I get the impression the teachers really like working there, too. Everyone is always friendly and welcoming, lots of smiles. The kids learn in what I would call a playful way and seem to have lots of fun. I often wait until the classes are over, working on my laptop in the small lobby. I have yet to see a crying child, which In my opinion equals a little miracle. The kids don't get "drilled", disciplined or coerced into learning, as we have seen happen while touring other schools (to the point where it felt like we stepped into some authoritarian institution in Beijing). But I digress: What's important is that our daughter is always happy to go to Yak Academy. She's having fun while learning and is always cheerful when she comes out of the classroom. My Darling little Daughter has been attending Torrance Chinese School since September 14. We do not…read morespeak Chinese at home, so from the time she started at the beginners level 6months ago, her grasp of the language not only in reading but speaking is really impressive. Even though Torrance Chinese School is the only school we have enrolled her in, we are so happy we chose the right school. My daughter enjoys the class, which encourages active class participation and weekly homework-- sent in with using audio files to the teacher. School starts at 9am-12noon Every Saturday, at West High. There are two 10mins breaks, where parents go in turns to bring snacks for the kids. On average parents turn to bring in snacks will be twice annually. They recently had a fundraiser at Panda Express, which was chaotic for the staff & parents but I'm happy to support the school in anyway. However, it will be my last visit to Panda Express on fundraiser days... Will leave that to my Hubby to wait in the line & bring back home! TCC, also had a relay track & field day, where all the students participated in sprinting & group relays. TCC is very affordable, if you have considered your child learning to speak the language of the future, I highly recommend you consider Torrance Chinese School.

We found Torrance Chinese School and decided the Traditional Chinese track was the one for us. My boys have been studying at TCS for a few years. They are now in T3 and T5. I find that the teachers are very patient with my kids and they have learned so much. They have taken part in competitions in speech, poster, and calligraphy. The top 3 students in their level go on to compete with other Southern California Chinese Schools in Arcadia. These are great experiences for them. It is also good for us as a family to be a part of this community. As we started taking a more active role in helping TCS, we have made a lot of great friends. We hope our kids can keep up their Chinese education and graduate from TCS.
