It was a snowy cold day and I was in need of a warm drink and a sweet bite to eat so I headed to…read moreCafe Deco. From the outside, the cafe looks like it would be quite spacious, but once inside the actual cafe section on the right side of the space is tight and small. The left side of the space is filled with antiques for sale. I loved the ambiance of the place as it was very cosy with the antique theme. The place is made up of mostly two person tables, that could be put together for four people if you have a larger group. There is also one very large table in the middle that different groups of people were sitting around. I arrived at 1:30pm, and the place was crowded. I took a seat at the one spot at the large table that was open between two sets of other groups that were there together. If you plan to come here with more than just yourself, then definitely call in advance to make a reservation. There were only two ladies serving everyone, so the service was on the slower side, but friendly. They both spoke a bit of English which was a bonus. I wouldn't recommend coming here for lunch. I read the review of someone who came here previously and would agree with them that for the price you pay the quality and quantity of the plates doesn't meet expectation. However, I would recommend coming here for one of their home made desserts, and a tea or coffee. Which is exactly what I did. For 8.50 CHF you can enjoy one of their desserts, all of which you could tell were freshly made recently. I chose the apple cobbler which reminded me of my grandma's speciality back home. It was delicious. I enjoyed this with a coffee which was also good. They also have an assortment of loose leaf teas that you can try if you aren't into coffee. They offer breakfast here, which might be interesting to try sometime. Be sure to bring cash, as they do not take credit card.

It is located on the other side of the Nyon train station across from the entrance to the local red train that goes up to Saint Cergue. It is temporary food stand/outside cafe. I finally got a chance to enjoy a late summer evening here after getting off the train. This place is always packed and can often be hard to find a seat. All the seating is outside and you go up to the trailer window to place your order and take it back to your seat. Then take your dishes back to the window when you are done. They serve a choice of coffee, tea, beer, wine or other alcohol free drinks. They also have a variety of light items to snack on (changes each day). Typically they offer salads, sandwiches, a meat/cheese plate, sorbet, yogurt, or home made sweets. I happened to take an espresso and couldn't resist a slice of chocolate tart. My espresso was fine, but the chocolate tart melted in my mouth and was perfection - lightly crispy on the outside and gooey soft on the inside. YUMMY! If I get a chance to stop by here again I will before it closes. Dependent on the weather it closed last year at the end of September - beginning of October. Fantastic little spot to enjoy a drink on a beautiful day as you are waiting for the train or ending a day.
