By the end of the appointment I made sure I would not deal with her again. Let me explain. I am 78 years old. I felt a lump in my right armpit a couple of months ago. I then phoned the personal physician I had for many years before moving. He asked if the lump was painful. It wasn't. He said I needed to see my current health care provider immediately. For starters, I would need blood work and a diagnostic mammogram. I then called my current health care provider, Arlington Medical Associates, to make an appointment. After explaining the symptoms to the office manager, I was scheduled to see Rohina Ahmed, a Nurse Practitioner. The office manager put a note on my records, "Lump in Armpit." Rohina Ahmed entered the exam room, apologizing for being late. Apparently she hadn't noticed the note on my file. "You're here for a follow-up visit. Right?" "Mm - no I have a lump in my right armpit." Rohina then started to rapidly go through my records, at the same time asking if cancer ran in my family. It did. Of course, it was in my records, but she clearly hadn't read my records until that very moment. I then expected her to ask if I had any symptoms like night sweats, fatigue, etc. She didn't. Instead she began going through my chart and mentioned that maybe I needed a thyroid test. She then noted that I hadn't had a colonoscopy in 10 years. At this point I decided to cut to the chase. I said I had previously spoken with a physician. He said I needed 2 things immediately: blood work and a diagnostic mammogram. Rohina asked me to wait a moment. She went in to consult with a physician in the medical practice. When she returned, she said we could proceed with a Routine Mammogram, and a Thyroid Test. I immediately walked into Dr. Vidwan's office, uninvited, and explained the situation. Dr. Vidwans edited Rohina's proposed directive. The thyroid test was scratched. The "routine mammogram screening" was changed to "a diagnostic mammogram." Dr. Vidwans then ordered my blood to be drawn immediately at the office so it could be sent in that day for testing by a lab. In short, my experience with Rohina Ahmed was that she came late. She hadn't a clue why I had made the appointment. She hadn't done her homework by reviewing my records. And she ordered tests that were not specifically relevant to my condition.

Kuperschmit, MD and his team)…read more Very disappointing billing experience Before my colonoscopy, I specifically asked whether the procedure would be billed and covered as preventive. The office staff and the doctor verbally assured me multiple times that it would be covered as preventive. We also requested predetermination confirmation before proceeding. The doctor said that preauthorization was sent to insurance, but I later learned that it was never submitted. That is a serious problem because I relied on their statements when deciding to move forward with the procedure. After the procedure, I received a large bill because the claim was submitted under a different CPT code after a polyp was found and removed. I am not disputing that removing a polyp may be medically appropriate. My issue is that no one clearly warned me beforehand that this could change the billing outcome and create major patient responsibility. Patients should not be reassured that something is covered as preventive, told that insurance confirmation will be handled, and then later be surprised with a large bill due to coding changes and lack of actual predetermination. I am disputing the bill and requesting a billing review. I would strongly recommend getting every billing, coding, and insurance statement from this office in writing before proceeding.

My daughter has been sick for over 3 years. My daughter was losing hope - she feared she would not see her 28th birthday, that scared me when I heard that. She now has hope! We had been to every doctor imaginable, cardio, endo, psych, GI, neuro, gyn, multiple PCP's, spent last June and July at Mayo, then back to Hopkins, rheumatologists, hematologists, the list was endless, she was too complicated. Every day was filled with doctors and tests, my daughter became a shell of the once vivacious, brilliant, bright eyed kindergarten teacher that she was. She no longer drove, slept 24/7, could barely lift her arms, shower herself, had half of her colon removed last April and the rest in August and yet she still had severe GI issues! Finally a doctor suggested NIHA, she was hesitant - not me - we have spent thousands plus a colon - I needed no convincing! Dr. Gant spent 6 hours with us, took 20+ vials of blood, tested for several different Lyme diseases, allergies and sent out a stool DNA - which you think would have been done at MAYO or Hopkins or anywhere else before her first rectoplexy and then complete colon removal!!! THIS WAS THE DOCTOR WHO TREATED THE WHOLE PACKAGE! Well, to our surprise - she had several different kinds of Lyme!, parasites that had paralyzed her small intestine! and heavy metals in her urine which is the reason she was not able to shower, bathe, wash her hair, - her own water was poisoning her! She had food allergies similar to celiac yet she does not have celiac - she basically lives on a gluten free diet, takes enzymes to digest meats and vegetables since she no longer has a colon. She takes supplements for the lyme - her lyme levels are low now and under control - she has chronic lyme disease and will always have to treat it! She has low IG levels and must take gamma globulin infusions, which she is in a trial for thanks to Dr. Gant and no thanks to United Health Care who has turned her down, twice but which the Doctors office(NIHA) continues to fight! She has parasites from her world travels during her college years to Costa Rica (2X), Turkey, Morrocco, England, France, Italy, South America; which I told every doctor about and was ignored. She was diagnosed a couple of years ago with H Pylori and given one dose of antibiotics and never tested again to make sure it was gone. Parasites multiply, hide and are difficult to get rid of, they thrive in your intestines. She has now been on several repeat doses of strong antibiotics after completing a regiment of supplements to get rid of them and when you can witness them leaving your body - you know you have found the right doctor!!! He tested for allergies - which we requested before and were ignored - simple things like chicken eggs, all grains, yeasts, some veggies, spices - a diet change has made a huge difference in her life - it was not simple or easy but necessary. She was diagnosed with POTS, NMH, fibromyalgia, has had 2 PE's endometriosis, low blood pressure, has had syncope every day, multiple times a day for over three years and is now over 3 months w/o a blackout!!!!!!!! So all you unbelievers - rethink your regiment and do not believe everything your doctor tells you! At one point she was on 17 different medications a day, we were setting alarms to remind her to take them multiple times a day. PCP's are not well versed in Lyme, the CDC is just starting to believe in chronic lyme disease - so many of these diseases mimic the same symptoms - please continue to search other options - do not be afraid to try the holistic approach - you might become a believer! I am seeing my daughter go from a disabled young woman to a woman who is trying to work again! She still has her limits but in a short time she will be able to drive again and will gain her independence, that alone will be a boost to her mental and physical health! If someone's experience is less than stellar, or they were not cured does not make this practice bogus, they may have another issue or they are too cheap to pay the price for their health, or they want medication or are not willing or patient enough to try this approach - I am willing to go to the end of the earth to help my daughter become whole again, to live her life again even if it is not the life she planned. If one person reading this is helped, I will be happy, if one person is able to gain some insight into alternative medicine, then I will be happy, because I have seen the difference it can make. Because…read moreof my health issues, I have found that integrative practices are more equipped to understand and handle my issues. Unfortunately, my experience with the office has not been good. Up front, I will say that the dental hygienist, Lori does a great job. I would say that the two dentists are also good and caring. So why the terrible rating? First, expect to wait forever for your visit. They are never on time. I have had to wait upwards of an hour. The best option is to get in there for the first appointment and hope they show up on time. Second, you have to pay attention to the billing. They make mistakes all the time. I have had to call in and get corrections on several occasions. Third and final, they cancel appointments all the time. I have no clue what is going on with the office and the dentist but the constant rescheduling is terrible. I am currently is search of another dentist office as I can no longer deal with the mess. Which is sad, because as I said the doctors and hygienist are good people. But the office is clearly not well run.

Consistently they're so responsive, professional, and kind. June, who helps with insurance, has been dependably diligent. And remarkably patient, too, now that I've finally switched over to Medicare as my primary insurance. One final point, about the high standard for customer service. The culture of service at the Kaplan Center really stands out for me. Such authentic caring, personal commitment to service, and professional excellence. It just shines through. We were not even in the building for that long. We waited about 30 mins for the doctor and saw him for no more than 30 mins. When I explained this to front desk they said there was nothing they could do because when Doc enters the room he starts the timer at the door. I was stuck with the bill and obviously none too happy. Thankfully, my insurance covered more than 50% of it. Just be aware of your time there and double check with the desk before you leave that they have the correct time recorded.

Cons: no live wait time on website, registration staff who truly DGAF, dirty waiting area Wait time: 2.3 hours just to get into an exam room (I was balled up in a corner in pain and begged for a blanket because it was cold inside and 50 degrees outside. They triaged me, took blood and urine and had me remain in the waiting room. Once I actually got into an exam room, things started to move more quickly. Care: Dr. Sidara was actually the saving grace here. He was incredibly nice and thorough, spoke to me with respect and care, and worked to address my issues as soon as possible. He was even able to pull info from past doctors visits, which included a slight ear infection and double checked my ears while I was there to make sure he didn't miss anything further. I won't go into all of the details of what he discovered, but had he not caught one thing in particular, I might still be in excruciating pain. What I didn't like is the fact that I was in an exam room for maybe 30 minutes, then they took me to get a CT. And once I finished the CT, I was not taken back to the exam room, but taken to the "results waiting" room. There, my IV hung in front of me, without being connected, for about an hour. When all of my results were back, the doctor returned to me and told me all the findings and the plan moving forward. I do wish they would have kept me overnight so that I could continue to be monitored and receive pain management medication, but I understand that's not necessarily typical treatment for what I was experiencing. Shortly after the doctor checked in with me, my discharge papers were drafted, and I was on my way out. I was there from 3:50-9 p.m. ish.

The app only allowed me to choose a follow up appointment, this was in response to test results from my primary care provider. If the system wasn't supposed to let me do that, that's an issue on their end, not mine. I drove over 50 minutes to this appointment, only to get a call in the parking lot telling me they didn't know how I was able to schedule and that I shouldn't have made the appointment the way I did. Instead of listening or troubleshooting, the front desk staff kept arguing with me and insisting I booked it wrong even after I explained that their own app allowed it. It was frustrating and honestly felt very dismissive. This was especially disappointing because I was referred here by my primary care provider, so I came in expecting a smooth and professional experience. On top of that, I had been waiting for some time. someone from the office was supposed to call me to schedule in the first place, and no one ever did. When I called myself, I was told I would get a callback...which never happened. At that point, I decided it was better to leave and find another office. The front desk is often a reflection of the professionalism and care within the rest of the practice, and based on this, I didn't feel confident moving forward. A healthcare office should be understanding, solutions oriented and respectful of patients' time, especially when the patient has driven nearly an hour to get there.
