04/11/2026 - First time to Venice and my only regreat is that it took me 37 years to discover it…read more We blindly booked Josh for inshore and off shore fishing. Prior to the trip, Josh was honest about conditions and the bite. It wasnt the best news but I apprecited his honestly. Day 1, inshore - Josh picked us up from our floating house and had us on fish as the sun rose. As a Captain, Josh managed the perfect balance between being helpful, while still giving you some independance to catch your own fish; which I apprecited. I have had guides in the past that hook a fish and pass you the rod, not Josh (although I am sure he would do whatever you ask if that is your style). We did very well on reds, flouder and speckeled trout. Day 2 , offshore- Captain Zack picked us up from the Cypress Marina. His first mate gave us some very much apprecited suggestions on where to sit in the boat while traveling offshore. Zack and the first mate hustled to catch bait. Watching them work the cast nets was an experience of its own. I will admit the boat ride was "intense" due to it being pretty rough water but I never felt unsafe. The Captain and boat were both very capable. On location, we hooked a few shark but no Tuna. There were several other boats in the area and I never saw anyone land any fish, just cutting sharks off. Even though fishing was slow, the crew never stopped hustling. We eventually left the Tuna spot and looked for Swordfish. We hooked three swordfish and landed one. I will say, the swordfish really made up for the lack of tuna! All and all, you get what you pay for. This trip isnt cheap and it is not for the weak but if you want to catch fish and get back alive, I would go with Intensity Outiffters. Already looking at the calender to go back in October and hit that Blue Waaader Oh and most importantly - ZACK- KILLER TUNES BRO

did not catch but one small tuna in 2 full days of fishing. do not recommend this charter. the 2…read moreguides that were twin brothers on 2 separate days could not get us on any tuna. Could see tuna on the electronics but they could not figure out how to catch them. there are other charters that caught some that weekend. If the guides can't catch any fish I don't think people should have to pay a full price for the day.

I've always wanted to catch a yellowfin tuna so I decided to book a tuna trip in Venice Louisiana…read morebecause it's known as "tuna town" (the tuna capital of the WORLD) After researching several charter's websites for a couple of weeks I chose champion charters. When we got a week from the trip the weather started get a little cocky so I called the charter everyday to make sure the weather would cooperate and our drip was still on because keep in mind, we were all driving from Houston, Texas some as far as Austin (Never once when we spoke was I told that the tuna we wanted to target on our trip weren't and haven't been biting for the whole week (had I known this ahead of time, I would have just rescheduled). We found out after driving 12 hours. we didn't know what to do, (We asked Chandler, the captain, if he was going to be able to put us on the tuna-(website brags about their experience and skill and says they TARGET YELLOW FIN EVERY DAY OF THE YEAR , after all, these are the reasons why I chose them) He replied with "it ain't looking good BUT he said WE COULD TRY!!! He also mentioned that the black fin tuna were biting so we assumed we would target that fish as well (after all, it was a TUNA). We went and we flew right passed all the boats stopping and casting for live bait (for tuna fishing OF COURSE). 4 hours and oil rigs later, we finally limited out on snapper . There wasn't even a fishing pole for every person on the boat to fish with at the same time and then one broke (that we got blamed For). 6 people three rods. We ended up with 2 snapper and like 5 mangrove. We would have been happy trying to catch tuna all day and Going home empty handed or limiting out in snapper after tuna fishing, at Least we would have got what we paid For -TUNA FISHING! I asked if they had squid bait for the snapper and they informed Me they did have some but it was to be saved for our sword-fishing (if we wanted to we could Fish for that after snapper) of course I said hell yes!!! When three o'clock hit. He said we were done fishing and headed back to dock. No swords either. We were the last boat to leave dock and 1st boat back to the dock. I thought we paid for a 12 hour trip not an 8 hour trip and I thought I paid for a tuna trip not snapper trip! I don't have to spend 2400 plus expenses and gas and 10-12 hours drinving to catch snapper in Texas! That's ridiculous!!!!! Also, Something I witnessed several times really made me lose any respect I had left for these guys. On four occasions I saw the captain throw or Spray overboard water bottles, beer cans and trash (bait box) in the ocean. I was appalled. We don't do that in Texas and I couldn't believe he did it. It Seemed Unethical to me in his line of work to be doing something like that. When we got back to the dock shit hit the fan because these guys are wanting a tip. Hahahahahahha. Hell no. When we explained to them our concerns and disappointment that they didn't even TRY to fish for tuna that they promised us to fish for, instead they got defensive and rude and they told us we should be happy we had fish in boat at all. We explained To them we could drive 2 hours from where we live to Galveston and catch snapper for 75.00 per person but they didn't want to hear that. They replied with "you can't please "SOME" people. While we were loading our fish another couple had walked up just getting off their charter boat. They limited out on snapper and guess what? They caught a 100 pound yellowfin tuna! BECAUSE THEY TRIED!!!! They werent even targeting the tuna! Their captain said do y'all wanna try for a tuna? It's a fish of a lifetime! And they said ok and hooked a 100 pounder. Our charter had NOTHING to say to that. We got in truck and Left. Apparently chandler (the captain) called Sonny called and We explained to him what happened and our concerns and Not being satisfied or happy with our catch. Worst fishing experience I've ever had. We understand there is no guarantees when it comes to fishing or it would be called Catching. They made absolutely NO EFFORT to catch a tuna. after they got our money, they didn't care and when we voiced our concerns and why we were upset, instead of listening and trying to make it right, they got defensive and said we were ungrateful. When I pay $2400 for a service I expect That service to be provided and it was not. We didn't use up all the gas we paid for. I work hard for my money (unlike those guys who get to fish all day for a living). I didn't book a fishing trip I booked a tuna trip!!!! Their website is all bells and whistles and they don't live up to the reputation they claim to have. Never again. I guess they don't know that word of Mouth from personal experience is the best advertisement they can get OR NOT!!!!!
