This is one of the neatest Midwest galleries that I've visited, and it didn't hurt that on the day that I visited, they were offering free bloody Marys and hot chocolate. Of course, I partook of the hot chocolate (with a glug of Bailey's, because it was there). How nice to have a little drink while perusing all of the art everywhere. It makes the art pop that much more. Edgewood has artwork from more than 100 artists in a wide range of media: paintings, sculpture, glass, clay, wood, jewelry. I left with a coaster for my father that had a dragonfly on it (a special symbol to our family). There is artwork in every price range here, so you can leave with a little bit of Door County artwork no matter your budget.

The signage for this gallery is easy to spot right off of main Door County thoroughfare Highway 42…read moreat Peninsula Players Road.  There's also some big and catchy animal art sculptures and attractive grounds at the entrance.  I knew I'd probably drop in and putz around here one day, but upon actually visiting, I had no idea this was such a delightful place to walk their extensive and artsy grounds as well as enjoy their classy and elegant gallery.  We really enjoyed our stroll on their grounds on a very pleasant day and amongst numerous and priced outdoor art objects.  The two story gallery was very enjoyable browsing as well.  The staff was welcoming and friendly (and pet friendly too btw), and left us and numerous others to mill around leisurely.  They have 80 acres here, so there's plenty of space as well as parking.  As with most art, you don't know what you like til you see it.  Unfortunately, I knew I couldn't afford much of the stuff here, a lot of which runs into 5 figures, but we certainly enjoyed our time here.  I did refer my art-collecting son here though!  Their story (labelled Irene's story) is also a wonderful and heartwarming story of 4 generations of Wisconsin folk, and it's a delightful read.  I highly recommend visiting when one is up here in the cultural enclave that is Door County.

This is one of the shops that I found before we headed to Door County and decided I wanted to…read morevisit. It's a nice shop, but I didn't find a lot that interested me. I did buy a couple of baskets. They had some really cool art in the back, but they were prints so I skipped them. The originals have been made with leaves and other botanicals to create some really interesting work, but it didn't have the same impact for me as a simple print. The shop carries a lot of home decor sorts of things like baskets, vases, bowls, candles, and that sort of thing. Also they have a wide selection of jewelry. I almost forgot about wanting to stop here until I checked the Yelp collection I made, and we didn't pass the store when wandering along Main Street because it was separated from most of the other shops to some extent, being next door to a restaurant and one other shop but removed from the bulk of the shopping area. So if you want to stop by keep your eyes peeled.

I didn't realize there was one until I was about to head out and by that point I've been in there long enough I didn't wanna have the kiddos start freaking out. They have art of almost any medium here. There were some really beautiful earrings various precious stones; ruby, diamond, emerald. They had oil paintings, acrylics, and encaustic; woodworking watercolors. I really loved the hanging mosaics that I saw here. I'd love to have one of those to hang in one of the windows in my kitchen, but I'm just not sure what the right size would be. Luckily they have a website so I may take a look at them again sometime. The employee was very friendly and welcoming offered to let me try on the jewelry that I was interested in. If I return to Door County I will surely be back and I'll be following their Instagram, too. I'm not sure if there is dedicated parking for this place, but there's lots of street parking since this is a pretty popular tourist destination.

Upon entering Lautenbach's we were wowed with a wide variety of pies, baked goods, jams, wines, ciders, and other fun snacks. We sampled a few snacks before we made our way to the back where the wine and cider flights were happening. Hubby and I each had a cider flight. Staff were helpful and answered our questions. It was a beautiful, warm, sunny day so we plopped ourselves on the patio to enjoy live music and our drinks of course. There were family friendly games outside which my child enjoyed.

The instructors are great - all are accomplished artists in their own right and many teach at the college level - but to the person they have been friendly, helpful and oh-so-kind in their critiques. I guess it's Door County rubbing off - but the fellow students have been great, too. Friendly and open. By the first afternoon, the jitters go away and everyone starts talking and helping out - from offering gentle suggestions to sharing supplies. Hands down the best experience I have had in taking art classes- and I keep coming back for more!

This is an incredible space to catch an outdoor concert. For 9 weeks in the summer they host a free…read moresunset concert series. It's open to everyone, you can bring any food or drink you'd like, and dogs are welcome, too! There is some food and drink available for sale before the show, and most people bring lawn chairs to sit on. The grassy field was donated by the surrounding farm and it's on a slight slope so everyone has a good view of the stage. You can also see Lake Michigan and watch the sunset during the concert. Overall, we had a great experience and can't wait to be back.
