After 10 days in the hospital from a 5 hour spinal surgery, I was transferred to the facility in Atascadero. I was treated well, respectfully and professionally . Everyone from the staff, the CNA's to the janitors were friendly and courteous. Mary was such a sweetheart helping me navigate the paperwork and was there checking on me. I wish I could have remembered more names but Scott was on the spot with my pain meds and even remembered when I forgot to request them and reminded me when the next disbursement was because it can be confusing. The 2 others that went out of their way to make my stay as pleasant as possible was Lauren (I hope I spelled it right) and Jessica. Kimberly in records was so easy to work with. In fact, I asked for a copy of something to be sent to my email and I think it was in my email before I got back to my room. That's unheard of these days. As far as Jessica and Lauren, they had me smiling and comfortable. They were just so attentive, professional and just so kind to me and I saw them treat others the same way. They truly take their job seriously. When It was time for me to go, I didn't get to thank them enough. I'm sorry if I didn't recognize everyone but those I mentioned made my stay very comfortable. I mentioned that I had spinal surgery and I was initially in incredible pain but I had the best care and it was a nice place to recover. I wish I could have thanked them all and remembered all of their names. Bravo. If anyone is apprehensive, please relax and be assured, it's a decent, clean, and safe place to be if you have to be in a skilled nursing facility.

The caregivers are ALL very sweet, caring and most importantly, genuine! The owners are lovely lovely people and are almost always there when we visit. You can tell that everyone takes a personal interest in the patients and no one is "pretending". Each time I walk in, something impressive is happening... their meals are all very well organized, planned and served, my grandma is having her hair curled, she has been set up cozy to watch TV, they are having a birthday party, etc... She has a friend that she really enjoys there and the owners have taken them out to dinner together, to see the Nutcracker, to the beach... the list goes on and on. I cannot imagine a better place for my grandma to be. She will even tell you that she likes it there and that they take very good care of her- unusual words for my grandma! And, the facility is VERY CLEAN! My 2 year old zooms his cars all over the living room and I have not seen one speck of dust or dirt here... impressively clean. I think this is a lovely place run by devoted people who really care about the elderly. Each time I visit her I am more and more impressed with the level of care and love that Paradise offers. I cannot thank them enough for taking such GREAT care of my grandma.

It was a very hard decision for my niece and her husband to make the decision to move our sister into a facility, but after visiting there today, I realize that they made the absolute best decision for our oldest sister. The care is absolutely wonderful! It's a lovely home and when you walk in you don't smell anything negative, like urine. The area that it is in we saw a deer and her two fauns. I can imagine how beautiful it is in the spring with the grass all green. It has a lovely swimming pool of course our sister never used it. A lovely shaded patio area for family visits. We could tell the other residence of this home were being very well taken care of and seemed to be very happy there. I am so glad my niece and her husband chose this home for our sister. I can't remember the owner's name, but she was so attentive to our sister and the other residents. I don't think you could find a better place for a beloved family member who is not able to live alone. We are so grateful for the care that they're giving our sister.

They went so far as to have the group do physical therapy exercises with my husband so he would do them. It felt like home; since it was hard to have my spouse leave our home, it was such a relief that he said multiple times that if he couldn't be home, he wanted to be there. Weather permitting, they have a BBQ for residents & families on Thursdays and afternoon tea daily. I am so glad they are there!

If I were considering putting my loved on in Atascadero Christian Community,…read more I WOULD: *Contact DSS Licensing ( 1 844 538 8766) and  and ask for a history report Licensed Assisted Living Facility  #405802003 and get a full report of the history of complaints and concerns. *I would Google pcseniorservices.org , ask what is Country Care, or what WAS country care? Who the former admin and controller were for both Country Care and ACC, and what salary they paid themselves. https://apps.irs.gov/pub/epostcard/cor/952078722_202009_990_2021040617904406.pdf ( ACC is a non profit, and non profit financials are public information). https://www.salary.com/research/salary/posting/assisted-living-administrator-salary/ca I would be like, Wow! Almost double the national average, that must have been some amazing Directing!  *Just to be safe, I would ask about  allegations of elder abuse https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-2003-feb-26-me-abuse26-story.html https://www.sanluisobispo.com/news/local/article110262942.html * I would ask about bankruptcies https://www.sanluisobispo.com/news/local/article171928897.html *I would ask what ties the current administration have with the previous * I would ask if there is a nurse on staff ( not home health, not hospice.....on staff) *I would ask about PCAs and Med techs, med errors, Ask if ANYONE has ever made a joke about a "benzo. cocktail and what does that really mean? And if yes, it was joked about (over and over again) who made the joke? And how high up the leadership chain are they? Are they regular staff? Are they Senior Staff? *I would ask how many physicians represent a majority of the residents. Ask for a name (s) * I would ask for an estimate of how many meds are passed in the AM med passing. *I would ask specific staff to resident ratios and how many days/ hours straight these girls have worked( And the PCAs do work incredibly hard) *I would ask to tour and meet with the Administrator, not his " right hand gal/ fellow Senior Staff" not the new CEO. Do a deep dive! *I would ask to tour the bottom floor of the 20 building * I would ask to spend 20 to 30 minutes near the smokers shed by the back gardens ( then I would do a surprise follow up visit a day or so later, just to make sure  I got a full picture) * I would ask about rodents, big rats, specifically * If it's the name "Christian" that drew me to the facility, I would ask to meet with the leadership ( Wellness Director, Kitchen Manager, Activities Director,, Bethesda House I would (hurry on that one)) I would interview them, ask them how their faith and values line up with ACCs promise to "Lead and care for our residents with a  christ centered lifestyle" I would always check individuals fb's, you know how this younger generation loves to just "put it all out there" *I would ask if any of those two glowing reviews came from a staff member, because I know that you really need to fact check all reviews, good and bad, that people put on the internet. * Lastly I would say, Hey, wait a minute! "Why aren't any of the staff asking these questions or telling the truth about and to the current administration?" Maybe they DID, and they're no longer employed with the company as a result!   If you're considering Atascadero Christian Community,  you should: *Do your REAL research. What  does it matter how beautiful the outside of anything is? Dig deep!!! * Just because something was founded on certain values and principles, do not assume they still hold them today. * And lastly, do not be blinded by titles like, Pastor, Professor, Dig deep! Your loved one depends on you and your level of research.
