At first glance (and visit) I thought to myself..."how could anyone hate on this place!?"…read more It's so lovely and vibrant and buzzing and cool. Approved by the Hipster Association Berlin. HAB! And it is. A bit too cool for school. As it were. Sometimes the staff is super nice and friendly and other times you'll feel like you've interrupted an episode of The Real World Berlin. Sometimes snobby, sometimes fantastic. The upside? Plenty of tables, outlets, work space, energy, creativity, networking opps, clean bathrooms, decent light food options, fresh juices, etc. The downside? The 'tude. It is out in full effect. Still, I enjoyed several afternoons here. Even when the guy yelled at me for drinking my own water...even though...they have free tap water. Still. I enjoyed it. I get the policy, bro...no need to freak. We've got everything under control.

And so unlike NY, you can actually go to places like these after dark, have a glass of wine, and quietly read a book. I didn't get to check out the food selection too much but I did have a slice of chocolate cake that had dark cherries and hot pepper and the combination was awesome! If I lived in Berlin if definitely be hanging out at these places.
