I was torn between a 3 or 4 star rating, so it is more of a 3.5 rating for our first time here…read more *Please note that wifi is non existent in the rooms. They only work well in the reception and dining areas (level 0 and -1). They issue a key ID that is good for 7 days and one device, so if you have multiple devices, ask for several key IDs. Check in/Check out: We arrived late in the evening around 10pm but there were no issues. We were able to check in with ease and the front desk staff gave us all we needed for our weekend stay. Check out was not an issue as well, very easy and without any troubles. The staff here are very helpful. They also helped me make my reservation over the phone even though my Spanish speaking skills are non existent. The hotel also gives a big locker for your equipment that is located just below the lifts on the -2 level of the parking garage. All you need to do is leave a 20€ deposit with them and get it back after returning the keys. Car Parking: located on -2 level, so upon arriving, just look for signs. Bring your parking ticket with you when checking in. They will stamp it and this gives you a discount for parking. They will instruct you to bring this discounted ticket to -3 level of the parking garage and you can pay ahead of time. Very easy and a good rate. Location: You can't get a better location than this. The hotel is situated in the main plaza area that is the hub for getting lift tickets, rental equipment, and restaurants. This was the winning factor for us. it was very convenient for us to walk out of the hotel and be in the plaza without having to walk up and down any hills. Rooms/Dining: The hotel itself has an older feel but overall it is nice and cozy. We were given a room on the -3 level that faced part of the mountain. Overall, the cleanliness of the room and facilities were good. The only negative feeling about the room was that the beds were very uncomfortable (which gives the 3.5 rating). We had two twin beds pushed together and Thin mattresses. You could feel the bed springs with any movement you make. The floors are tiled and cold so bring warm slippers to walk. Walls are thin so if you're a light sleeper, take note of this. There is a safe and small refrigerator provided in the room. Our rate included breakfast buffet. Hours are from 8-11am and can be very busy the first hour as people are trying to load up before the lifts open. They offer hot and cold items and plenty of beverage choices. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here. The only problem we had was the bed. After a long day of snowboarding, it would be nice to be able to have a bed you could easily fall asleep in. I've read lots of reviews about this place and the common issue is mostly the uncomfortable beds and wifi issues in the rooms. Hopefully the hotel can take note of this to improve their facilities.

This review is for "the Lodge" which is different to Maribel although same owner…read more The place is beautiful, cozy and leveled with any great hotel I've been to in ski resorts over the world. Couldn't say the same about the treatment i got. What a pity because i would've stayed there since its world class if it wasn't for our experience. To begin with, there was close to a 10% clientele at the moment. Even though we weren't staying there, we made a reservation for lunch for four (there was only another table of two) and stayed later for drinks and moved to their beautiful lounge to continue enjoying drinks. It's safe to say we were counted within the few consuming there as the resort (Sierra Nevada) had closed for the rest of the week (bad weather). There was a waiter who took the liberty of treating us badly while he could've called his manager before escalating. Eventually the manager came around, Ms. Ruth, and to my experience, handled really badly the situation. She seemed to not care about our experience with her employee (mind you quite unprofessional), and proceeded to - regardless of our feed back - defend at all costs this waiter. Not only that, but she told us she wouldn't serve us another drink after this. We were very uncomfortable and although i initially thought if i ever came back to Sierra Nevada i would stay there, under no circumstances i would ever stay there after these events. I have travelled the world, stayed at amazing hotels but this was bad enough to even never recommend this place to any of my friends or followers. I think, without much knowledge, these two people we were left to deal with, may had not have the experience necessary to handle a situation as such. Regardless, they represent the brand.. we all left with a terrible feeling.

This hotel has recently reopened after burning down a few years ago. It's brand new and it is…read morefantastic. The decorations are amazing with tons of attention directed to every last detail. Can't say enough good things about the accommodations. Large flat screen tv, amazing bed, private Jacuzzi, and more. The service is decent, they bring you up and down from slopes entrance. You may wonder then why the 4 stars? The food at their restaurant is terrible, horribly overpriced and with mediocre service. I ordered lamb chops, medium rare, they came well done, the lentil soup was terrible, same for sashimi and my wife's fish was barely edible amd lacked flavor, lamb chops came with French fries that look like they came out of bag. I recommend this hotel to find a new chef immediately and at least learn to fry proper french fries and learn correct temperature of food. We didn't make a huge deal as the atmosphere is VERY stuffy and we had already turned back one of the plates. Another reason for 4 stars was one of the bell boys was going to get with concierge to get us recommendations for Granada, they never came. Overall, I highly recommend hotel, just don't eat there and don't expect consisted $500/day service.
