So a little history...I'm an active 43 year old who in the past year developed a scary sharp random…read moreknee pain...it hurt when walking/standing/sitting. I enjoy paddle boarding and running and this pain made these things difficult. My mind of course went to worst case scenario...."I'm not going to be able to be as active, I'm going to have some kind of knee surgery...I can't take off work..."on and on. I've always enjoyed yoga, but hadn't been able to find a studio that I truly enjoyed, so when I came across Thee House of Yoga's and also Jenna's message on her page I was sold. I signed up for a few classes and let me tell you....after a couple weeks of Jenna and Michaela's classes...I had ZERO knee pain. I hadn't even expected this benefit! I sincerely believe that their classes and instruction fixed whatever was going on with my knee, in addition to making me feel more connected mind and body. The place is on the smaller side and was packed. I'm sure the kids being on break had it more slammed than normal. The entire place was nice and cleaned (very organized). It is definitely expensive and not something we would do again soon. Maybe a mom night out in the future. I deducted a star because honestly parking is a nightmare. I was not familiar with the area and there was street parking... random paying parking, there was no clear sign for the parking behind their building (an email said that there was parking behind there). This place would be soooo great if there was a real parking lot, maybe in the future in another location. I do recommend this as something fun to do.

I can't say enough about what a great experience it was. Sensei Al teaches Zen in the traditional way, but is not off-putting, stuffy or dismissive of those who are just starting out. It was a great retreat, and even though I live a few hours away from his Zen center, I definitely will be driving up there one weekend to do some meditation and hear some dharma talks there.

He said he text me at 3:30pm On Thursday and asked to confirm by 5pm for a 6pm appointment. I was working and had my phone on silent (I work from home and have my laptop with me)... I got off at 5pm to leave for the appointment, saw the messages and called right away. He wouldn't budge and cancelled my appointment. He did not tell me on Wednesday, when I scheduled the appointment, that I would need to confirm the appointment the next day... I would have turned my phone off silent or called before 5pm. What a wonderful way to disappoint my 11 & 13 year old horse loving daughters... we are here from South Dakota visiting. His mom is an even bigger problem, she has an even worse attitude. STAY AWAY! On a positive note, Whispering Pines Equestrian LLC was really nice and offered to let my girls go to their day camp on Friday for half the cost of this place.
