Dutch Homemade - Yogurt lychee apricot

This is a review just for their ice cream, which can be summed up into: sweet, too sweet…read more I've tried 4 of their ice cream flavors now, and 2 of them have been a complete bust. The ones I didn't like: - The hazelnut just tasted like sugar, lacking any distinct flavor. - The yogurt lychee apricot tasted like yogurt plus sugar. I could barely taste any hint of lychee or apricot. The ones I thought were okay: - The strawberry was more like a sherbet. - The red velvet did not taste like red velvet, but I didn't find it too sweet at least. The cone they use also tastes like it's riddled with sugar. I actually didn't plan on coming here a second time, except that as I left, I saw a customer with a meringue disc on top of their ice cream, and I really wanted to try that as well. Two tips from me: 1. Turns out the meringue discs are free! How come it's not offered to every customer then? How come there's no sign for it? In any case, I'm letting you guys know now! If you want to spiff up your ice cream for free, ask for that meringue disc. 2. You get a cone + 1 scoop of ice cream for €2. If you want a cone + 2 scoops, it's €4..... Just buy 2 cones with 1 scoop of ice cream each then. I mean, if you don't want to, that's fine. But if they're not discounting the second scoop, then I'm getting a second cone, lol. Service-wise, I had a mixed experience. When I came yesterday, the person scooping the ice cream just did not care. However much they scooped the first time was however much the customer received... As a result, I saw some people with the tiniest scoops (like half the size of my single scoop)! Today, the person scooping the ice cream was a lot more diligent and competent. If the first scoop wasn't a lot, they'd scoop another smaller scoop so that every customer got roughly the same amount of ice cream. I'm sure not everyone pays attention to things like this, but I try to take note of small stuff from time to time. In this case, it's about making sure every customer can leave feeling like they're being treated the same. It's what sets the "I have hands" employees apart from the "I have hands and a brain" employees. Overall, I wasn't impressed with the ice cream, so I probably won't come back here, again.

Giornale - Dessert platter

As a vegetarian I don't have a lot of options in the meat eating world, and I know that going to…read moreany restaurant. However, this place was the worst. I got the falafel which according to the waiter it was made last week and was warm up in the microwave. JOY! it was sweet and soggy, the salad was so old and mushy with really weird sweet dressing. It was a WASTE of money and not having good meal after a long day.

What a great place to meet family or friends for a really nice dining experience…read more Giornale's emphasis seems to be on food sharing, but they also offer main dishes that are you free to enjoy all by yourself. On my visit I met up with some colleagues for dinner and we decided to go for the sharing approach. There are a lot of nice menu options to choose from if you go this route, so get out there and explore! Definitely start with the antipasti board. It contains a nice selection of different salamis and prosciutto ,as well as several different types of cheeses - including one that is spicy and another that is "drunken" (infused with wine). It also includes some baby pickles and Mediterranean vegetables. Delicious! We also tried the beef tenderloin with mushrooms and a red wine sauce for dipping. Cooked perfectly, these little cuts of beef almost dissolve in your mouth. The lamb chops are also a very good choice and come with tzatziki and tomato. Finally, be sure to try the beef stew - it tasted amazing. We added a small salad and fries to nibble on while we enjoyed all these dishes. For dessert, I had the chocolate cake/mousse/ice cream combo. If you are a chocolate lover then this is your choice for dessert. You won't be disappointed. Service was good - our server was nice and had our food and wine out pretty quickly. My only recommendation to them is to improve on their cocktail selection. They promote a bar that offers wine, specialty beers and liqueurs - but when I asked about cocktails they only had Mojitos to offer me. Fortunately, I love Mojitos so it was a win - but for someone who is seeking something different they may be disappointed. Maybe this is something that will improve over time. Overall, a really nice experience. I love the relaxed atmosphere here and the food is very good. I highly recommend it!
