Models and Talent beware. 1STAR REVIEW SCAM ALERT WARNING ALERT. If a modeling agency asks you for any type of money it is a SCAM. This was a obvious scam.Over a month of emails from Aviva Skall the so called Vice President of the agency to get a welcome letter that harassed and begged me to spend money on a $2500 for there less than mediocre none published work photographer, the W9, 1099, forms and Talent Application, there is a one-time set up and registration fee of $1650 in order to set up your modeling portfolio on our online portfolio system and submission database; and an bi annual Service Charge Rate of $575 in order to keep the system maintained, updated and to be active for unlimited submissions billed twice a year. This rate is actually much less than most of our competitor agencies. We do not make it mandatory due to the cost for use, but since almost all modeling jobs and a fair amount of acting jobs are booked in this manner it is extremely limiting to not utilize as it will prevent us from including you in many job submissions. read more

This agency is 100% a scam. The followers on the Instagram account, and several of the photographers/ employees accounts have been BOTTED and they have paid money for them. Just to look relevant. They force you to pay 1500$ for a photoshoot with a photographer that isn't even good or skilled with BOTTED followers, and then don't get you any work at all, once you're actually signed. It's all a money grab for them and they're NOT PROFESSIONAL photographers. And don't be surprised once they double book your expensive photoshoot with another model and then act like it's your fault! In New York charging for anything other than commissions on bookings is prohibited in the state of New York by New York General Business Law Section 396-n. Modeling agencies as well as model/talent "managers" are also required to have a license issued by the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs. (N.Y. GBL Section 172). New york, California and Florida model/talent/ agencies and managers are also required to conspicuously post a notice concerning the agency's bond, the applicant's right to bring an action against the company, the required contents of a contract and any fees involved. New York, Florida and California model/talent agencies and managers are also prohibited from requiring applicants to subscribe to any publication or incidental service (including using specific photographers) or to contribute to the cost of the agency's advertising. MMG is a great agency!! I have had the pleasure of dealing directly with the VP, Aviva Skall, and have had great communication with many of their talent managers. They were able to help guide me in my career and use their relationships to facilitate industry connections which helped launch my career - leading me to land a major campaign for a well known makeup company filming alongside Gigi Hadid! As well as many other well known brands. They have helped me to understand how the job payments break down, even in more complicated scenarios like jobs that paid SAG-AFTRA scale/residuals and what I need to be mindful of re: taxes, etc. They have provided hands on guidance when I have needed help with image, digitals, self tapes, etc. When I moved to NY, the team was really hands on with helping me find an apartment in a safe neighborhood and was even able to match me with an MMG model as a roommate. I had read the reviews and was skeptical on meeting Jordon in Boston regarding having my son sign with MMGNYC. It's rare, but I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised. She was so nice and understood not only my frustrations with companies not accepting children at 5 years old but also addressed why that was the case with most companies. She was kind, explained the process well and took the time to get to know us as well as possible within the 15 min time frame. UPDATE: Though the manager we met with was very nice we did not go with one of "their" photographers. My photographer has done shots for LA agents as well as others in Boston. I was told they weren't good enough when it was the same shots that a friend of mine's son had done by "their" photographer for over $1,000. There is also a fee to be "part of their website". Let's starts with how agencies work. They only make small percentages off their main models they promote meaning they need a better way of income. This means that they have their main source of agents who take girls they really want! And small fees for actual work and then girls they have no interest in but put you through non exclusive contracts and fees which is a lot of money you have to pay just to never get work! I no longer work through MMG due to the costs this agency put me through. YES you should understand there's a fee. But it should be reasonable and laid out upfront of everything it's going to cost. MMG gets you into a contact, requests more than 1k for their photographers (they don't like you using your own and threaten to reject the photos if you decide to use your own) and than tells you after that advertising will cost more instead of saying it from the beginning. For my main photoshoot that I had to pay for over the months of COVID (meaning I hired their photographer and makeup artist) I had gotten sick and couldn't travel. Which I then explained this to my agent and their response was that they will be charging me $600 rescheduling fee. They also sent out an email a week prior stating all COVID shoot cancellations will be ignored due to the safety of everyone. Since that moment I was treated as an unprofessional model that they were unsure of working with which directed me to work with another agency. My daughter has been modeling since she was 4. She has been in many department stores, on toy boxes, magazines and even on a billboard in times Square. She was signed to a contract with another agency but decided she wanted to try something new as she turned 18. It was time for her to venture out on her own and make her own decisions regarding her career. She came across MMG and we both went into the agency, sat and talked with the manager. The manager showed us all these castings that would be available to my daughter and we thought it was great. However, I knew something was wrong when she gave me a list of photographers Anyway, against my better judgment I went with it bcuz that is what my daughter wanted. The price was over $1,000 and I did take issue with it, nevertheless I still went along. The final pics were horrible and I told the manager how unhappy I was but she stated that the look portrayed in the pics is what the makeup clients were looking for. To make a long story short, my daughter is now going on 20 and we still have had not one booking or castings from them. Very disappointing. Not only did we pay over $1,000 for horrible pics that my daughter never got even one call from but we also had to pay some sort of picture touch up fee and if I'm not mistaken we paid for have my daughters pics uploaded to the site. At least with the other manager we got bookings. Please be careful. read more

I signed to MMG in January and booked my first shoot in April. My schedule is busy as I'm a full time student and work a part time job, but thankfully they work with your schedule. I had no prior modeling experience and I didn't have a portfolio, so my talent manager gave me a couple of sample portfolios of models who are successful with the company to give an idea of what looks to add to my personal portfolio. You have the option of using your own photographer, or theirs (for a fee) to create your portfolio. Also once completed, to be featured on their website there is another fee. With the combined fees, it can come out to be pretty pricey. I have to say that it is no doubt an investment, but in my eyes any investment in yourself is oworth taking. The one shoot I booked covered all the fees and more and whatever shoot I book from here on will just be icing on the cake. Overall, I'd say I've had a positive experience with MMG, and thankful that I took the chance with signing with them. read more
