I spoke to Tim at Your Next Jump to review my current resume on a 15-minute call and was surprised…read moreat how much ground we were able to cover in that timeframe. Tim provided pointers on updating and customizing my resume in order to improve its chances of making it past gatekeepers as well as solid advice on how to make new business connections. He also provided some helpful resume templates. Your Next Jump offers flexible hours in the afternoon and evening to connect remotely about your resume. They also offer consultation on how to improve your own professional branding to help you advance in your career. I would recommend reaching out to Your Next Jump if you are looking to keep your resume up to date or to take the next step in your career.

I recently participated in a resume consult with Tim. I thought 15 minutes was not enough time. I…read morewas mistaken. Tim covered more ground in those 15 minutes than I probably do in a 30+ minute run. This was, of course, possible because he requested my resume when I scheduled the appointment. Not only did he review my resume prior to the session, he asked questions about my professional history, learned about my goals, and provided feedback. He provided insight, and persuaded me, to stop trying to scrunch my experience into just one page. He provided many visual examples (definitely appreciated them) and helped me find some key phrasing for describing my strengths. He also explained how I can help the hiring manager see how my current goal to pivot my career is a logical one. In the end, I was provided with a resume template. Honestly? I felt invigorated by the whole process, and ready to take on the world. It allowed me to revamp my resume so that I could finally start applying for new jobs. If you need help with your resume, or struggling to highlight how you excelled at your last role, I would definitely contact Next Jump to aid you.

Nice people but don't seem to have the proper programs and funding to help Vets in Western PA…read more That's the name of the organization but they only really help Vets in Allegheny county. I guess they're the only folks that are Vets. Seems like no veterans organization helps Vets. Just look good for photo ops and to the public eye!

Veterans are alternately put onto pedestals and demonized. What is all too often forgotten is that they also end up unemployed, living on the streets, and plagued by physical and mental maladies. The VLPWPA, which celebrates its 30th anniversary next year, aims to rectify that in Western PA by finding veterans gainful work, decent housing, and by helping them readjust to civilian life in any other way they possibly can. One can send donations directly to the organization itself... http://partners.guidestar.org/controller/searchResults.gs?action_donateReport=1&partner=networkforgood&ein=25-1434643 Or...you can donate indirectly in a really fun and scrumptious way. Go to a King's Family Restaurant and order the Double Fudgin' Trouble Sundae for dessert. A portion of the proceeds from each one of these deridiculicious treats goes to the VLPWPA. While it may not be good for you (deep-fried brownies are involved), it will do another person's life a bit of good.
