My fiance and I had been working with another company to this point on other orders but they were closed for the holiday weekend. Kat shared that if I got info to her on Friday, 7/2, I'd receive proofs that night. I didn't receive proofs until late afternoon of 7/6 and after our original company sent proofs after returning from the holiday. Kat & MEDiAHEAD's proofs were incorrect and late. I did not approve any proofs or agree to anything. Kat sends the email that's attached the night before our wedding. As this point, my only interactions with her is our conversation on 7/2. I went to their office to speak with a manager or someone not named Kat. Their staff seemed very aloof and not sure who else to talk to. I spoke with Mike and he joked that Kat can be a handful. He was not assuring or provided any support before telling Kat I was there. Mike was in no way helpful. I spoke with Kat and she was not authentic I her apology. She felt calling me a scumbag was warranted because I had ghosted her, held up her staff, and she had a bad day. She also shared that she apologized to the venue that referred us to her. If it wasnt for me coming to their office, the only apology that would have been issued was to the venue and not the actual person who was called a scumbag. She had put the effort in to reach out to the venue and she had the effort to craft an email to tell me I'm a scumbag but could find the effort to admit any fault. Very disappointing. Additionally, she accused me of having shared their artwork with our original printer. That is entirely untrue and not possible given I received proofs from MEDiAHEAD AFTER the other company. From being called a scumbag for not purchasing nameplates, being alleged to sharing proprietary artwork with a competitor, to having my interactions downplayed, my experiences with Kat and the team at MEDiAHEAD was awful and would not recommend.

Ergh. I'm no copy editor (though I am a former English major) but the first couple times I gave Ink a try, I was astounded by the amount of simple grammatical errors littered throughout the whole publication. Perhaps their editing has stepped it up a notch but...I wouldn't know. I don't feel the need to pick it up anymore. *edit* Now that I think about it, I know they messed up quotations a friend of mine gave about a fashion show he styled AND Ink staff took credit for the photo he took and submitted for the article. No thanks.

I'm going to leave the politics out of this because we all know that mixing media and criticism can be a dangerous game. So this review is really to bring about attention to the folks who are behind Ink. So far I'm pretty pleased with their offering and even feel like their story generation and content is a departure from local competing media. For me to actually sit and read papers like this takes a focus on content, not spam ads on every other page. I like to actually see local news and community insiders or professionals giving insights on various topics. Ink has done a pretty good job so far in my opinion with bringing some locality to their stories and steering clear of just being a reviews paper. Right now, their headlining stories have been great and their event picks are always fun to glance out, especially the design of the weeklong layout in the center of the paper. Love that.
