My mother-in-law thought my (now ex-) wife and I would enjoy this place. We went on a Thursday night. There were fewer than 10 customers when we arrived and less and less people as time went by. We were seated in a nicely decorated dining area, but the back door was open. The chef/co-owner was smoking outside with several customers. We could smell the cigarette smoke coming in. Eventually we asked the waiter (another co-owner) to close the door, but smokers kept going out and leaving it open (including the chef, again). After ordering drinks, only two of our party received what they wanted. My wife did not get her drink until she reminded them of her order (some 10 minutes after the first drinks were delivered). Things got progressively worse. When the appetizers arrived the waiter (apparently, also a co-owner) did not realize who had ordered what. My mother-in-law's dish had some fried goat cheese that was clearly over-cooked. Once we had finished the appetizers it took 10 minutes or so for someone to notice this, and take the plates away. After a long wait, our mains arrived (we seriously considered ordering out for pizza at this stage). The mains looked pretty, but were tasteless. My wife's lasagna was particularly bad (it was as if the chef had invented a machine that would suck the taste out of food). At some stage I ordered a second glass of wine, but once it did not appear until the waiter was reminded. When we paid the check (in cash as is common in many German restaurants) we left a small tip in the leather bill cover. As we were getting ready to leave, the waiter/co-owner came over and opened up the bill cover to look at how much of a tip we had given. Tacky! As we were leaving we noticed that the co-owner/waiter, who also was the bartender was drinking (we had noticed this during the evening as well: apparently he was more concerned about his own drink orders than ours). In short, this was the worst dining experience I ever had in Germany and I would not recommend this place to anyone who has taste buds, or who actually likes to receive a professional level of service. read more
