DO NOT USE INTOXALOCK!! Look for a different company to get an IID. I was referred to this company by my attorney's office and I regret it. When you first call, they seem nice, helpful, and responsive. Once you get the device installed in your call, good luck getting a hold of a person, especially without 30 minute wait times. The machine itself is ABSOLUTE TRASH. It's dated and extremely sensitive. It requires you to exhale-inhale-exhale. Even if you're following their 3-2-3 count, it'll randomly start beeping. After only 2 weeks of the device being in my car, my car battery died!! I had just gotten it replaced the month prior. When I called AAA to jump my car, the device wouldn't allow it. I would breathe into it and once cleared, I'd try to start the car. NOPE. The device would make me wait 2.5 minutes before trying again. Eventually, I decided to get the damn thing removed from my car. I called the DMV to see what consequences I'd face and it turns out they advised AGAINST the installation of the IID when Intoxalock's representative called the DMV to let them know of installation. All of that, and I still had to pay remove the device. This company is a scam. Bunch of crooks. Save your money and find a different company. read more

What an absolute cluster f&*% its been for the last five years. Today is the day I got it out and I've been waiting to write this review on this day. First of all let me say....F^&* Intoxalock! F&%$ NY State for imposing sentences that are medieval! If you can find any other manufacturer please do. You will experience problems with your device. Lockouts are $85 and if your battery dies in the winter due to this thing constantly drawing on your battery, you'll get locked out. Oh you have a problem and you need to call to get a work order done? Good luck talking to someone with a regular american accent. I'm convinced the place is run by arabs and they take pleasure in boning you every chance they get. They have the power to waive fees but never do. They also have the power to reset remotely but that doesn't happen anymore thanks to NYS. If you are in a lockout, you have to get it to the garage within 5 days. If you don't, you'll be towing it. My advice for the battery, install an exterior/interior outlet where you park your car and run a lead and battery charger to your battery. Dont drink and drive! Get your employer to give you a company vehicle and dont get pulled over after business hours. Happy motoring read more

1: 24/7 support is a blatant lie. No matter what number you call you can not get to a person just an automated system with automated messages. 2: I have only had it in since June and it's fried 3 batteries in my car, the repair facility that put it in also broke my fusebox cover and scotch taped it together and didn't say shit to me. 3: They will give you all kinds of false charges and extra charges all of the time and will make it so you can not drive your vehicle if you don't pay the extra charges that yet no one can seem to tell you why or what they are for read more

I was percent misrepresented, basically lied to so I would use this service. I had already picked out an interlock service 265.00 install including 1st month, when intoxolock called me. I asked why should I use this service: 1. We only calibrate every 3 months which is normal and can do with any other company 2. Told me my time would start as soon as my device was installed NOT TRUE 3. Told me it would take 2-4 hours the guy that installed said never is that true I was there 8 hours. 4. Told me payments are made 2x a month to help customers. 5. I paid the 49.95 to start never did he tell me that I would still owe 94.99 ( they charge a fee to use them as well as a monthly. 6. I pay them 94.99 a month and an additional 30.00 when calibration which he told me 15.00 to 20.00 Told me there was a minimum state charge of 94.99 NOT TRUE. I called 3 companies 79.99 to 90.00 The device is like 100 years old. It's huge wires all of the place and a camera huge, and a big block in my windshield. I have never ever seen anything like this, devices are small quick to test and a very small camera. This is the biggest misrepresentation I have ever seen!!!! I WOULD GO TO ANY WHERE BUT HERE. Once you have signed up you can't talk to anyone I had to pretend to be a new user for them to call me back and I have been on hold for 45 minutes. The DMV needs to know this!!!! As well as anyone else I can warn!!!!!' The installer was furious as to all the misrepresentations were in my email. I showed him. They also promised to give me a 100.00 back towards my install see if that's true??????? I have to have his service for the next year I am so disappointed and upset. This is my second time extending my lease because of 1 violation. They will take advantage of you, your car die & you get a violation for it dying when it's the device that makes it die, 3 almost four alternators, & had to get a another battery. I got an inspection on my car.. The mechanic told me that the I had a wire issue and my car would run off the power from the alternator & not the battery & that the place I get my calibrations that mechanic should of caught it but tried to tell me it was the alternator again. The device will show that you blow false breath samples. It will say you fail when you haven't drank any alcohol but won't fail you when you get gasoline spilt on me. I had to extend my lease because they said I tampered with the device which was false & the representative told me I will need a court order to see the proof that they had of me. They will find anything to keep you in this lease & take your money. I have cried so many times because of this company. Oh yeah, I was told they could keep me in this program for 20 years if I get it one violation but thing is they always find one for you to not finish. PLEASE! DO NOT! USE THIS COMPANY! I have been on the phone with them all day. DDS didn't require me to have the interlock system installed. I chose to have the system installed on my own. For my very own reasons. Intoxalock is still saying they need to have a form from DSS sent to them to have the system removed. But DDS told me they have no reason to reach out or provide them with any information. I am stuck inbeteewn a rock and a hard place. Intoxalock is still being almost no help at all. It is such a headache to have their device removed. If you are not required to have this device installed, then do not have it installed with this company. I chose to install an interlock system on my own accord. No court, nor government entity mandated me to have it. So why would I need them to tell Intoxalock to let me uninstall their system in my vehicle...If I didn't need an entity to tell them to let me have it installed. Crazy read more

They need new devices, new customer service, should probably just shut down because of how terrible they are. You have to call from another phone number to even get customer service because all they care about is getting new devices. The device it self is ancient and literally drains your car. They had me remove a 1 star review before to save face and gave me a credit on my account. read more

This company is a money grab. I have had the device since 2020 with no issues until I was eligible to have it removed. Each violation adds 180 days to my time on the machine. Both times I requested 180 day compliance i received lockout violation...one of which is because the device was cold? Nope! I'm over this garbage! read more

Don't use their service. They installed the Intoxalock and left my car dead in the driveway and are taking no responsibility for the additional fees that I had to put out to get my car towed, analyzed and fixed. I wouldn't even give them one star. It's been nine months of pain and they started the whole thing by leaving my car dead in the driveway and not taking any actions to fix the issue. In September, we requested Intoxalock to install a interlock system in our car. While the interlock system was installed (09/21/22), the car would not start. We tested the battery and it still would not work. Regardless of the situation, the installer left the premise before the car would start. We contacted our salesperson and he said that had never happened and didn't know why it happened. He suggested I call Intoxalock, which we did, to no avail. We could not get to a person to speak to in person. Because of the dead car, I had to get the car towed to the dealership. This cost me $100. In order for the dealership to diagnose the problem, they charged a $165 diagnostic fee. The dealership determined that the Interlock system was conflicting with the remote start system, which caused the security system to activate - causing the car not to start. The interlock was not installed correctly causing the car not to start. In order to fix this issue, the dealership charged $495 to fix the issue that Intoxalock had caused. In order to fix it, I also had a rent a car for $38 dollars. Once the Intoxalock was removed, the car started with no issue and worked as expected. All of this activity was caused by the improper installation of the system by Intoxalock. In addition to all this, there were multiple calls made to Intoxalock. The automated system made it almost impossible to speak to a representative. We have to call from a different phone, acting as a new customer in order to get in touch with someone. After poor customer service from Intoxalock, we decide to remove the Interlock system and stop our relationship with Intoxalock. In turn, the system was removed at an additional price of $128. One of our last calls, was to request a refund of the auto costs that ensued as a result of the improper installation of the interlock system by Intoxalock. We were instructed to send an email to invoices@intoxalock.com. In November 2022, I sent a description of the activities and the copy of the invoices paid for the repair of the car in expectation of refunds and reimbursements for the sum of over $1,000 in additional costs due to the improper installation of interlock system by Intoxalock. I then received an email regarding the tow receipt (subject line "Tow receipt Denied"), stating, "We have received your documentation and are unable to approve as the receipt provided does not meet the criteria for reimbursement. If additional and/or updated documentation is provided, we would be happy to review again to see if a credit can be applied. To qualify for reimbursement a receipt must include: -Full Name -Proof of payment (if the receipt does not show as paid we cannot issue a credit) -Date of tow -Vehicle information -Where the vehicle was towed from and towed to -Be clear and legible" There was no other communication on the other requests. After that last email, there was no other communication from Intoxalock. Again, we made a call to Intoxalock to understand when the reimbursement would take place. We called on December 14, 2022, where we were then told that the reimbursement was denied. This was never communicated to us or a given us a reason for this denial and it's obvious that Intoxalock is at fault here. I was then told I could email to this address @customerserviceresolutions@intoxalock.com to appeal this decision. Today, I sent this email to this email address and it was not a valid email. I also tried "customerservicesolutions" and "customerservice" to no avail. Please consider the facts in this case, and understand that the improper installation of the Interlock system by Intoxalock cause the unnecessary burden for my family of over $1,000 in expenses. read more

Cashgrab. Expensive as hell to begin with. Glitchy device, keeps entering lockout. They will give you two or three free resets, but after that it will cost you about 80 bucks each time to reset. Unbelievably crooked people. read more

For starters, the device is a POS. Mouthpieces don't securely fit into the device, so the mouthpiece if always falling out and onto the car floor, under the seat, etc. Really sanitary to be putting into your mouth. Secondly, you need to have Superman lungs to make this thing work correctly. The inhaling, exhaling, then inhaling again... it has to be perfect or it fails. Next is the ridiculousness of the amount of times having to blow WHILE DRIVING. No rhyme or reason as to when and how often. It can be 2 minutes after you started the car or 20 minutes. It's unsafe. And worst is the noise. Very loud beeping and grinding noises when alerting you to blow while driving. A real joy for my passengers, friends, family, daughter's friends, etc. And lastly - the price is just ridiculous for the leasing of this thing. Greedy as can be. There HAS to be better alternatives. read more

This appears to be the only company that will not allow a certified mechanic to disable the system to perform repairs and maintenance to your vehicle. They will only put your vehicle in "repair status" but if one of my technicians has used an alcohol based mouthwash it will violate the customer and they will have to dispute the violation with Intoxalock. Be ware!!! I highly recommend a different company if you have to get an interlock device installed on your vehicle read more

I had device installed but DMV form they sent to installer did not have my license plate number on the form and DMV would not accept it. Every time I called customer service they said a new form was sent overnight but they lied. I missed 2 days of work and I'm still waiting for the forms. At this point I'm looking for another company. Bad service customer service sounds like they're in India. Don't use this business. Messed up paperwork. read more

I have been treated like a second class citizen by intoxalock. The customer experience was absolutely ridiculous because of their structure and culture. Customer service is always a long wait time and then you are transferred from one to another and another. I have been on calls for over an hour and 45-50 minutes was waiting. "Their agents are busy assisting other customers and will be with you shortly "! When I spoke with an agent, a supervisor and a company representative it was terrible conversation(s). They would ask a badly worded question and then not allow me to respond. If I spoke to them and asked a question, they would NOT answer my question. They continually cut me off and repeatedly said the same thing. Even after I said, I understand * they wouldn't listen or answer my questions. I want to say that my Customer Experience with intoxalock was the worst I have endured in the Last Few Years. Bad service, bad management, bad attitude, and BAD Company. read more

1st I would give 0 stars if it would allow me to. Yesterday I was helping someone whose car wouldn't start. I know the retest can pop up anytime so I waited till the retest to leave my vehicle to jump start the person's battery apparently not 5 mins later did the test pop again for another retest so I missed the Rollin test even though I just took one 3 mins before. When I asked the customer service person if he could help out in any way with the fee or even jus reset my device remotely and I was told by their employee oh well it's your problem wow that's jus amazing I will be disconnecting this service and goin with another service like smart start. This is not the first issue with these so called customer service people. I was lied to about pricing n never told about $75 fees I knew then to not use this company but I had already paid for installation so I was kinda forced to keep them otherwise I would a had to pay disconnection fee plus another installation fee with new company. The customer service if u can even call it that never can help has lied multiple times to me n now because I made the decision to help someone in need I'm told by the employee oh well it's your problem. I only have 1 month left to have this scam service n I am willing to pay all the fees to disconnect this service and not drive I don't care they have screwed me over too many times n the fact that I have 1 month left and I'm willing to stop using this scammer company should tell u everything. How can an employee never have an answer to help u out but he has an answer to tell me oh well it's your problem is jus amazing. Intoxalock sells faulty devices and is a system that sets you up to fail. I have been sober for almost 2 years and have never once failed a breath sample yet I am about to get a second 6-month extension for something that isn't my fault. The first time was a few weeks away from removal and they said I missed a retest but the device never made any noise and I was watching it and also had just turned my engine off, no music on and was still in the car- they did not care and even admitted they saw me exiting the vehicle- blew clean before and after within hours. Now, 6 months later finally; I am 9 days away from requesting a removal and my car battery died while I was asleep in my apartment due to colder temperatures. I reported this as soon as I woke up to the dead battery and violation message- I spoke with a rep and a supervisor and the DMV and no one could help me because I "didn't put in a maintenance request" however, how am I supposed to do that when the battery just died- I didn't plan on that happening? I took it to the service center and they tested my battery and alternator and said that nothing was wrong with my car, that the device drew too much power from the battery- now I'm out $120 for something that isn't my fault. Intoxalock wants you to keep paying them even if you do everything right and now it's looking like I'll have the device a year longer than the court ordered even though I've done everything in my power to comply with intoxalock's rules. They do not listen, they do not want to help, and they don't wish to rehabilitate- they want to drain your pockets and trap you in a never-ending cycle and ensure that you fail, no matter what you do. It has ruined the electrical system in my car, prevented me from getting my car fixed after someone hit me because my insurance's mechanics will not work with Intoxalock. Do EVERYTHING in your power to go with any provider BUT this one, if you ever want to move on with your life. read more

This company is unreliable, overpriced and will find any and every excuse to take money from you. Their customer service is a joke. Not only is it nearly impossible to get ahold of their representatives; they are also highly unhelpful in trying to resolve any issues you will certainly encounter! Please for the love of all that is good and beautiful go anywhere else! They're outdated and unreliable devices are faulty at best. This company has bought and paid for their trustpilot reviews. Worst cimpany to deal with they dont pay thier invoices. They say you will get a refund everytime they schedule an appointment it cost me money because theynever set the appointments up correctly. They owe me over $1200 for thier equipment malfunctioning and me being stranded and missing work. Just report them to the Better Business Bureau. Help@intoxalock.com is a joke. Their inbox is full and they reject your emails. Customer service is only good when you are paying and setting up your device. You'll never speak to a human besides that ever again. My device was to be taken out in October 2023 and it's not half way through December 2023. They are still taking my money biweekly, still making me calibrate the device. Still can't get ahold of a human. I have put in multiple device removal requests. I have called customer service to deal with a robot. I have called the state, my lawyer and even the judge to be told "call customer service". Since my device was installed, my lights go on at random times. I'm an asthmatic and I have almost died while driving multiple times breathing 3 or 4 times in a row into the machine because "breathe harder next time". You can't auto start your vehicle or be away from it in winter so you'll freeze until your car warms up and you can take off. I highly do not recommend this company or this device. read more

I have had the worst customer experience of my life with this company.They screwed my instal up by putting the wrong vehicle to be done after I had called them multiple times .I called today and was told that they would not put me through to a supervisor.Then the place doing the install told me they were not giving my vehicle back ,because it was in pieces .So ,this is something else.I was close to calling the police .Hours later after multiple calls and being talked to like I was a. child .I am using interlock until I can find another installer.This is like a criminal organization.It was a horrible experience read more

Terrible customer service. Device drains battery. Have to leave it plugged in to a charger. Had to switch vehicles had to pay the shop $200 then more to intxalock for the switching of vehicles. DMV is not getting the paperwork and for the 5 months it has been on DMV says I don't get credit and have to start over. Terrible company. Use someone else!!!!! read more

I have had this thing in for 7 months the first one kept giving false readings got anothe one put in it did good for a min then started showing ERR wen I blow all 0s and gave me 6 false readings wen I was On my way! to work at 630 am this is crazy because I don't drink like that if at all plus I'm in bed at 10pm and up for work at 5 am this ish is crazy and has me stressed out read more

Caught my DUI in 2012, had this device put in my car for the 1st time in 2016 by THEIR mechanic, paid them for 10 months of what was supposed to be a year long term and just when I thought i was getting close to a year, they told me the 10 months didn't count because I "didn't sign the equipment lease". The equipment ruined my vehicle with electrical issues and I had to buy numerous batteries due to the machine draining my battery so many times that I lost count. My 2nd time trying to work with them and having this machine in my car, for the same 2012 DUI, was from 2020 - Present!.. My lease was initially signed, but everytime I get an Eligibility Date for Removal, they make me sign a new "lease" or they will refuse to take my payment for Unlock/Calibration etc., forcing me to miss work and become more in debt. My Removal Eligibility Date has been pushed back by months, so many times, again I've lost count, but every time I'm going through a hardship and cant afford to pay, my car ends up down and I miss work. Already struggling to pay rent/bills, take care of my kids and make it to work, Intoxalock has refused take payment unless a new lease was signed, pushed my eligibility date back everytime my time is up, usually if I can't pay so my car would be down and in Lockout for weeks at a time, a few times, months. I get penalized by Intoxalock over and over for being poor, Im on a government program to afford a place to live and receive government assistance. I wasn't on any of these programs, in need of help until this 2nd time having the Intoxalock device in my vehicle (20' - 24'). More importantly, I've learned my lesson and am thankful for what the Judge sentenced me, because now I know better. But that was over 10 years ago and if anything drives me to need a drink, it's this abusive company taking all of my money, subject to have my right to travel taken away from me if I can't pay, when I don't have it. And then keeping me in this system and taking away from me and my children, LITERALLY. I have had the State Representative's Office in contact with Intoxalock on my behalf for a while now and without them finally letting me off of this machine, I think I have some people in my corner who understand and see what has been going on all these years. The Judge only sentenced me to have this machine in for a year, I haven't caught any new charges involving drinking, haven't been in any accidents and am thankful for Intoxalock making me realize with this machine, that even a little bit is too much, when it comes to drinking and driving. But to have me on it this long and refusing to let me go and continuously denying me account information when I owe, stopping me from making it to work and to my kids because I owe, etc .. for so long now. It's wrong! My State Representative's Office and I have a new point of contact, but at this point I'm tired of being bullied by the people and operators at Intoxalock, that I'm afraid to take the call because they might trick me again. My most recent Removal Eligibility Date was 9/9/24, before that July, 2024, before that, Oct., 2023 and so on and so on, i have my right to receive an actual license from the DMV, but Intoxalock still chooses to financially lynch me, instead of realizing my time is up. I am a 36 year old Native American/Black Father of 4 and I'm struggling to do for my family because I can't afford to pay Intoxalock in order to work consistently while waiting check to check, when i pay them weekly, for years. If I owe them they won't give me info on my account but when they want me to sign a "new Lease", they won't accept payment to get out of Lockout to drive.... This is cowardous, torturous, treasonous & tyrannous. I will be looking for more safe, yet public places to be heard! read more

To begin you will only be provided with good customer service when your paying and getting the device installed. After that, your on your own. This company has hidden fees which you won't find out about until after your first month, or when the device drains your battery. The device I had completely gave out and left me stranded. Towing comes with the package but you pay for it. So it's not free. If you get charged any accidental fees be ready to wait 3-4 weeks for a refund as they don't place notes. And it almost seems as if they want you to forget about their error fees and to stop calling them so they can keep your money. I've been waiting on a refund for 3 going on 4 weeks now and I doubt they're even working on it. Their customer service dept is rude, unprofessional and they will transfer you to many departments without providing you with any answers. Other than "Well look into it" read more

This device is very difficult to operate while driving it's dangerous.EVERY TIME IT MALFUNCTIONS THEY EFFECTIVELY RESTART YOUR TIME WITH THE STATE and charge you $100 regardless of whether it was your fault or not which is unlawful. Intoxalock will tell you that it is up to them to decide if you're in compliance to have the device removed but that is false. WAC 204-50-130 (1) "A manufacturer will determine a restricted operator's compliance of this section in accordance with RCW 46.20.720"RCW 46.20.720 Subsection (4) defines the requirements for removal including (4) "Requirements for removal. A restriction imposed under subsection (1)(c) or (d) of this section shall remain in effect until the department receives a declaration from the person's ignition interlock device vendor, in a form provided or approved by the department, certifying the following:"(a) "That there have been none of the following incidents in the one hundred eighty consecutive days prior to the date of release:(i) Any attempt to start the vehicle with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.04 or more unless a subsequent test performed within ten minutes registers a breath alcohol concentration lower than 0.04 and the digital image confirms the same person provided both samples" Also check out WAC 204-50-110 Mandatory requirements for an ignition interlock device. (1) Notwithstanding other provisions of this chapter, a certified ignition interlock device must: (h) Uniquely identify and record each time the vehicle is attempted to be started and/or started, the results of all tests, retests or failures as being a malfunction of the device or from the operator not meeting the requirements, how long the vehicle was operated, and any indication of bypassing or tampering with the ignition interlock device, or tests. Under this WAC they have to replace a faulty device within I think 48 hours. There are many other subsections so if Intoxalock is refusing a compliance report for you I recommend you Google the above mentioned WAC and RCWs to see which applies to your situation. I suspect this will be the case with a lot of intoxalock victims because from what I've read they've had a steep decline in business. Probably due to the negative reviews on any other site than Trustpilot who they pay to post bot reviews and delete negative reviews. read more

Paid an enrollment fee. My dad didn't have enough air to operate it. Paid to have it installed and removed through the mechanic. Had it in the truck for a week. Just long enough to get am appointment to get it taken out. Sitting there it locked out. Paid them over 200 dollars for nothing. Horrible customer service. Can't understand them. Then they threaten you and scam you and are rude. I can't exaggerate how bad this company is. Stay away if at all possible. Also charged my card without my permission. It was suppose to be a one time payment. This was for my dad. The card was not his it was mine. I was goin to call and pay them but that is beside the point. Run! read more

I chose Intoxalock for my IID. Unfortunately the technicians were unable to install the device due to some incompatibility. The local shop even called the technicians at Intoxalock for advice but nothing could be done to get it to work. I went with another manufacturer which worked great. Meanwhile I unable to contact Intoxalock either by calling them, texting them, or email about what happened. Once you agree over the phone to the service, they will completely block you from contacting them. Now, seven months later, they have sent my supposed bill to a collection agency. I've informed the CA DMV about them and lodged a complaint. I will now head over the the (toothless) BBB as a warning to others such as I'm doing now. BTW Smart Start worked great and was very accessible. Consider giving them a try instead. read more

I am 11 months sober. That would be a celebration, but the 10 months I have had with Intoxalock's IID during this time have been the worst 10 months of my life. I am on my third lockout violation in a week due to this device destroying my car battery (violation 11) during subzero temperatures and have received no assistance beyond, "Go get it reset at your service center for $75 and then somehow file a complaint with people that don't know what is happening." The reviews that you are seeing here are fake. First off, how the fuck is this scam other companies still going? If multiple reviews are about the same damn problem? Because guess what I came to see the same exact thing. My dad had one installed and when he got it, they told him to start his truck every couple days so it wouldn't kill his battery. Guess what? it killed his battery he doesn't have a car at the moment because of this. We already tried jumping it, that didn't do jack shit. Now, let me start on the fake ass customer service. Some lady name is Sharon and I believe answered sounded like she was going to be cool, she me that what I was asking wasn't part of her department so when she went to transfer me to a "new one" which would've been OK until it rang once and then hung up on me. When I called back, it doesn't give me an option to talk to customer service nor even look up my dad's account and talk to someone so they blocked my phone from doing that. Moral of the story don't use this shit ass service with their shit ass fake customer service it's all a scam and now they left someone that doesn't have money to get a new battery at the moment screwed out of the vehicle. Please look somewhere else, this company is abusive, they are ruining my life with so many fees. I spilled windshield washer fluid in my back seat and ended up failing me 3 times in a row. Thanks to that I had an entire year added to my restriction, I just want to move on with my life. I called their "specialty team" and all they said is that they can't help me, it was "my fault", I even took it to car toys and the device ended up being faulty so they swapped it out for me and apparently they have no record of that! I am aware, that I messed up first and foremost by getting into trouble by driving under the influence in the first place. Nothing good can come from this. For the sake of this review however I'd rather discuss the many downsides of this company of scammers. One of those unfortunate events you'll find yourself coming across is the interlock system installed in your vehicle. When this occurs... DO NOT use Intoxalock for your service provider. I can not stress enough baffled I am as to how this company of liars and theives can operate a business equivalent to calling a bank robber a good branch of banking service. I'd rate them in the negative numbers if I could! Let's get started: Upon agreeing with the terms of service associated with intoxalock, you will be given a brick sized device that you have to pay for to get installed as well as recalibrated in what they tell you is monthly. Instead of monthly the screen on the device will read violation and give you a lockdown every two weeks. This is of course when you didn't violate anything other than having a faulty device. If you do not drive your vehicle to place that installed the device to have the lockdown warning removed, your vehicle WILL NOT START! They give you an app which they'll tell you to install in order to "avoid lockouts" which is completely useless but you can call them right? After waiting on the phone, for an hour on a good day if you choose to call them and from what I've read from other reviews and YouTube complaints, additional fees added to your account by just calling. So, here's where the scam starts: The first calls will have you on the phone with a clear spoken person. They'll tell you they will look into the problem and then "beat around the bush" leaving you no choice but to pay for an extra calibration every month. The lockout fee set was at 75 dollars which they doubled and tripled costing around 225 everytime. You remember me telling you how it cost money to have the device simply in your car? Expect that to be added two and three times added to your credit card bill as well. If you have this device in your car for a year, you could be spending close to 3000 dollars in additional fees. "Run wire" is a reading that comes up often on the handheld device. If you ask your service station about this, they'll tell you Intoxalock is in the wrong, if you ask Intoxalock, the service station is the one who is incorrect. The most likely answer is that they're both in on the scam because you'll be given an additional fee at the service station anyway. If you are confused yet by the amount of money you have already spent, you shouldn't be as you are reading this correctly. Anyway, back to the phone calls. I forgot to mention the lack of communication they will have with the court system. So if you are on probation, need to contact or look at your status provided by the DMV, DO THIS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE as this company fails to provide this information to them! After they overcharge you constantly, then the service provider bills you too. Once they have you on the additional payments, expect the caller on the other line (English is my first language) to be a caller from outside of the United States. Other reviews I've read on people who have Spanish as their first language have similar complaints. In addition you will again be put on a "wild goose chase" in order to provide information they pretend to care about, only to take more of your money. One of the times I called, a guy on the other line was playing with his dog, borderline, ignoring what I was saying. Additional complaints that are frequently addressed that I myself didn't encounter but am in way surprised of include: 1. The device draining the battery of the vehicle 2. The newer cars unable to use the ignition because of the device. I was however told, I needed a new starter in my car when the frequent problem was either the wire, the device or a combination of both. 3. Falsifying car breakdowns. It should be noted however, that you must call your interlock service provider in case of breakdown and vehicle maintenance. It would also be nice if that information was given to you. 4. False samples (this one I see as a bit more understandable (mouthwash, certain foods etc.) But a false sample by a defective device seems to be moreso the common complaint. To end this long review not only should Intoxalock receive a lawsuit against them for the scam that they are, it should be reported to the Better Business Bureau. For quality of service, just take a look at their ratings. read more

Sooo, in this latest episode of "how can intoxalock make your day worse!" I shut my car off and went into a store to pick up a few things. Never once heard the device make a noise. Was in the store for a half hour and came back out to find that my device was in a lockout. I call the company, they say I'm in a lockout due to not blowing for the retest. Funny, my vehicle was turned off and I was inside the store when they say the retest went off. Even have pics from inside the store at the same time it was supposedly going off about a retest. I call the company, they say I had to have left my car running when it went off for a retest. Guess they don't realize that gas is too expensive right now to leave the car running. Now, I have had that device for over 2.5 years now and have never had a lockout for failing to retest or having alcohol in my system, I think I know how it works. Now I'm all the sudden being told that I have to wait for 2-3 minutes after shutting off my vehicle. I have never once been told that in the entire time I have had this garbage in my vehicle. Oh, I called a day later and the next agent I spoke with said that she was going to do an investigation and get back to me within 24 hours. That was Monday, 2 days ago. Btw, I have a camera in my vehicle and the lady told me that she could check the video to see if I had shut off and exited the vehicle before the restest went off. Plus, looking at the bill, it's not a $75 fee, it's an $80 fee. Think I'm gonna have to my lawyer in on this one. Intoxalock, ya'll have gotten enough of my damn money and if there was another company within 50 miles, I would drop your sorry company. Thank God I should only have a couple of months left with this crap! read more

. Overall this experience with Intoxalock has been AWFUL! -10/10 I DO NOT recommend this company. It's extremely difficult to get a hold of an actual person. They want you to use the app they provide WHICH doesn't even allow you to request a work order for calibrations through it. You have to go to the actual site and request them. I live an hour away from where I work so to have my vehicle good to go is an NEED. Friday my box just decided to crap the bed & need to be replaced. Intoxalock said bc it wasn't my fault they'd pay for the tow to the shop & back to wherever I needed it. I had to call their roadside assistance & roadside proceeded to tell me it only covers 15 miles so I had to pay the extra 17 miles each way. They tow it to the service center which by the time it got there they were closed & didn't open again till Monday. I call Intoxalock back telling them this & they continue to tell me it will be done Saturday even though the SERVICE CENTER ISNT OPEN TILL MONDAY. So I call Saturday just to check & NO ONE IS THERE, shocker. Monday I call the garage (meanwhile again I live an hour away from work & work Friday - Wednesday) they never received the part & don't have backups. So here I am Tuesday still waiting on a new box & customer service won't transfer me to a supervisor when I've asked SEVERAL times. After being on hold for 36 minutes waiting for a supervisor to talk to because I've been crashing on coworkers couches or UBERING an hour and back to work. THIS IS OUT OF HAND to say the least. They refuse to give me ANY paperwork on this situation showing what is going on so I can provide it to the courts. Save yourself more trouble & DO NOT use this company read more

They just charged me when I did not owe them any money. They just locked out my car for the third time claiming that I did not blow in time. The device says you have 4 minutes to blow and every 30 seconds it's beeping and saying that I did not blow in time. I was supposed to get it out March of 2020 and here we are February 2021. They called me and asked me if my car was my daily driver I answered yes and they said my machine is broke and they will fix it for free. Mean while they claim during the time it was broken I blew a .04 and they locked out my car. They just charged me $144.00 after I just paid them 630.00. I go to my car this morning to take my son to the dentist my car is locked out again. I call to ask why and they say I did not blow during a re-test. That's absolutely not true as I am extremely cautious sine the whole "machine is broken" incident and really really tired of them manipulating my machine. There is no way i missed a re-take the machine screams at me every time I don't blow hard enough and scream louder when If I miss a blow. This is complete insanity and beyond absurd. Now I have to pay for another tow truck to come out and take my car to get re-calibrated for the third time and pay them again on my dime. This is insanity and I need to find someone to help me because customer service is so rude and refuses to listen to the customer. At this point I think I may need a lawyer idk what else to do. If you like being financially raped then threatened with jail, Intoxilock is for you. The company needs to be shut down for fraud with a class action lawsuit and it is run by a bunch of crooks. The handheld is absolute garbage and goes off every 5 to 8 minutes screaming at you for another sample. It will shut down your engine without warning, with the alarm going off without a violation...it's really dangerous. When you call, they send you to Mumbai to a group of call center who are all con artists who don't speak English. I have had to buy a new battery, pay for false lockouts, and for service when it goes on the fritz through no fault of my own. They take no responsibility for their faulty product that is just as dangerous as drinking or texting while driving. They know damn well that they are the absolute worst company on earth and are proud of it. I have seriously have had thought of suicide so many times since this thing was installed. If you try and talk to someone in the courts about the criminal extortion they rely on for their shareholders] you are laughed at. There customer service is terrible. They just hang up on You. There equipment is old and runs your car. The tops falls off the machine and rolls under seats in the middle of machine going off. Truly extremely unsafe i Have almost got into so many accidents. They automatically charge you a 5.95 monthly protection plan fee. I have never signed anything to do with this. They refuse to refund me or take it off my plan. Complete crooks and the states should not allow how crooked they are. I had a Intoxalock representative talking to a DMV State person asking for something they needed and they were talking to them after the DMV State person and waited to get throw to a person took 30 mins and they were talking to him and I and since they didn't understand the sheet he was asking for they decided to hang up on them. They always hang up they don't understand English. The first person that sells you on this Intoxalock is from the US. After that good luck. I am uninstalling this device and going with another compan. DO NOT USE THIS fraudulent Company truly are Crooks. The states Minnesota and Wisconsin will here about this. I did my time. (5months), in regards to the device, the only complaint I have was draining my battery a couple of unexplained random times. Other than that, yes it was an inconvenience, but you get used of it. I drank and drove, and accept this "inconvenience" as It's better than killing someone. But with intoxalock, I feel extorted and now a hostage! First had to pay an extra month because they started billing me the day I gave them my information to get started, and yet to even have the device installed as my old car wasn't ready yet. Now I can't get a response on app or a live person, as I'm trying to get my device removed since my court order time has been up since a month ago. Nobody live is available except for the salesperson when you first sign up. The app is helpful, especially for taking your payment and scaring you with random warning signs now and then, reminding you a collaboration is due. But I have clicked on "DEVICES REMOVAL" for 5 weeks now and NOBODY has responded like their message says it will. The only notification I receive is my lease is about to expire again. I'm not paying or signing another lease until God or a lawyer appears and helps me get out of this kidnapping. read more

Horrible. Has a "rolling Lockout" was doing some monthly maitainance on my car. Checking fluids battery, etc... missed the time frame while checking the transmission fluid (car has to be running) was frantically blowing in the device would not take the "blow" time ran out and the lockout occurred. the device immediatly reset and within seconds i blew in it again and passed the test. tried to get them to reset without the fee...would not refund my $75. said i had already been given my " grace" reset (one that would be free), this one was due to my battery going dead....older vehicle (2007, no automatic turn off light device, left the lights on). I surely hope these people never experience any car trouble (battery dead), checking fluids etc.. and have to pay $75 bucks.....whatever happened to common courtesy (empathy) to people when they have the ability to check the camera and see you trying to "blow" (with the exact time to the second) then can see you blowing in it seconds later (on the camera) with the time(just seconds later with a pass. $$$$$$$$$$$ all bout the MONEY $$$$$$$$$$$$$ these people are NOT HUMAN!!!!!! read more

Dealing with their automated answering service is a labyrinth, forcing customers to play a guessing game just to talk to someone. And when you finally do, they apologize profusely but offer no solutions. The random lockouts are infuriating, triggered by minor issues like a slightly moved camera. It's absurd that such trivial matters result in being stranded. What's worse is that their team, despite understanding the frustration, refuses to take any meaningful action. Requests for refunds or transfers to supervisors are met with a firm "no," leaving customers feeling trapped in a service that cares more about extracting money than providing a reliable and reasonable experience. Do NOT use these crooks! Owned and/or operated by lawyers who specialize in breaking up American companies for foreign profit! I sincerely wish I would have read these reviews before allowing them to install an IID in my mother's vehicle. The original service center who installed it totally botched the job. Shotty wiring held together loosely by tape. The faulty wiring killed the battery in a brand new vehicle. We're lucky it didn't start the car on fire. We had to pay $400 to the mechanics to fix the wiring. A new IID can't even be installed without a complete rewiring...that's how bad the installers messed it up. As everyone else says, it's a pain in the @$$ to get ahold of their customer service. Multiple calls lasting 45+ minutes. They just bounce you around until they eventually hang up. So frustrating! They will not reimburse for the damage caused during installation. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY IF YOU HAVE A CHOICE!! read more

I had this company over 3 years ago and my car got locked out in the middle of my driveway because of a dead battery so I called them they said I was going to have to have my car towed to have it calibrated again this was not the first time I had problems with them had problems since day one with over billing and the equipment so that day I told them I want it out of my car so had to pay the company to come to my house and remove it costed me $375. This morning I was trying to set up an appointment to get my interlock device off after 2 years, and I spoke with somebody on the phone around 8:30 AM, they said it was all taken care of... However it wasn't... I called back this afternoon, and a wonderful person by the name of Kenya Holloway answered, and from then on took care of everything I needed to accomplish. She was so nice, and did everything she needed to do to make my experience go perfectly. Zero stars. This company is here to steal your money. The intoxilock drains your battery. The device malfunctioned and left me stranded on Thanksgiving. I've already violated 3 times and all were bs. Don't eat pizza and drive. I got a violation 11 for no reason and talked to 4 different people and they didn't resolve it. They tried to say I started my car without blowing into my machine. That's impossible. Then they tried to say I stepped on my brake pedal. That's a violation? What's that have to do with drinking a driving? DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY, At 1st it was fine, my truck just had a new engine installed and it died starting last week, so apparently in the middle of Corona virus, no work, no food, no money, they are charging me$75 for a "lock out" and another $35 to the shop recalibrating it. This is a HORRIBLE company, go with any ANY other breathalyzer company, just not this one. They will over charge all the time and you're forced to pay it.
