My friend and I booked the "Bavarian Food And Market Tour" for the weekend we were visiting Munich…read morefor Oktoberfest. It was very easy to find the tour guide in the right spot in Marienplatz and we did start right on time with a large group of 15 people. The tour ran close to four hours. Several cultural spots along the way and a nice walk through and around the Viktualienmarkt. Several of the food items we got a chance to try were delicious and enjoyable. I particularly liked the fresh schmaltznudeln (a sweet bread filled with stewed plum - sort of like a jelly donut but not quite). The tour was A-OK and could use some improvement. The hour we spent at the pub with sausages was entirely too long. The fruit vendor was interesting but they're exotic imported fruits, not local to Bavaria. The tastes we got at the herb vendor were good, my favorite was the wild garlic. I've been on food tours in Copenhagen, Porto, Istanbul, Palma and Milan. My favorite was the Helsinki, which was all about the local stuff. This was an interesting tour, but I'm not sure that it met my expectations. [Review 12018 overall, 1801 of 2019.]
