If finalized in September, it will have taken nearly five months. We have excellent credit and a strong application, so we were surprised by how lengthy and drawn-out the process has been. Our biggest frustration has been the lack of communication. There have been extended periods with little to no updates, leaving us to repeatedly reach out for information, only to sometimes receive no response for weeks at a time. Our representative, M.G., was pleasant, but the communication throughout the process could have been significantly better. We understand that things beyond our control can happen, but in customer service, a little communication goes a long way. Even a brief update would have made a substantial difference. If you're considering a HELOC through Navy Federal, be prepared for the possibility that the process may take several months, even with perfect credit and a super clean application.

I applied twice: I was denied due to lack of document, which didn't make sense because I submitted all the document they requested. I had to apply again, but the loan officer was slow to process my paperwork and not responsive to any form of communication (email, phone call, and text). I finally ended up switching to another bank and it only took 2 weeks to complete everything. You would think Navy Federal will have better service integrity, but it didn't. It costed me application fees (2 times) and non refundable. It made me think they are scamming people with the application fee and denied the loan. Both loan officers were terrible with communication. As mentioned earlier, not responsive to email, phone call, or text. It's like they lacked professional responsibility. Do Not use Navy Federal for mortgage. Hope their other services are better since it can only go up from what I experienced.

Last week I get and email promoting a credit card offer, I replied to the offer got a call next day asking me to unfrezz my credit report, I did for 2 days, no call back and their was an option for texts ( no reply on texts ) I called, spoke with a supervisor who told me he will get back to me by the end of the day, no call. Recently we got a home improvement loan and paid it off early. At that time we found there were various unnecessary charges every month such as loan insurance. We have perfect credit, so this was a ridiculous charge, and a terrible interest rate. Monday I will change banks, but not before I warn as many people as possible.
