She followed me around the store, constantly pressuring me to make a purchase and even tried to rush me to the checkout. She repeatedly misled me about a VIP promotion, claiming I'd get a coupon I could use right away. When I asked if it applied to the lipsticks I was interested in, she said yes -- but conveniently failed to mention it was only valid on a $150 minimum purchase and limited to certain brands. After I spent time carefully picking out items, the cashier informed me the coupon couldn't even be used on most of them. It felt like the whole thing was just a tactic to boost her commission before the end of her shift. I honestly don't understand how a major store would hire someone like that -- dishonest, aggressive, and clearly not focused on customer experience.

So what puts the 'Supreme' in this Sasa outpost? According to their website, it's a concept store providing a comprehensive cosmetics selection in addition to beauty and styling services. What I noticed: an open layout, tons of space to roam without bumping elbows with anyone, so many more products than the regular Sasa stores, and better product availability within certain cosmetic lines. I didn't end up going home with any cosmetics (I tend to prefer department store lines), but I did find my beloved Nuxe line and at a very competitive price offering. I took home a large shower gel and a shampoo for about $225 HKD - not bad for this French line that smells sensual yet fresh (in a 'warm' kind of way) at the same time. I also have the perfume (purchased in Paris) and so many strangers stop me to inquire about my fragrance. It's a good one! I'll definitely be back when it's time to get my hands on more Nuxe goodies.

But if you are a skin care guru like myself and like to dabble in all things beauty and skin care, Sasa is a good place to spend some time and browse around. Lots of Korean, Chinese and Japanese skin care brands you cannot easily find in the US. They sell a vast variety of brands from low end like Nutrogena & Burts Bees to high end like SK-II and La Mer, and many brands in between. Skin care appears to be about 65% of their business model, with make-up lines, lotions, shampoos, etc. making up the other 35%. It is not that their prices are any less expensive necessarily, simply they have more brands and more variety in one store. Skin care can be tricky and you can get lost in a sea of serums, masks, lotions and creams if you are not knowledgable in places like this. Sasa has a website in which you can look at brands in English that appear only in another language when you are looking at the packaging in the actual store. I bought a lymphatic massage and facial déclore treatment for 56HKD. Honestly I bought it for the massage, the skin treatment was just an add-on I didn't care much about. I got there this evening, after two days of working at a fair walking and standing on high heels and I felt completely drained of energy. I just wanted to lay on bed. They asked me to fill in some info about myself and led me to the room. The masseuse, who's one of the managers, explained the point of the massage to me and warned me that it could be a little painful however it turned out to be quite pleasant. She was very professional and made every movement with a lot of CARE. That lasted for about an hour and she then introduced me to the skin therapist who examined my skin and recommended some treatment, all included within my coupon. I agreed and just trusted her for the rest of the hour of AMAZING service. Mask for the eyes, for the mouth, for the rest of the face skin, even for the hands! And omg, she even reshaped my eyebrows. What a great professional. Seriously, I had to tell her. The last part of the session I had the mask on for (I think) 20 minutes, but I was so relaxed and happy I fell asleep and dreamed! When I came out she explained to me various treatments I could follow according to my skin type and told me I could get the trial price by leaving a deposit of 100HKD. Since I didn't know when or whether I could come back, I decided not to but it's a good offer. She didn't push me to decide on the spot at all but gave me the manager card to contact her directly for appointment. Just amazing...my skin looks so nice, and I'm sooo chilled out I'll be on my way to bed very soon.

They do not have any other stores, just this one. With it being in this location, makes it very popular for those crossing the border trying to get deals. There are indeed deals to be had here. The store can get crowded at times because it is rather small and cozy. If you would like to visit, suggest early in the morning when the crowds have not arrived yet. The answer is quite simple: its cheap. Everything you find in here will be cheaper than anywhere you can find in TST or for that matter- Hong Kong. You will not get any friendly service or a nice shopping environment to let you choose what you want; its a smash and grab situation where you head in there and just take anything you see as if you were breaking in. The constant number of tourists both inside and outside the shop will also remind you that its not only locals that come here, many come across the border specifically to stock up on these items and there is nowhere else they would choose but this place. This shop is a sight to be seen in a sense, I think a lot of people from abroad will find it interesting how hoards of people are piling into this little shop and literally climbing over each other for some soap. Anyway, the Greek have beautiful lands, especially futile for cultivating organic products. I normally use the lip balm, shampoo, conditioner and masks from here. The store in Causeway is great, because it's convenient and the shop attendants are helpful in suggesting what is good for your skin type. My skin is on the dry side, so the shop attendant recommended a few masks for me to use, including the royal jelly, propolis, and pomegranate. One package can last me two nights, which makes it really reasonable to buy compared to some other masks. After using the royal jelly mask, i felt like my skin was glowing for a few days after using it. I love the feeling you get when you wash your face off and feel your face for the first time! The eye masks are also great, they are ultra moisturising and soft. I accidentally got some into my eye while washing the mask off, in the beginning, i felt my eyes a little blurry but after a few moments, it was fine, didn't sting at all. Way better than any U.S. brands. Perfect for Asian skin tone. 3. Eyeliners. Go nuts. There are so many shades. So soft and so pretty. This is a smaller outfit, the Tokyo ones have much more selection, and you can certainly see there is a difference in terms what people in HK are looking for, judging by what they have on offer, but this is pretty neat little store. Buy the cosmetics, replenish your backup supplies, while waiting for your number to be called at the nearby restaurant. A winner. Totally underrated cosmetic brand perfect for our skin tone.

I think one thing people don't know is that besides affordable products that are mostly imports from Korea and Japan, Sasa also stocks high-end brands like La Prairie and La Mer. They're way in the back of the store and displayed behind locked cabinets, so you will have to ask the sales ladies to help you with them. The advantage of buying high-end products here is that they are usually cheaper than if you buy them at the actual stores. Products from brands like these are no doubt expensive, so why not get the exact same thing for cheaper? The disadvantage, though, is that you don't get the A-list treatment that you would if you were shopping in, say, Lane Crawford. You probably won't get to sit down in a lush chair and allow the sales lady to let you try all their products, knowing you have your eye set on just one thing and nothing else. You likely won't be able to leave with free testers either - but who cares, if you're able to buy something with about a $100 knocked off its price? My mother has bought skincare gifts for friends from here before and they have no idea she got a better deal for them at Sasa! I've found that the sales ladies at Sasa aren't the most helpful people on earth - for example, I've asked for their cotton pads and they just kind of point vaguely in the direction that it's in. If I'm in a hurry, I usually have to try my luck and ask for where something is rather than scanning all the aisles and looking for myself because Sasa is quite big and if I'm not familiar with that particular branch, it would take me a while to locate what I want. All in all, I would choose going to Sasa over Watsons and Mannings any day. The items are cheaper, and for things like makeup, there's a much larger variety for you to choose from! However, speaking of price, some things are cheaper at their competitor, Bonjour. Bonjour isn't as varied as Sasa though and between the two, you're more likely to find what you want at Sasa!
