(It was also our anniversary) he said absolutley and picked us up from our houseboat the next morning at 6. I knew it was going to be a good day when I heard some good Cajun Zydeco coming from his boat. But not loud enough to disturb anyone. He has a very nice boat that fit 4 of us fine. We were talking the whole way out and he was such an interesting guy to chat with. He Told us about some lingo, some stories, the industry down there and then Boom! We were at the spot. We caught some really good Red Snapper compared to the first couple day with other charters. Before we knew it, we had a limit of fish and promptly moved to fish more inshore for Red Drum. In between catching the fish and the move, he took a minute to mop the blood from the boat, his boat is very well kept and clean and you can tell he strives to maintain a good image. Next, We stop next to some Roseau Cane and begin throwing some bait and it is just non stop fish. Red fish, Sheepshead, Black Drum, Flounder (small) Even got some big bull reds that were too big and had to go back. Lots of smaller but legal ones we threw back too. Just insane amounts of fish in one spot. After our red fish limit we were pretty smoked and went back to his nice shaded dock. He cleaned all of our fish quickly and efficiently and took us back to our houseboat with over 90 lbs of fileted fish. Herman, we can't thank you enough for the incredible time on the water. Exceeded all our expectations and now I see why it is called the fishing capital of the world. We will be in touch about another trip for sure.

captain richie is amazing! super smart, respectful guy that knows a LOT about the mississippi river…read moredelta, its history, the animals that live there, and takes the time to learn and volunteer with the local indigenous tribe, grand bayou village. his actual building is clean, the restrooms are clean, he has filtered water for your water bottles, stickers for purchase(?), life jackets of course, and has been operating boats for over 10 years. if you want to learn the landscape in a really cool way, book a ride with him!
