The instructor or the host was creepy, aggressive and unprofessional. He tried to show off all the time and take advantage of the folks who are new to dancing which made us uncomfortable. We haven't come across any instructor with this type of qualities. Regarding the dance floor it was tiny and had several patches. We love dancing and support this type of events but at the same time we have to speak up if we observe something weird.

They make us change partners after dancing for just a couple measures. I do like that you know what to expect in the course when you sign up, and the pricing is very reasonable. The instructors and clientele also are super friendly at the dance parties. They really do a good job making sure everyone has the chance to get onto the dance floor. One problem I had with private lessons is that we had to share the ballroom with other lessons or couples practicing, so we also had to share the music. Every other song or so is something we're not even dancing. I think it would be easier to improve hearing a foxtrot as we dance a foxtrot. For the cost of a private lesson, I think we should be able to hear music that corresponds to what we're actually doing.

Caveat: I had danced prior (at another studio, YEARS ago downtown) - this was my date's intro to dancing. The lessons are great - you're not overwhelmed, they work on establishing the basics with you so you have a solid foundation before you start on the deeper aspects. The dances - from "social foundations" to their parties - are a great mix, old and young, all levels out on the dance floor. They are ALL friendly and supportive, making sure you are learning AND having fun doing so! No matter how bad a day at work I have (mental and spiritual drain is real) - when I step in to the studio, they put on some music, and you can lose yourself focusing on dancing. If you want to learn? Seeking a good outing that is some nice exercise and working on movement? It's absolutely worth it.

Basically, Emily is the most credentialed and well-rounded dance instructor in the area, and whatever your dance goals may be, she can at least get you started in the right direction.
