After being forced into early retirement because of COVID-19, I decided to refinance. After my closing I checked to see if Guild had closed out my old mortgage. They didn't & in fact took an additional payment. I called to investigate. They claim to have not received the payoff. My next call was to the title co. They informed the payment had been sent FedEx, provided me tracking info-address/date/time & name of person who signed for it. Called Guild back with the info & was told I had to enter my concern via email and wait 3 days-which I did. Called back & spoke to several people who had No idea what I was talking about. Eventually talked to a supervisor that miraculously found the check while we spoke. I was advised to wait 3-5 days for the check to clear. After 6 business days it had not. Called back got hung up on. Called back only to be hung up on again after explaining in detail my concern. After several times of explaining the situation I reached a supervisor who has been attempting to settle the situation. The title company has repeatedly offered to wire the $$ and cxl the other check (which has obviously not been found). Guild refuses to back date the payment to day they received it and return my overpayment. Instead they claim I am responsible for interest that has accrued & refuse to return the additional mortgage payment. I now have 2 mortgages and if I don't make another payment it will be considered late & added to my credit report. I have not had a late payment in 36 years. I am now trying to live on less than $900 a month. The lack of concern or effort to correct the situation is beyond stressful. DO NOT USE GUILD MORTGAGE!
