I really adore Laurie. She helped us deliver our first born in October 2014 and then navigate through several miscarriages. We are now pregnant again, baby due in March 2019 and plan to use her with this baby as well. I have NEVER felt as if our appointments were rushed and she answered every single question we had and was compassionate with our concerns.. What I respect about Laurie the most is that she will tell you how it is (her professional opinion) but will respect your wishes without guilt. I love being able to use a midwife while also having the peace of mind of delivering in the hospital. On top of really liking her, we REALLY love her staff. Always friendly and excited to see us when we arrive. We also use Liberty Health Share for our payment option and they were more than willing to work with them, when others would not. I am not a fan of Laurie for several reasons. She rushed through every prenatal appointment, which should have been a red flag. During the birth of my son she wasn't educated on managing a posterior labor and was detrimental to my having a natural birth as she pushed pitocin and an epidural. She also broke my water and did a stretch and sweep right after I told her No. She told me it was inappropriate for me to bring my newborn to my six week postpartum checkup, and that I was a "naive first time mom." I would not recommend her to anyone, she was not supportive and very condescending towards first time moms. At one of my prenatal appointments she ranted about another first time mom for coming to the hospital in labor in the middle of the night a day how the woman "didn't know what real labor was." I was expecting better of her as a midwife, but all things considered I wouldn't go with her again. read more

I am expecting my 6th baby and I am so grateful to have Laurie. She delivered my last two babies and has given me an exceptional and particularly special birthing experience each time. I am looking forward to another great experience when I deliver again this time around. We just love her so much! I prefer to deliver unmedicated, which means I really need some great coaching during labor and delivery, and Laurie "delivers" each time. With so few people who deliver natural, it is difficult to find providers or even family and friend that know how to coach you through labor and delivery. But, Laurie is so good at helping me stay calm and work with the pain. I so appreciate that she takes the time to be there and help, rather than just showing up when it is time to push (as has been my experience with other doctors I have had in the past). I was especially grateful last time around for her attention to my boys who attended the delivery. I had tried to prepare them the best I could, but was still a bit anxious about the possibility of it being traumatic for them if something were to go wrong or if they were affected by seeing me in so much pain. She helped make it such a positive experience for our whole family. I had warned the boys ahead of time that they would likely see me scream louder than they had ever heard me do before when I pushed the baby out, but her coaching helped me to relax through the pain. After the birth, the boys kept saying to me, "you didn't even scream, Mom!" Haha! I was writing in my journal about the whole experience and was reminded of all the things she took the time to show and explain to the boys. They were so fascinated with the whole process and had a really positive experience. Everyone thought I was crazy to take my boys to the delivery, but she was so supportive of the idea it made me not feel so crazy for considering it. I am so very grateful that they got to be there and have such a wonderful experience. Now, my other boys want to attend the delivery of this baby and I am excited for them to have that experience as well. It couldn't have been so special for the kids without her kind attentions to them. Laurie is also great AFTER being discharged from the hospital. Having had such difficult recoveries in the past, I am never quite sure how terrible I "should" really feel after delivering a baby, and that makes me reluctant to seek medical attention afterward. But, I'm so glad she took the time to consider my circumstances and to check up on me regularly so that she knew I ended up needing antibiotics, which made such a huge difference! I felt so much better after they started kicking in and that was the first time I've had the strength to care for the baby myself in the night. I am usually so sick that I can't wake myself enough to do that unassisted. And, it was such a blessing in helping me bond more quickly with my baby that time around--what a beautiful thing that is! Anyway, we just so love and appreciate Laurie so much. She is truly exceptional at what she does and we are so grateful to have found her when we moved to Cedar City. I cannot say enough good things. Laurie Hansen delivered all 3 of my babies, and each of them was a wonderful experience, two natural and one epidural. She was attentive, allowed me to labor in a way that was best for me each time, was competent, and efficient. Her staff is friendly, and definitely a place where I felt "honored" as a woman and my baby was always welcome, or when I needed to bring my other kids along this was never an issue. I have gone to Laurie for all 4 of my deliveries (and a few miscarriages) and have felt completely taken care of in every way possible. I feel that Laurie is good at teaching and explaining everything that goes along with pregnancy and childbirth and then leaves the decision up to me and my spouse, not pushing in either direction and then supports whatever that decision may be! I have had an epidural and natural deliveries and again felt 100% supported by Laurie and her staff. I would recommend Laurie to any women who is having a baby or for regular GYN care. read more

Laurie is truly awesome. She delivered all 4 of my kids and I love that she never pushed me to get an epidural or go natural. She truly just wants you to have the birth that you desire. But I was able to successfully have awesome natural births because she will go above and beyond to help me have the birth that I want. When my baby was posterior she was also great at discovering it and rotating it so that it went smoothly and I pushed way less time because of it. She spends a lot of time with her patients and she never pushes pitocin which I appreciate. I would highly highly recommend Laurie to deliver your baby. I am quite amazed at the other review on here because in no way does that describe Laurie. She had absolutely no problem with me bringing my baby to all of my postpartum appointments, and she was so totally awesome as a first time Mom because she does so much more education than a typical provider would. The whole description doesn't sound one bit like Laurie. She really is one of the most supportive providers I have ever worked with- wanting the paitent to have the experience she desires. read more
