I'm a pretty private person; I like my solitude and I like being able to do my own thing away from scrutiny and the watching eyes of Big Brother, and as a result, I absolutely loathe internet cafes. When I have to use one, I sit there on the computer, scowling at the screen with my eyes constantly darting left and right trying to catch anyone spying on me whilst trying to perform my task in the smallest window I possibly can.
I'm a little paranoid.
Which is why, when I need to, I use Internet City. The computers are partitioned well enough to hide your screen from the encroaching eyes of the maniacs around you, all of whom want to steal your precious information and the staff have a rather laissez-faire attitude towards your activities. Whereas other cafes have some militant lunatic monitoring your screen from his central hub, the staff here happily chat to customers, occasionally pop outside for a cigarette and just generally seem rather happy to just let people get on with what they need to do.
I realise this review makes me sound like a bit of a Unabomber, but if I need to dive into an internet cafe, it's usually to transfer funds from an online bank account. This is the only cafe where I've felt (reasonably) safe doing so. read more
