Just three days prior to that, we spent a couple hundred dollars at the SoHa Keiki store at the same Marketplace. In short, a female red-headed employee displayed some micro-aggressions towards me when she mentioned, "We also don't offer Kama'āina discount," when I didn't even ask for it, nor do I ever - even though I'M HAWAIIAN along with most of my maternal and paternal ohana, our ancestral roots or Native to Hawai'i. This really young red-head sat behind the counter the entire time as patrons like us came and went. She lacks basic awareness of our Native Hawaiian culture and requires DEI training. We will not be returning to this particular location. The owners are both very friendly, hard working and they have packed this space with good stuff. The gallery has art in all sorts of mediums and the pieces range in size from packable ornaments to huge pieces of furniture. They have original works of art as well as budget friendly prints. I was proud to pick up several vintage artwork cards, a detailed hand crafted ornament and a fun travel poster print.

If you have shopping to do definitely go to Parker Square. That is where Bentleys Home Collection is located. I love everything in the store and ended up buying a couple trivets. I bought one big one with a pineapple and a small one with a plumeria. Later I ended up giving the small plumeria one to my sister. I really needed another big trivet the size of the pineapple one, so I called the store a few months later and they shipped me another one. Pass on the kitschy ABC Stores and tourist traps down by the ocean and head up to Waimea one day. Take a side trip to the Waipio Lookout and grab lunch in Waimea too.

If you're into hand carved, one-of-a-kind pieces from the far east, check it out. In the back (the warehouse), they sell used furniture from local resorts that have remodeled their units. This is what we were interested in, but sorta worried that the items would be cheaply made. We've seen particle board dressers with holes in the top for bolting down lamps. This was not the case. The pieces we looked at were obviously high quality with a few marks from expected wear. There were lots of different tables, night stands, chairs, hotel art, mirrors, televisions, lamps and bedding. The kind of stuff you would find in your room at a resort. We bought a huge credenza with doors and drawers that fit perfectly and operate smoothly. Even noticed that the back was solid plywood. We've been through all of the furniture stores on the island and did not find a anything that compares to the quality. And the price was so low. We also bought an end table from the same resort. Also, great quality. Drawers work smoothly. I notice drawers because I've seen pricey items elsewhere with no drawer guides. Both items came with glass tops. Nice. Da Warehouse doesn't have a shipping department. They might want to add that in the near future. But, they know a guy. Joel took our call and we worked out a deal for him to to the delivery right then. Quick and very friendly.

They used to have a dedicated line for returns but looks like they couldn't spare one of three cashiers they have. Maybe add a fourth so people don't have to wait in line for 11 minutes? Today was a 1/5 stars. Poor management/scheduling of cashiers. Too long of a wait in line.
