I've been here at least four times since discovering it. They are welcoming of children, and even give little treats. The goat cheese tart is outstanding, as are the little sugar croquettes that are served with the coffee. My son is partial to the fruit-filled briochettes.

Excellent bread. Back to Café Schöner! The cakes and coffee are good. It is populated by a cross section of customers of all ages. The only major drawback are the twenty steps to get down to the toilet...which is very clean. There and back is forty stairs. So watch it if you are old, hip or painful leg problems. The staff are very helpful and mainly speak English...as long as you don't ask them if they do! I just assume that their English is good, well spoken etc. and it is.
