Ultimately, we ended up going with Parks Farmers Insurance-- and are we ever glad we did! Not only was the agency by FAR the most affordable for our home and auto policies-- saving us HUNDREDS of dollars every year-- the staff is incredible. June sat down with me for well over an hour when we first decided to switch and went over every line and detail of both of the policies, making sure she understood exactly what we needed and wanted in our policies (and what we didn't)! She also went out of her way to double check everything in the policies and insure we received as many discounts as possible. Whenever I've had any issues or questions, I've been able to get ahold of the office quickly and they've been incredibly responsive and helpful. Aside from the fantastic prices and excellent customer service, what I love most about this agency in particular is their dedication to Tucson and their clients. They host regular client block parties (hello free tacos!) and donate regularly to charities- most recently, we spotted them sponsoring a booth at the Reid Park Zoo during Halloween! I spoke with Roxanne over the phone and by the end of the day she had sent a letter by FAX to the mortgage company, informing them that there is now an active policy on the home. What else can I say - no attempt to up sell and they knew this was a short term policy. But they treated it as importantly as any other, which is customer service at its best. The reception person answered in a brusque manner and asked me a question I didn't "get"-- something to do with vacancies on said properties. I told her I didn't understand her question; rather than rephrase, she asked the same question. I offered, wondering if it would help, "I'm seeking insurance for my vacation rentals. I'm the home owner." I received a why didn't you say so in the first place kind of answer (what does that have to do with vacancies..?) Then, totally unnecessarily , she followed up by telling me I should have communicated more clearly. I hung up. One of those days where you're fatigued and won't tolerate B.S. I don't judge a business based on one encounter with a front person, so I tried email. The remarkable part: None other than THE OWNER, NED, BOTH CALLED AND EMAILED TO TAKE ME TO TASK. I learned the receptionist lied, telling him I'd called her "stupid" before hanging up. I was startled by his reaction-- to immediately believe her, then to be so undiscerning as to immediately call and write me to say he is not interested in working with me. So: why should anyone else care? Because, this is what i call a "character revealing moment." This is how Ned runs his business. This is how Ned addresses conflict. This is how Ned, if anything goes awry, will deal with you. I asked for rental coverage to be added, went over all my options, confirmed pricing and thought I had rental coverage... not even 2 months later I am in a horrible car accident (not at fault) my vehicle was totaled, I was seriously injured and this office FAILED to actually add this coverage. Because of this offices mistake I was without a vehicle. This is UNACCEPTABLE. They don't update your address when you ask, they don't update your policies, I have no idea what they actually do? I have never been so disappointed. My mom worked for SF for 20 years, I've been very loyal to this company but this office ruined it. I've talked to Sabrina herself a few times and she claims she was "unaware" that any of this happened....I've talked to her twice? How are you "unaware"? What IS this office aware of? Because it doesn't seem like much. It seems as if it's their first day every time I talk to somebody in this office. Save yourself the headache and hassle. As a 'mom and pap" type landlords we own a few properties in Phoenix. While preparing our taxes we noticed that we are missing one of the insurance bills. So we called Dan's office. To our great surprise we were informed that our insurance policy got cancelled a year ago, due to a claim on a tenants part! But no one bothered to inform us!!! Not even a courtesy call, reminding us nothing!!!! Complete disregard for long term loyal clients. He said that " insurance company has sent us a letter" (not true). Insurance cancellation should be a registered letter - which we would have received! He expressed a complete disregard that our property was left uninsured for a year!!! Not even an apology, nothing or any desire to remediate the situation. Naturally we are taking all our business elsewhere and telling everybody to stay away from that dump of an agency!! Also filing a complaint with AZ Insurance DIFI. Avoid Dan Kalm Insurance - they treat long term clients as garbage and discriminate against them. P.S. I jus wanted to add some facts after I ve had a conversation with this person - agent. He demanded that I should remove this review in a rude way - I said I would only do it if the situation is remodified and he would apologize to me - at this point he went completely nuts screaming at me, telling that I am blackmailing him etc... This is a scary individual - beware! P.S My review stands. The Agent is rude with major attitude issues. Said he was doing me a favor by contacting the insurance company to renew the coverage. Effectively, doing his job for which he collected premiums/commissions from us for 11 years, without paying any attention to our Canadian address before. Hence - its just a lame excuse not providing basic polite customer service. In 25 years - this is the rudest agent I ve been dealing with. I have never had such a negative experience. Never even an apology, just the righteous attitude. Yelled at a me for posting this review. Told me to get out of his business to get insurance some place else. If you don't want to be treated like garbage and being screamed at for your own money - AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Just for reference: What he attempted to refer to without a knowledge that many years ago I went to a law school: Commercial electronic messages (CEM) sent to recipients in Canada from another country must comply with CASL. Senders of CEMs need to: (1) obtain consent, (2) provide identification information, and (3) provide an unsubscribe mechanism. This is what the CASL is about - we communicated always via mail and email hence implied consent. And just a lame excuse on a part of an incompetent, lazy, misleading agent. Plus given his recently changed reply - he is very good in twisting the facts. He is not to be trusted! P.P.S, At this point we decided to seek a legal advice and will contact State Farm directly to recommend them to have a better customer service focused training to their agents. Its obviously a complete failure at this stage. This person should not be in a customer focused business. End of story.
