The Manager is a psychopath that was going to kick me out of my room for asking for a spare key until his assistant calmed him down, emphasizing "no refunds". I was put in a room with a leaking toilet that I was going to be blamed for so I put a stop payment through my bank and left a day early. The prices are so low because this place is horrendous and don't deserve your business. The key cards lose their magnetism on their own really quickly and good luck with getting the maintenance to come and open the door for you. Discovery Inn is just down the street and isn't much more expensive, maybe like 480$ a week, and it has everything you would expect, and better normal internet. The worst stay ever due to basic things not provided. Basically if you need anything more than a clean bed, DO NOT STAY HERE. Do you need internet? let me be clear... there is no internet and they actually block your hotspot with extra thick walls and no hotspots. I have great internet service off of my phone and couldn't get even that in my room. THE MOST RUDE PART WAS THAT THEY CONTINUED TO SAY THE WIFI WOULD BE FIXED WITHIN HOURS OR A DAY. It never was. I am serious. After two weeks of zoom calls that jeopardized my very work and day to day job, I ended up taking a loss on my stay there and staying at a Marriot. I stayed at multiple ESA locations and they all could not provide wifi beyond basic email, despite advertising high speed internet. If anyone is having problems, please reach out and I can help identify if they are screwing you over because I spent hours on the phone with their tech support and have actually become really smart about internet speeds and if they are providing what they say. Please send me a message if you think ESA is screwing you over. They owe me about $2k and won't return my calls. The worst hotel chain in history. If you work for ESA I'd love to update this review, but i've never heard back. read more

This place was nice while it lasted, that was until we went out to smoke a cigarette and have coffee in my vehicle one morning, just as we had any other morning our stay there and are swarmed by police out of nowhere. We were told someone made assumptions that we were making a 'drug deal' in the parking lot cuz someone kept going out to that car in a black hoodie. Hmm, my car yep that was me I have two vehicles fyi and the person in the car was staying with me as well as well as two children. Over 6 police cars, rolling up on a DV survivor... Yeah ask the cool maid, she could see how scared I was. Now this was all based off assumptions for one, two if your worried just ask questions it's not that hard. What was in the car and not even out at the time was medical cannabis. I understand you have rules, it was away and irregulardless of federal regulations (which should be changing in the near future per the officer) It was away, not out we respected your rules and the others staying. We're human beings with medical conditions and currently without a home because of shady landlords trying to make an extra buck and we cannot go without our meds. We kept it out of the building in my personal property locked away. So you might as well kick everyone out who needs meds for a medical condition. I appreciate getting my deposit back as I had scrubbed the room prior to leaving. However, your poor judgement made it so yet again we had to search for a hotel halfway decent. Don't count on where you get your information from, you've got worse people staying there then a couple of stoners with a medical condition. And the last thing I will say is that the maid that normally did the third floor was awesome. Very sweet, good conversations. You need more like her around there. And more people you allow to stay that the ladies can tolerate without issues. That is the only reason I won't leave a one star review. Hope you have better judgement in the future and no-one interrupts your AM coffee. read more

Awful place. Staff is unprofessional and extremely unhelpful. The room I stayed in was so dirty and outdated. Chipped and peeling paint, flooring coming up, stained carpet and walls. The comforters and curtains look as if they are from the 90s. The fridge had broken and cracked pieces inside and leaked daily. I saw various people be kicked out and even escorted out by police for breaking laws. The place does have basic necessities if you need a kitchenette. Would not recommend using the washer on site as I am not sure it's ever been cleaned. I was disgusted when I saw a washer pod hanging out of the lip of the washer, as I removed the pod there was gray sludge, trash and coins inside. Would try to find a different place to stay if possible. read more

Great hotel if your on a budget. A lot of drug activity going on. Some staff are biased and discriminating not to mention the staff needs to be drug tested as its apparent methamphetamine seems prevalent. Customer service is lacking. I hope corporate truly sees what's actually going on there. It's horrid. Also I had just purchased brand new ear phones that were suddenly missing from my room. Upon arriving to my room my key card didn't work. Finally, after entering my room I noticed my ear phones, where I normally put them, are gone. Again, great if your on a budget...but you get what you pay for and all the madness that comes along with it. Plus, there isn't much reviews on Yelp. Go to Google Reviews for this place. Enough said. Great Place to stay for long periods of time if you are inbetween places. Can be a little pricey at first but they take off taxes after you have an extended stay. I lived in one for a full year and had no problems. Gave me the time needed to get the money together for a new place. read more

She lied that there was no reservation when seen in person, but later when I called she said there was one and when I told her why she lied she started lying even more. I asked her for her name and she said I already gave it to you. She said the workers should be drug tested?!? Who says that? This is a great motel! Check in during business hours though. Once/if you get inside your room, you're greeted with a really small room. However, it's a kitchenette, so it included a fridge, stove, cupboards, and kitchen sink! And not like a mini-fridge you'll find at Super 8, but a full-fledged fridge. Their Internet was probably one of the fastest connections I've had lately, seeing how I recently became homeless and we've been hopping around a bunch of motels between Provo and SLC lately. In comparison, we've stayed at 4 different Super 8s in just this month, and every single one had terrible Internet. The beds were comfortable, but as usual with motels, we brought our own pillows. My only complaint is that the TV had a thick yellow streak across it. Other than that, would recommend! read more

This is about the 7th time that we have stayed in this hotel. We normally stay between 2 - 3 weeks. The front desk is responsive and friendly. Great WiFi hi-speed. The bus stop to Solitude & Brighton is close AND you are the first stop. Very important as at all other bus stops, no one else gets seats on the bus it is so crowded. Epic Pass Holders ride for free. Need exact change to ride otherwise unfortunately. The bus has a place to put your skis/boards "Savers", a 2nd hand store is in walking distance if you forget something. There are some decent eateries in walking distance. Ask to stay on the SKIERS floor, as sometimes there are a lot of us coming from Canada and Australia to stay. That way we can get to know each other as we trek through the hallways with our skis. Great friendships being made! The rooms were clean.They only provide towels, soap and toilet paper to get you started when you first move in. The rest of the time you are on your own. Room cleaning once a week. The low star rating for this hotel isn't deserved. This is the CHEAPEST long stay hotel in Salt Lake City. And it is the most centrally located. It attracts a lot of people who have champagne tastes on beer money. The criticisms that I am reading are in my opinion, "revenge" postings that are unjustified. Your expectations of service should be inline with your budget! Both people working the front desk went over and above to accommodate my requests. We had very small leak under the sink which I could catch in a cereal bowl, and they had maintenance up within 24 hours to fix it. The noise levels from our fellow lodgers was negligible. I saw no signs of drug dealing or illicit activity at this hotel despite being alert for it based on previous commenters feedback. I would consider both the hotel & location very safe for a woman travelling alone. I would definitely stay again! read more

WORST experience ever which started before I even checked in!!! I made my reservation online and made it for 9 days and paid. I changed my reservation to check in a day early but became concerned when all the emails still had the original check in date. I called and the assistant manager was unbelievably rude. She then proceeded to tell me that they had pipes burst and they no longer have a queen suite available but they could upgrade me to a full suite but I would have to pay the difference!! WHAT?! I am sorry that pipes broke but that doesn't mean you put out your guest and tell them you no longer have a queen room available so they have to pay more money! Lucky for me when I did check in there was a queen suite available. The assistant manager at that point was nicer but still lacking. I went into the room and tried to settle in. Checked in Tuesday night and Wednesday morning they came to clean, we told them that wasn't needed but next Wednesday for sure. As a last minute change my son and his service animal stayed with us and they were very accommodating with both of them. After the first week luckily I get a call asking if I planned on staying with them. I said yes I booked the room through the 9th and paid online. I was then informed at that time that I was only charged for a week and now I had to go online every day and pay the daily room rate before 12 or be charged a late fee! Then we ran out of TP and when we asked for more we were informed at that time that they only give you 1 roll then you have to buy your own!!!! A little communication sure would have been nice. Then a week had passed and no cleaning crew showed up on Wednesday and I figure whatever at this point we are leaving Friday morning. Well we checked out Friday morning before 8 AM and I called 5 days later asking about my $50.00 and guess what... They are keeping $25.00 for pet hair that I was only told at this time that I was responsible for!!!! The room was no more than 300 square feet with furniture there is no way can they justify keeping half of the deposit not to mention if they have came in and cleaned on Wednesday like they were suppose to it would have been better. Oh and not to mention that my key cards stopped working 3 times all within 10 days!!! Beware I will never stay here again; I will pay rent for 2 homes before I EVER stay here again. Communication is lacking and the service was overall horrible because there was no communication and ironically the missing communication was all about things that ultimately cost me more and lined their pockets!! read more

I can't say much about the rooms here considering I never made it inside. Like the other review stated, the general manager, Matthew Butterfield, is a monster. My boyfriend and I drove from Boston to SLC and made a reservation for two weeks online. We were in contact with the office during our drive because we weren't sure if we would make it on Friday or Saturday. We showed up Friday 6/20 @ 7:09pm and the manager was still there. He turned us away in person stating the office closed at 7pm and there was nothing he could do to accommodate. When we came in the next morning I knew right away he was going to treat us like dirt. He informed us that our reservation was cancelled and 5 other people had taken up the available rooms since the night before. Apparently there is a number to call to make reservations after 7pm and he did not think to mention it to us. I wish I could give Intown Suites no stars. The manager, Matthew Butterfield, needs to be reported to corporate and not have a job there anymore. I have never been so disrespected in my life. If you need a place to stay call Extended Stay America. They are accommodating and have outstanding customer service. Not to mention it doesn't look dumpy like Intown. read more

I had the misfortune of staying at the Intown Suites in Midvale. I would highly advise you avoid making the same mistake. The rooms were awful; there was a strong odor, covering a smell of cigarette smoke which was also pervasive at times. No amenities provided; although this is not atypical for extended stay locations. Location was in a rough part of town. Police were frequently visiting. Atmosphere was not inviting, with scruffy individuals walking around with open bottles of alcohol frequently. The walls were paper-thin; any noise quickly resonated throughout. The room was dirty; when I arrived the table had sticky substances on it that required me to go purchase a tablecloth. The pillows were plastic. The linens were not changed, and were of inferior quality to begin with. The business policies are ludicrous. Despite being on a corporate card, I had to sign a stack of papers each week and get new keys. There was no way around this, even when I had to work late and the Intown Suites office was closed. After four weeks of staying my corporate card declined on one of the "renewal days" due to a max spending limit that had been hit. I called Intown Suites and thought it was resolved as I heard nothing further. I went that evening at 9:30pm after a long day at the office where I am an engineering management consultant to complete the insane process of re-registering, a time consuming process. I was informed that I had been essentially evicted from my room due to non-payment. I promptly pulled out my wallet to pay on my personal credit card which I knew could be reimbursed later by the company. They refused to accept it, stating that credit cards could only be processed between the hours of 11am and 7:30pm. The business acumen of these individuals is abominable. Despite having a handful of credit cards and being ready and willing to pay they would not accept it, forcing me to stay out of my room without access to my personal belongings which were wrongfully withheld from me. I was told stepping into my room would be a violation of policy. I wound up having to return and sleep on the office floor without access to clothes or any other personal belongings. Despite coming up with several ingenious proposals, including letting the manager write down my credit card number to run in his computers once they were up again, they staunchly refused. I tried calling the national number for Intown Suites hoping someone would have the sense to be able to process a credit card. Again, to no avail, I was given a run-around to a voicemail, and upon trying to call back, the lines weren't answering. There is no national help line. I strongly advise you to go nowhere near this place! read more

I stayed several months at 151 W. 7200 S. Midvale, Utah. Due to a new job opportunity for my husband, we were planning on getting an apartment sooner but life events would not allow us. This has been the worst experience in my life not only was I treated with no respect, management and staff treat us like if we were living there for free, when we were always paying on time no causing a problem or disturbance yet on 01/19/2018 we got kicked out just because my kids had asked Greg ( manager) to activate their key since they were waiting for my uncle to come and picked them up after school, I had started a new job at Comcast and my aunt who takes care of my kids was running late and being the first week of my new employment I couldn't be late. I had made arrangements with my aunt to pick them up and she did. When my husband called to get assistance because we couldn't go pay at 11:00 A.M due to our work hours. He called Greg and asked him if we could do a payment over the phone as that he replied NO didn't even mentioned that we could pay online but since I had worked in Hotels and Call centers I know there is an option of self payments online which was giving me problems since my last name did not matched my account. I asked my husband to ask Greg why we weren't unable to make that payment online and he straight refuse to assist us. He replied that there was nothing he could do. My husband took some time from work to go make that payment and not get charged a late fee. When my husband arrived at the front desk the manager told him that our kids could not stay alone and that we needed to leave. I feel like that was not his problem when I had already made arrangements with my aunt and it didn't even took her 10 minutes to get them besides that Greg knew that there were going to be days that they had to be alone in their room for at least 15 minutes until my husband would get home and he said it was fine. The time I stayed here I felt treated like a homeless, I understand this area is not a good area since I did see a lot of drug activity specially from staff at night there is always people not guest, walking in there knocking on the lady that helps after hours and this is all night. Also there are a lot of homeless hanging out. Once I came from work and saw a homeless sleeping in the hallway. And yet I get kicked out for something so small that doesn't hurt the hotel? Not only did he kicked us out but made us look bad and we can't rent in any other locations. All this was because I complain about housekeeping before. I have worked for big companies, I have a clean background, I have management experience and overall this is the worst experience of my life. I have left and will continue to leave bad reviews until I get a solution. The staff is making your company lose money and loyal guest. Act now! Check your Google reviews if you don't believe me. The rooms are pretty nice and the location is great. However, the staff utterly and completely destroyed the experience,especially the management. I had been warned of the staff from other reviews but I blew it off as probably just people being picky or being bad guests. Before I say what happened, let me tell you I am a successful young professional that is university educated, has spotless credit, attends church every sunday and am overall a good citizen from a good family. However, after being happy with the beginning of my stay at Intown Suites I decided to extend. When I requested the extension I was informed that I could not do that due to the staff believing I was a methamphetamine addict. I was shocked and appalled and attempted to communicate with the general manager. However he wasn't having it. Anyway, I had never been so offended by someone who would suggest such a thing since I don't even drink nor smoke cigarettes let alone use drugs. Please keep in mind, I drive a nice clean car, paid with an American Express card, and have a professional appearance and good manners. There was absolutely no reason for them to insult me like this.
