I came here for work so I cant speak to the medical care here. The campus was well labeled and I was able to find my meeting place very easily. Parking was easy, no complaints. And surprisingly, the hospital cafeteria was very good. I have quite a bit of trauma over the years eating in hospital cafeterias and this place was a pleasant surprise and my colleague suggested we check it out. I had a tofu bowl and it was delicious! I also had some fresh pineapple and a diet soda. Prices were reasonable and Id definitely return. The place was swarming with hospital staff and was hard to find a place to sit, so snag your seat quickly. The views are so sick of the mountains, Id never get tired of looking at the mountains here in Utah. Id definitely return and normally I avoid hospital cafeterias like the plague. read more

My wife went in for reconstructive surgery of her elbow, the injury of which is a result of a fall. Places like hospitals, grocery stores, some chain restaurants will always have negative reviews because of the thousands of customers they serve and because of the human factor where things will never be perfect and many will come online to vent their dissatisfaction. All understandable. Our experience here was extremely positive. The experience started with the whole network from their Urgent Care, which was wonderful, to the CT scans, to the physician to this hospital. All in the Intermountain system. The doctor was down to earth, explained everything, entertained and answered questions, friendly, assuring, positive. From checking in at the front desk to post-op care, all the staff, the nurses and attendants were very helpful and friendly and supportive. This goes for their urgent care services as well. Gotta put in a plug for their cafeteria, which isn't a cafeteria, it's a food mall! So many choices: pizza, make your own salad, make your own sandwich, soup, grilled items, deserts, coffee/hot chocolate/steamed milk/smoothie station, etc. Tons of grab and go options. Even can get grilled salmon. I had a sandwich toasted and it was great along with a small bowl of vegetable beef soup. Very reasonable prices. If you don't want to eat here, there are enough good options nearby. It is a comfortable hospital, the waiting rooms were spacious with "comfortable" chairs. I put that in quotes because the chairs really gave me a sore bottom. Plenty of electric outlets and free WiFi. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Would definitely recommend you trying it to get your own take on it. 2* = Not so good. Would not recommend at all. Waste of money. 1* = How are they still in business? I took my mother to the emergency room on 3/26/26. She had fallen a few days before and hit her head, but refused to go to the hospital. On 3/26 she was acting confused and I wanted a test for a uti. Her doctor wanted blood panel and ct scan. WE ONLY WERE IN THE EMERGENCY ROOM. Due to results of the ct scan a doctor suggested admitting her for "observation ". We refused and were allowed to leave with instructions. The hospital is overcharcing, saying she was admitted, to a 1 day stay and changing a EMERGENCY room copay $115 to a 1 day hospital admittance copay of $395. They will get that over my dead body. Im ready to fight this. IMC Murray used to be a quality center. Go to Holy Cross instead.Medical assistants also made my mom cry as they told her that people who use incontinence briefs stink as they were catheterizing her for the urine specimen and made unkind comments about her loose wrinkled skin. The parking lot is open and well lit. My initial assessment was excellent and I was referred to their Neuro Trauma group and I was seen almost immediately by them. An excellent team and they continue to see me for my fractured lower back that was caused by a significant fall. What I didn't realize is that the fall also caused hidden damage to my shoulder joint. About 3 weeks ago I went to their Emergency Room and was assessed by the ER attending. A X-ray was done but not a MRI. When my assessment was completed, I was told that I have significant arthritis and that is the cause of my pain. At the age of 80 I'm very certain that I do have arthritis in multiple joints in my body. However, this pain came on very suddenly. The painful arthritic joints evolved over time. Years, not in two weeks. I was advised to use icy hot on this joint. Surprisingly it does work, for about 20 minutes at most. In conclusion I'm seeking out more definitive care at another Medical Center in SLC. In addition the doctor said, "I see that you have worked in the medical profession in the past". They gave us a price and financial agreement for upgrading to torric lenses. The bill for the lenses, not the surgery was 120%higher. After bullying and trying to intimidate us, they removed the duplicate charge, but they still 20% higher that the original price. They didn't bother to call back about the dispute even if they assured me every time they would. My mother-in-law had a lumpectomy that resulted in her going into afib after surgery. We live in Arizona and could not be there for her surgery. We have been calling for 16 hours trying to get an update but the NURSES ARE ALWAYS DOING REPORTS and do not call back. We have no way to check on our mom and the staff won't call us back. I felt like we had an overall pleasant experience here. My husband had to have a procedure done and everything went well. Every single person working here was so nice and had a great energy about them. I felt like he was in very good hands and one of the nurses even went above and beyond to give him peace of mind (wish I had caught her name). They were great with communication until the very end. There was a little confusion about where I was supposed to go once he was in recovery. I was told to go to the waiting room and they said which room he'd be in. I went to the waiting room and no one was there. It was around 12:00, so I figured everyone was at lunch. I waited there for an hour before I realized I needed to use the phone in the waiting room to call the people in recovery to let me in. I guess it's technically my bad for not reading all of the signs in the lobby, but I wish I had been told that over the phone. After he had been home for a few days, he called back with a question. He felt like the person on the phone was inconvenienced by him and was rushing to get off of the phone. He didn't really get the answer he needed, but we were able to figure something out. POOR. Multiple reasons. Mainly lack of pain control. Being dismissive of a chronic and painful neurological disorder. After covid in 9/22, my head started spinning to the left and I had zero control. The spasms were uncontrollable and more painful than I can explain. It wasn't until after 3 ER visits (it was unusual for me to go to the ER) that I realized they truly didn't believe me and could care less. It wasn't until til I went to IHC Help Ctr that the psychiatrist believed me. Imagine that? It took a psychiatrist in order to get me some help!!! Even the physical therapist was dismissive. This is how I learned that my "10" in pain comes across as nausea. IHC as a whole, left me in chronic pain for almost 10 months until I could finally get in to see a neurologist. 10 months of excruciating neck/shoulder/pec/back spasms. They don't care. If it wasn't from a favor from another Dr who referred me to a private clinic, I wouldn't have a Neurologist. IHC offered me a Physiatrist and even that didn't happen until 5/31/23 and it was like pulling teeth to get anything moving. 10 months of trying any other source to make it stop (heat, LED Red light therapy, special heating pad that wraps around neck, neck collar, you name it...). Endometrial biopsy with zero numbing, pain or anxiety meds. 3 biopsy needles were shoved individually through my cervix and then through into the inside of my body. 3!!! After I allowed the training APRN to do her first endo biopsy, the 2nd APRN did 2 more biopsies. The training APRN grabbed my arm because she could see I was in agony. I love this OBGYN office and the staff, but that was really painful and I bled for 2 days. I did call the office to give feedback and ask them to please never make anyone go through that without pain control. 5.5 hour complicated Hysterectomy with an endometriosis specialist brought in because it was everywhere. Was given 3 days of pain meds. 3 days for a 5.5 hr surgery where my reproductive system was removed and tissue was likely burned off everywhere inside. If I was a man they likely would have kept me overnight. Again, I love this OBGYN office but I am not OK with how IHC handles pain. After a terrible experience in March with the old director of surgery that just so happened to do my colonoscopy. Dr Mark Ott said "You talk too much" and immediately told the Mountain West Anesthesiologist to "Put her out". Now I'm more afraid of having to have a surgery more than I ever have been before. Some of the providers are really great and do listen. Some really do care. But you get those few physicians that think they are above anything and everything It's the "God Complex". My friend suffered a severe head injury while skiing and was in this wonderful hospital. While here I ate at the cafeteria/ cafe on the first floor. I was concerned about eating at a "hospital cafeteria." I was blown away by the food: quality and variety. I was also overwhelmed by the views and the very gracious and kind staff. Shocking was the very low prices. Ex: I had a delicious bacon, cheese, omelette with veggies as well, two strips of bacon, banana, orange juice, and coffee for less than $7. Unbelievable!!! So much that put this Yelp in. If I lived in the area I would eat here weekly several times even if I did not have anyone staying in the hospital; the food is that good all day and every meal. Cellulitis fever. This disease requires antibiotic intervention. After 4 full weeks in an out of state hospital ... 4 days then follow ups while having to stay in strange apartment environment to get care locally... finally home after fighting a complete backside of body with antibiotics to wound care and having been given an antibiotic i was allergic to so broke out in alligator skin shrinking and hands curling up tight SHOCK and added body wide new rash I top of cellulitis my stay ran out and I got my daughter to fly up to drive me and car back I HAVE ANOTHER REACTION which caused a fever. I really thought IHC MEDICAL HOSPITAL was the newer and great hospital so the ambulance took me there. My body was half cured but I was scared about the fever. After telling doctor everything which included the allergic reaction from allergy to sulfate pills I was given he took my blood. I was left for hours without food or water laying on a bed. One must keep moving and laying on excruciating backside for so long was a recipe for disaster. Only because I unplugged myself from everything and walked out to go to the bathroom did they realize I was still alive!!! Indeed they were busy. The waiting room was packed but no one was lethal. With no breakfast and only a single glass of water i could feel i was losing my strength. So I unplugged myself from everything and told them i could not lay in there. I was hungry. Only as I walked out did they give me a box of food. Attitude seemed worse when I said I was leaving. They wrote a script for another hard to swallow (I told them i almost died from previous wrong pills I was allergic to so they gave me another script for big white tablets. Maybe they are hoping to get rid of another sick person? Day2 waiting on script all day only to get big fat white tablets like the ones I almost choked on!!!!! I ask pharmacist to call for a script without hard white tablets but they say NOPE which basically translates to hopefully you will choke to death. Refused to write alternate script. I tried cutting them in half and using scissor to sculpture the edges to avoid more cut throat injuries. When that didn't fly I smashed them and tried in honey and in applesauce. THESE MUST BE PURE RAT POISON! NEVER EVER TASTED SMYRNA ANYTHING SO POISONOUS TASTING. I HAVE TO THROW THEM AWAY AND FIGHT THIS HELL WITHOUT DRUGS because they are too lazy and unconcerned about the patient. Two minutes was too big as ask? So my doctors office was closed by then. I guess cellulitis will win this round. Maybe I will live or not but one thing I know is I will never go to IHC EMERGENCY ROOM again...fever or not. Nurses were nice but the doctor acted annoyed that I was taking up space for such a small issue like cellulitis which is lethal if you don't get the right antibiotic immediately. SAD! read more

I was there many times since I was last seen by my heart doctor who had done Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement installed in my heart last year. My doctor is very knowledgeable of what he was doing and after the procedure, he talked to me about my heart and how to be careful prescribed a medication for me to take everyday to help me with my full recovery. In my experience, Intermountain Health Care is incapable of processing insurance correctly. Every time I go to one of the Intermountain hospitals my insurance is incorrectly billed, or takes longer than a year to figure out how to bill my insurance. In 2019, I went to a primary care physician that was setup by the VA. Months after the visit, I received the first bill. This should have been completely covered by the VA so I called Intermountain Health's billing department and they could see where the VA had provided the information for insurance and said the billing would be processed correctly. After 10 months of receiving this bill and calling to ensure my bill would not be turned over to collecting I finally got someone on the phone who knew what the issue was and how to resolve the problem correctly. During this time I also had the VA call and discuss the billing with Intermountain which still did not resolve the issue. In December 2022, I took a COVID test with Intermountain. I received a bill 2/27/2024 for these services. (The exorbitant charges are another issues that I will not discuss in this review). 15 months to receive a bill is unreasonable! I couldn't imagine any local business waiting 15 months to bill me for services rendered. I have several other examples of similar issues. Because of Intermountain's lacking concern for their patients (ie limiting the amount of time doctors are allowed to be face to face with you to prioritize quantity of quality), and focus on making profits, I attempt to go to anyplace other than Intermountain. Additionally, if I do go to Intermountain, I just pay the bill because my time is worth more than the hours of frustration I feel after speaking with the incompetent billing department. read more

The more you complain the more they seem to write notes in your chart. They will lie, both in the ER and at least the Park City specialty clinics. Can't eat or drink for days? They don't care. Bleeding profusely out of your rectum on blood thinners? They don't care or will call it hemorrhoids without an examination. Did you tell your specialist you're in pain and asked for solutions? They will accuse you of drug seeking even if you never mentioned medication. Ask to be hospitalized because of your symptoms? They doctor will tell you you're taking a bed away from the heart attack across the hall. At this point I trust them so little, I'm not even sure if that's my blood work and they won't give you your scans, just how the doctor felt about them. They will lie and hide abnormal labs in your chart and tell you it's fine. The doctors in the ER will deny you any ability to talk to the social workers or any mental health care, and accuse you of manipulation when you are to the point of wanting to die because they will do nothing about your inability to eat or drink even water. If these doctors have not already killed someone from these behaviors they will very soon. Till then bring as many people along with you so you have witnesses in court, because they only language IHC and especially the ER departments or clinics for that matter speak is money. read more

Watched a family member go downhill during first day after admission. After repeated request for nurses to send a doctor, they sent security instead. Ironically, he was the most caring and compassionate person we had seen all day. When Dr. Ayers did come in, he couldn't have cared less and brushed off our concerns. When we contacted the patient advocate to ask about the process of transferring hospitals, he was rude, sounded offended, and said, "We are a level 1 trauma center. We don't transfer patients out, patients are transferred to us." Apparently he was a hospital advocate, not a patient advocate. Feeling like we had no option, we stayed. A few hours later after a shift change we finally had a caring, competent medical team, but it was too late. His vitals had tanked and he was in septic shock. He fought hard, but we lost him 12 days later. The next time my family needs hospital care, IMC will be our last resort. read more

Providers say that they will come by between set times, never show. I waited in my grandmothers room for two days, only for nobody to show up. I get they are busy, but my time is available too. This review is for OFFICE OF PATIENT EXPERIENCE in response to a recent review of TOSH IMAGING SERVICES that I wrote. For greater context on this review, please refer to that page. This review is also posted there. -- It's interesting because I don't think that most people know that there is an Office of Patient Experience or such things as "Patient Advocates". I know I didn't. When I was unhappy with the imaging report I received from TOSH Imaging Services, I tried to contact the imaging office and was told that because of "patient privacy" they couldn't do anything for me, which sounded like the biggest copout I'd ever heard. So I wrote my review expressing my displeasure over that part of the experience (though the actual experience of getting my imaging went very well and I was very happy with it). In the past month I have worked with someone named Jodi A. (not giving the full last name for her privacy) and she did a very good job at being professional, understanding, and helpful in this situation. I was able to get the addendum that I wanted without much more hassle on my end, and I hope not too much on her end. The addendum was more detailed and I was very satisfied with it. I am posting this review here because this is the address on her emails. I am happy to know that Intermountain has a patient advocate office and I think more people should be made aware of this so that they don't feel lost in what seems like a huge industrial medical machine. read more

I've had three out of three bad experiences at this IMC hospital. Incident 1: When my insurance changed some years ago, I needed to change neurosurgeons from the U to IMC for degenerative disc disease/early onset osteoarthritis. I made sure to have all my records sent, then never heard anything. When I followed up, they told me "Dr. said he can't help you" and I needed to pick up my files. I was dismissed without the opportunity to have a consultation or be examined. That's just wrong. At a different hospital, I have since had necessary laminectomies, discectomy and fusion of cervical and lumbar spine, plus a nerve stimulator implant due to nerve damage and prolapse. Thankfully, I am walking and doing pretty well, no thanks to IMC. Incident 2: After an auto accident, I was taken by ambulance to IMC, and they took forever for me to be taken back and seen. The ER radiologist on staff said I was fine, but follow-up analysis showed major damage. Also, Dr. ordered an injection for pain, which was never given. I couldn't leave soon enough. Incident 3: After a TIA in 2019, I did a cardiology work-up at IMC-Murry that showed no problems. The cardiologist "cleared" me and sent good results to my internist (who is not affiliated with IMC). My internist called and said he was pleased that my cardiology tests were normal, but that didn't explain the TIA. He referred me to a pulmonologist, who ordered a sleep study. I was diagnosed with central sleep apnea and now use a bi-pap and oxygen at night. Ironically, untreated central sleep apnea often causes a patient to eventually die from...wait for it... heart failure. Why didn't cardiology refer me to pulmonology?? There was one other incident, but it occurred about five years ago when I was visiting a very ill friend in the I.C.U. Despite HIPAA laws, patient information was literally posted on a large wall screen. I hope they've corrected that oversight. I'm sure that IMC has some outstanding doctors and departments. However, I have yet to encounter that level of expertise and thoroughness. read more

After spending 4 weeks in ICU plus two more weeks in a regular ward, I can say without any hesitation the staff at IHC are the best of the best. Caring and professional they cared for my every need, more importantly they put up with, "That patient in room 601". My only complaint is with the food. Most of it was inedible, while some was excellent. The Breakfast Sandwich, Wasatch Omelette, Chef Salad (but only if like Ranch or Blue Cheese dressing), are good. But who is in it for the food? You can order out if you can't pick your way around the menu. I owe my life to the staff at IHC who made my 45 day stay as comfortable as possible. Thank you. read more

I recently had to file a complaint regarding a ER visit. I was contacted by the patient advocate who is a division of intermountain. You can already see where this is going. My appeal denied. The issue was, that I had received a misdiagnosis which lead to other issues. Time off for work that I needed and never took. When I received the notice of denial there was a remark about a assumed burden I am encountering from having to pay the bill now. How annoying as that was never the issue. I understand that when a major employer is making deals with state governments to locate a business that will provide hundreds of great jobs for the economy that deals are made. What's stupid is allowing over site to come from within the corporate structure. As if we are gullible enough to believe in a fair and just process. Potato in the tail pipe, right? The main issue is that we the people do not demand performance from our elected officials and they in turn sell us out. If you don't know your rights you have none. read more

Terrible experience. Had spinal fusion surgery there. One day in the hospital and wasn't able to receive my blood pressure medication even though they kept taking my blood pressure and saying it was high. Discharged the day after this major surgery with absolutely no follow up. Didn't receive one call to see if I was even still alive. Never could get ahold of anyone for a pain med refill after one week post op. i called the patient advocate who said there was nothing he could do because he wasn't a neurosurgeon. What a surly response. He suggested I go to the ER which would be a total abuse of our healthcare system. Just terrible care and follow-up. read more

Steer well clear of this place. The night my wife gave birth, they literally had one anesthesiologist available for the entire hospital. She needed an epidural, but when the anesthesiologist finally showed up after two hours, he didn't seem to know what he was doing. Her excruciating pain was only numbed on one side of her body. Eight hours and six additional injections later, he finally figured out how to do the anesthesia correctly. There was never an apology from anyone at Intermountain, nor acknowledgment that my wife should not have had to endure that agonizing pain for that long. A better hospital might have had, I don't know, at least two anesthesiologists available for such a large maternity ward?? Then, I sent a check for the full balance owed in February. I sent it to the right address and put the right account number on the check, but they won't apply it to my balance. Every time I call them, they say "oh, it actually went to another department," and they mention a different department every time. I have proof of payment from Chase Banks, so they say somebody will call me back to figure out where my check is. But weeks pass and nobody calls me back. I ve been got chronic health conditions that require me to get labs done every few months. After my Dr appointment upstairs I was told to go get my labs done. After waiting over an hour and watching many patients go in that arrived after me going in, I went back to the desk and asked what was taking so long. They said they forgot about me or they lost my paperwork , and I would be next. Really frustrating and I'm starting to wonder if I should go to a better equipped facility.
