I burned myself trying to get it back in place while a fire was active, and I had to deal with an urgent mess at the worst possible time of year. The air tube fell on a log and rolled within inches of the glass, I contacted the company immediately with photos. The owner admitted the technician had been making "a few mistakes recently," yet the situation was downplayed. Ultimately I had to fix it myself because I couldn't wait in freezing conditions and risk further damage. Their idea of "making it right"? A $100 coupon for a future service. After the disruption and the negligence, I'm not trusting them in my home again--so a coupon is meaningless. What really sealed it: The owner's response was condescending and dismissive, telling me I "blew this way out of proportion" and that my understanding was "flawed," instead of taking accountability for a simple but critical failure to reassemble equipment correctly. I compare it to getting your tires rotated and the tech forgetting to put the lugs back on. If you value competent workmanship, urgency when something goes wrong, and professional customer service, AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS. It's possible that they've hired somebody else since those reviews? Either way, it was not a problem for me, and the owner Jason was always very responsive, professional, and agreeable when I called or texted him, as were the techs who did the install. I first had American Air out last fall to look at my heat pump due to it tripping the breaker. The technician was friendly, knowledgeable, and didn't try to upsell me on a new unit or extensive repair. After checking line pressures, he explained that the system, while nearing the end of its life, was okay for the time being. Service charge was minimal. Because of the good experience, I kept them in mind for when I wanted to upgrade. Then this week I hired American Air to upgrade the 20 year old heat pump with a new, more efficient Gree unit. They were timely and friendly in all our communication leading up to the install, including coming out to give the quote. On the day of install, the technicians arrived on time and reviewed the indoor unit location, eventually proposing a better install configuration (hung from the ceiling) at no extra cost beyond the initial quote despite increased effort. They went over each step of the install with me, including where I wanted the cold air return vent moved to. Techs worked efficiently and were happy with me checking in on progress from time to time. Going over the finished install, I was impressed with the level of quality and attention to detail. When moving the cold air vent, they were careful not to damage the floor or joists in the process. They patched any holes in the exterior wall from previous line runs, correctly fixed new wire runs, and strapped and repaired my existing ducting (without being asked or necessarily expected). All trash, debris, etc... was cleaned up and the basement/crawlspace was tidy when checked on. The new unit they installed is great, extremely quiet and efficient. The install cost was agreeable and affordable for the services rendered. Overall I had a great experience with American Air and would highly recommend them. The fact that the home has antique logs should have been a primary focus of an inspection. I assumed since no major problems with the logs were addressed in the inspection, that the logs were sound. Earlier this summer of 2020, I inspected the logs, beginning at the sills and working up. I found large areas of wood rot along the sills and a huge corner log joint rotten.
