I really adore Laurie. She helped us deliver our first born in October 2014 and then navigate…read morethrough several miscarriages. We are now pregnant again, baby due in March 2019 and plan to use her with this baby as well. I have NEVER felt as if our appointments were rushed and she answered every single question we had and was compassionate with our concerns.. What I respect about Laurie the most is that she will tell you how it is (her professional opinion) but will respect your wishes without guilt. I love being able to use a midwife while also having the peace of mind of delivering in the hospital. On top of really liking her, we REALLY love her staff. Always friendly and excited to see us when we arrive. We also use Liberty Health Share for our payment option and they were more than willing to work with them, when others would not. Highly recommend.

I am not a fan of Laurie for several reasons. She rushed through every prenatal appointment, which…read moreshould have been a red flag. During the birth of my son she wasn't educated on managing a posterior labor and was detrimental to my having a natural birth as she pushed pitocin and an epidural. She also broke my water and did a stretch and sweep right after I told her No. She told me it was inappropriate for me to bring my newborn to my six week postpartum checkup, and that I was a "naive first time mom." I would not recommend her to anyone, she was not supportive and very condescending towards first time moms. At one of my prenatal appointments she ranted about another first time mom for coming to the hospital in labor in the middle of the night a day how the woman "didn't know what real labor was." I was expecting better of her as a midwife, but all things considered I wouldn't go with her again.

Margie is an authentic midwife, who I loved working with. She is a woman who loves to walk with…read moreother women, and she is very good at sharing her skills, wisdom, and warmth. If you are lucky enough to have her as an option for care, you can trust that she will respect your choices, your autonomy, the sacredness of your family's birth experience; and support you with relevant, experience-based, good information along the way. My prenatal care culminated with a birth on Christmas Morning, snowing and up our steep off road hill. Margie joyfully supported us throughout the day and following weeks without issue, even though she has a big and beautiful family of her own to spend the holidays with. She has the heart of a servant and excels at her craft. We are so glad we had her and gladly recommend her services.

The midwives working there change from time to time, but I doubt their quality ever will. I had my son with them two years ago, and it was the most wonderful experience I could have asked for. The care was top-notch, and I felt like I was the most important person they had to care for every time I saw them. I was not just another pregnant woman to shuffle through their system. Their office is a lovely old house in downtown Flagstaff. They have a comfy waiting room and a shelf full of books for clients to borrow. The exam rooms are homy and comfortable. If you are even curious about homebirth and what it involves, call them! They will meet with you once for free to find out if midwifery care is right for you. I recommend them highly!

Whether you opt to hire Kyla as a midwife or doula, you will not regret it! She helped my husband and I so much in learning more about how our baby is growing, what the L&D process would look like, and providing tools and resources to help us in preparing and forming a birth plan fit for our family. We hired Kyla as our midwife and had a home-birth. Without writing out my whole birth story I will just say that both my husband and I felt beyond supported for the over 48 hours I was in early/active labor, pushing, and getting baby measured and the house tidied afterwards. We are one week postpartum now and love having someone to reach out to with questions as they come up has been so comforting. We love doing our postpartum check ups at home and value that Kyla can check on baby instead of dragging them out of the house so tiny. Do yourself a favor and consider midwifery care, hands down the best decision we made for our growing family!

I love that she prepped me for all the things that could happen to keep my anxiety down. Kyla helped us welcome our precious little girl into the world in a birthing tub. Our birth was peaceful and stress free just like we wanted. Our family is grateful to have had her as our midwife and would use her again.
