Colruyt is said to be the cheapest place to shop in Belgium for food and that other stuff that you…read moresometimes need. Overall the deals are better than the other two big discount stores - Aldi and Lidl.
There was a Colruyt on this spot but was torn down and rebuilt. This is the new one and I was really looking forward to going here because I loved the other one. The main improvement that could be seen from the other side was the fact that they now had parking under the building. When I got inside and looked around I was not impressed. Well, I wasn't unimpressed because it pretty much looked just like the last one, the same warehouse style shelves with tons of cans and boxes and bottles and such on the shelves. The wine selection, which was pretty good before, was still pretty good. I particularly liked the couple aisles of beers - many different ones to choose from both Belgian and foreign.
Food wise, you can get just about everything here. The "cold" room is a favorite where fruits, vegetables and cheeses are kept, as well as different types of yougurt-y dessert and meats. There were also some free samples of the Danone yogurts. As a matter of fact, you can go to that store and have lunch if you are that desperate. There was free soup, free coffee, free olives, free cheeses, free wine, free orange slices and also chunks of fresh pineapple.
.A fun and filling place to shop if you're in the area.
