What a great and fun interactive tour. You were able to feed and touch the alligators. My daughter volunteered to tape up the alligators mouth. FUN, FUN FUN!!! Had a great tour guy named Royce. His jovial personality made the tour both exciting and fun filled. He was extremely knowledgeable about the alligators temperament, likes and dislikes. He engaged everyone from the start to the end. This was definitely a great attraction during our trip to Louisiana. This is kind of expensive and a bit on the boring side. I mean, our tour guide was fairly entertaining but the tour consisted of him talking for a long long time, everyone taking turns to pet a baby gator for 2 seconds, walking through the area where the gators are kept, and then the guide talking for a long time again. Most of the visitors brought their kids (we don't have kids) so I felt a bit awkward. Also, it costs about $20/pp and there are much better things I can do for that amount of money. We got the basic tour and the climax of the tour was when a baby mouse was tossed into the gator-filled waters to be eaten alive. Wow, talk about graphic! read more

I was impressed with the quality of the group guide--which is perhaps it's more of a statement about my urban prejudice than not. :( In any case, Royce (sp?) was a fantastic presenter/speaker. I arrived feeling a little queasy possibly supporting something purely exploitative. Wanted my girls to get an experience of a lifetime and this place was it! Our tour guide, Royce, was phenomenal... informative and quippy. The information obtained was outstanding, but the hands on was wow. You get to feed the gators a sweet treat. "Pet" them under supervision... and if you're a lucky kid you get to tape the caught alligators mouth shut (we were the lucky one)! The "catch and play" was out of the world fun. We took the family to Insta-Gator Ranch over the weekend for the egg hatching experience. Scheduling was easy online. Stephanie was very responsive and accommodating when it was necessary to reschedule. Being flexible on our part to when the eggs were hatching was helpful. It was very clear that this facility takes great care of the alligators. The overview and instructions when we got there were great. I appreciated John explaining everything that was going to happen and in a way our three kids understood. My 5, 8 and 9 year old loved the experience having the alligators hatch in their hands. Alex was very patient with the kids and answered all their questions all while kindly reminding them to handle the baby alligators gently. The kids spent a good amount of time interacting with the alligators, watching them swim and even got to name their baby gator. It was an amazing experience !!! I can't recommend enough. read more

Ok so first of all. This was our favorite activity of our entire trip. It was so much fun, & also educational. The guides were great, we had Joe and Royce (SP?), they both seemed like they honestly love their job so much. The tour was filled with information about the history of Louisiana gators, their company, and their work to conserve gators.The tour was about 2 hrs but felt like 30 minutes. Joe and Royce had everyone laughing the entire time but we also left the tour filled with cool new information. The rest of the team was also very helpful (scheduling, etc). So much fun! Driving thru on our cross country trip we were looking for something unique and Louisiana-y to do. We found about Insta-Gator Ranch from the Roadside America website. We're so happy we found it! We all had a great time. Our 12 year old loves all things science and Alligators and felt he learned a lot more than he anticipated. The Catch Pool was well worth the extra $5 for him. It was a big highlight of the trip for him to be able to catch the small gators. I took my kids and had a great time. We happened to stay the night in Covington on our road trip, and the following morning I started looking for things to do. My kids love reptiles and having the chance to pick up a gator made there day. We got in on the early tour right after the small hurricane, so there were only 5 of us on this tour. They guide, owner, gave a lot of information about gators and conservation efforts in Louisiana. We paid the small amount extra to get our picture with one and another small amount to pick them up out the little area set up for it. My kids and I loved it. First time visit for my family. We got a fantastic deal on groupon for tickets. We came for the Sunday tour and it was a smaller group of people. Joe was our educator for our tour and is he a wealth of knowledge and full of silly joke to keep our group laughing. Joe touched a lot on the conservation side of the ranch and how the ranch is benefiting the alligator population. We got to pet a baby gator and then a little older one. We fed them marshmallows which was super fun. Don't throw them all into the first pool of gators there are larger ones as you exit I ran out of marshmallows too soon lol. Royce was a funny and informative guide! Tour lasted about an hour and a half. Toured the gator barn and fed them marshmallows. My only drawback is I found the price to be a little higher than others (especially when you factor in gator catching pool which I would highly recommend) you're looking at $25. Having a baby gator hatch in your hand sounded cool but $50 seemed to steep a price. Guess it's a matter of getting what you pay for. Overall great experience. read more

This place is really cool. When you first get there you walk in the front door see the skins or belts and wallets you can buy. They even have gator meat you can buy. They give some speeches that are really informative. Then you get to feed gators some marshmallows. Pet some gators and take a picture with one. Really cool stuff. This is a great experience, especially if you've got children. We loved it! You will learn a lot in the presentation the guide gives. Then you'll be able to go feed the larger gators and hold the smaller ones. If it's the right time of year you can actually hold the egg while they hatch.
