The best thing about this supermarket is it's location, because there are several other stores around, so you can park your car, do your shopping, and then head to another store. The prices are reasonable and the selection of products is decent. My favorite part of the store is the alcohol section in the back; well, the wine section really, where they have a pretty decent selection of the grape drinks.

Overall the deals are better than the other two big discount stores - Aldi and Lidl. There was a Colruyt on this spot but was torn down and rebuilt. This is the new one and I was really looking forward to going here because I loved the other one. The main improvement that could be seen from the other side was the fact that they now had parking under the building. When I got inside and looked around I was not impressed. Well, I wasn't unimpressed because it pretty much looked just like the last one, the same warehouse style shelves with tons of cans and boxes and bottles and such on the shelves. The wine selection, which was pretty good before, was still pretty good. I particularly liked the couple aisles of beers - many different ones to choose from both Belgian and foreign. Food wise, you can get just about everything here. The "cold" room is a favorite where fruits, vegetables and cheeses are kept, as well as different types of yougurt-y dessert and meats. There were also some free samples of the Danone yogurts. As a matter of fact, you can go to that store and have lunch if you are that desperate. There was free soup, free coffee, free olives, free cheeses, free wine, free orange slices and also chunks of fresh pineapple. .A fun and filling place to shop if you're in the area.

They also have clothes (coats, shirts, socks), bedding, toys, stamps, books and jewelry. I'd recommend at least one visit a month to this market. Some vendors are nicer than others. Some are more understanding of the language barrier than others. Just try your best to communicate and get adventurous trying new things.

I do shop too. My last trip, a few days ago, I ended up buying a couple kilos of tomatoes and also a kilo of mixed olives. There is just so much - every kind of vegetable and lots of fruits and the prices are often crazy cheap. Sure you can go to a supermarket but you'll pay more in most cases. For the best selection of fruits and vegetables, you have to get to the far end of the market, in Place Nervienne. Also there and along the way, you can find some food trucks for burgers, some for Asian food and my favorite (which is a big truck), one to buy whole cooked chickens along with cooked potatoes and paella and other delicious already-cooked stuff. Another favorite stop is the very large book stall. They're all in French but I collect Hemingway books in other languages, so nice to occasionally find one. If you don't see what you want, the guy working there will write it down and try to find it for you for next time. You can also buy different cheese on some stalls, all kinds of meats from a few different butchers and even some tacky junk for a euro or less. It is small but well worth the visit; you can purchase bread, apple juice, cheese, chocolates, beers and wine. All local, nothing was further than Mons. The owner speaks english and was very helpful! His store is open on Saturdays from 2pm-6pm and on SUNDAYS that's right, Sundays from 8am-11am. So he is convenient. M-F he does close at 1:30 and re-opens at 3pm. Overall this shop is perfect and exactly what our town needed.

Slabbinck's 'foie gras' has been described by some as the best in Belgium, though it is the quality of his poultry that have left a mark on Brussels foodies. His 'Coucou de Maline' are on the menu at 'Comme Chez Soi' and a number of other famous restaurant. Based in Uccle, down Chaussée de Waterloo, you can order your poultry in advance, get a roasted chicken on weekends, or pick from any of the wonderful dishes available in shop. I recommend you try the vacuum sealed dishes that can keep for those lazy cooking days. Last I went I tried the capon with tarragon flavored beurre blanc, delicious!
