Perhaps they are unaware of the larger casting requirements that bigger casting agents require, as BS has asked me specifically for examples where multiples files were requested. On the other hand, a simple peak at Actors Access or Casting Networks audition requests, shows a very easy, clear multiple file and renaming ability - and ordering the files/takes, which is very important also. Larger Casting directors likely know these limitations of Backstage, and use the other 2 systems (as the number of quality, higher paying and Union gigs that they have, seems apparrent). I dont think I have ever seen a 5-15k commerical listed on Backstage, or a co-star on network TV. And they charge a very high cost imo, for the slow support, flexibilty and assistance in helping professional actors meet casting and submission requirements.

I was even more skeptical because I currently only hold 1 single acting roll. I was given a speaking role on an episode of Pause: With Sam Jay on HBO, and I was able to land that roll for free, without needing any sort of subscription. But curiosity got the best of me, and I signed up anyway. IMMEDIATELY I was getting emails with roles I could apply for. You're given a profile page that allows you to update all your interests, upload all your reels, all your headshots etc.. I was getting multiple emails a day, FULL of roles to apply for. Honestly the setup was so in depth, I decided I wasn't ready for this - as I didn't have any professional pictures or head shots. On top of that, I unfortunately lost my job about a week after I signed up, and that sign on fee believe it or not, really would have come in handy. I emailed customer service and explained the situation, and without question they refunded me. It was such a relief, and it was so helpful. I'm honestly going to go back in a month or so and sign up again. So the reason for the 4 stars - there is SOMEWHAT some baiting in their delivery. A lot of big name drops like Stranger Things and Scream 7. Though I'm sure those exists and come up, do not expect a mailbox full of Netflix, HBO, and Disney tryouts. It seems like at Nine9 you really will get out of it what you put into it. Stack that reel, post pictures in different outfits, different situations, different genres. The casting experience was not as pleasant as I thought it would be. The studio was not baby friendly. They had metal benches as seats for the casters. The benches were definitely not baby proof! They had sharp corners. We're at a studio for a BABY casting right? So unfortunately, one baby was walking around and fell right on one of the corners. Poor baby bled. They asked mothers not to allow their babies to walk around, is that even possible? Obviously these people do not have kids. Part 2. We were told we made it as finalists and to hold a certain date open. 2 days before that date, I decided to call since I was not told what time to arrive for casting. Unfortunately, we were told that we have been released. No email or phone call were made to inform us. It would only be fair for us to be informed via the many available forms of communications. They asked their casters to hold a certain date for the final casting, but when we are not "hired" they simply waited for us to call to follow up. Their work might be keeping them busy from making a simple phone call or email, but our lives are busy too; especially working mothers. Even if we are the ones who have to call, at least employ people who are friendly and professional. I have definitely experience once of the sourest customer service from Paul. Blessing in disguise.
