to send their condolences. I price checked a few places and they were competitive, convenient and comforting.

From our first interaction, Eugene, our funeral director, created an atmosphere of dignity and care that brought comfort when it was needed most. All services were provided with exceptional attention and sensitivity. Eugene took the time to explain each step and ensured everything was managed with grace. His kindness and empathy were evident throughout the entire process, and it was clear the staff at Lassila Funeral Chapel truly cares about the families they serve. They also included after-the-services follow-up help to provide care to the family. We are deeply appreciative of the compassion and professionalism shown to us and definitely recommend their services.

Blue Pine Coffins

To begin: No one wants to pick out a coffin. It means that a loved one's earthy journey has ended…read more Imagine the sadness I felt as our family was navigating the imminent loss of my mother and I had to assist my father in funeral and burial planning. It was truly the most painful time of my life. However, after a great deal of searching for the resources and providers we needed, I was led to Blue Pine Coffins and we could not be more grateful. Not only was the coffin stunningly handcrafted and beautifully made, it provided a deep and unexpected comfort at burial and beyond because it was an "elevated" object that was made individually for her with reclaimed wood, supporting her values and aesthetic. Blue Pine Coffins is a family business with a husband-and-wife duo; they custom make each coffin and their word is gold. When I reached out to Danielle two months before mom's passing, she was responsive and made every effort to get the essential info and while being so kind and compassionate. Danielle made sure the coffin we ordered would be perfect for my mom's petite frame. I could reach her via text or email and when the time came for mom's funeral, Danielle was incredibly responsive and arranged for the coffin to be delivered to the funeral home we chose. Meeting Danielle in person at delivery and having a brief hug was touching. My mom was a one-of-a-kind person who always did things her own way. She was an early adopter of earth friendly ethos- yes, she used canvas grocery bags staring in 1991! Mom made her own bread, soap, herbal tinctures, and cleaning products. She gardened and loved the natural world- trees, forests, plants. Imagine my delight finding out that Blue Pine Coffins uses regionally sourced, reclaimed blue pine and are made entirely of wood. This means the coffins are suitable for traditional Jewish and "green" burials, which is what we chose for my mother. The craftmanship is impeccable and you can request a carved Star of David or cross for the top of the coffin. I may add that the price is a great value (mom loved a good value!) and they deliver locally. Choosing Blue Pine Coffins felt authentic to my mom's ethos. I was unexpectedly moved when the coffin was delivered and I could touch the smooth wood with my hand, feeling the weight and heft of this most impressive object, while delighting in its somber beauty. It was absolutely right for mom. It was a vessel that honored her body and her life. Thank you, Blue Pine Coffins and Danielle and Dean. You are doing such important work in the physical and spiritual realm, and our family cannot thank you enough.
