They let his older brother join in class to encourage my 4 year old to participate. Alas, he was a stubborn one and sat out the remainder of class. His older brother finished that class as well as the one I originally signed him and his sister for. The instructors were fantastic. Despite having a large class, they kept all the students engaged and constantly working. The strength training and the practice was everything I hoped for. This is a legit gym and I would definitely enroll my kids here.

They teach focus, energy, respect, discipline and many other facets of Tae Kwon Do that help the children grow and thrive. My children love coming here and ask every day if we can go. You can tell that they really care about the kids learning and how they progressed within the program. My kids have enjoyed it so much and also in the few months that they've been here they have learned how to be more patient, respectful, confident, and more disciplined. They constantly are learning to be better in each class and to try their very best and it really teaches them all these wonderful life skills. Also, I like that that they are take the extra necessary steps to keep every safe during the pandemic with masking and sanitizing. I would recommend this place to anyone (adult and/or child) looking to learn martial arts.

My kids have been part of the Ganbaru family for a few months now, and they enjoy every class and love their Sensei. The class is well organized. All kids get to participate and learn. They use real Japanese Karate terminology. The instructors are knowledgeable and you can tell their love for the art. They teach traditional shotokan karate. I recommend this place 100%.

This is the only good kukiwon taekwondo gym in katy. I know as I tried 14 gyms (yes, there are 14…read morenot all kukiwon though) I could write pages about how bad most gyms in katy are, and how they have unqualified teachers with low degrees teaching for low pay, as it's just a business to those gyms, but I want to focus on how amazing Black Dragon is Master Seong is an amazing instructor and is an 8th degree black belt. He teaches all the classes and it is easy to see he lives taekwondo. It does not seem like a business to him, but his life. This gym is not easy. It should not be if you want to get better at martial arts. He will not just pass students to other belts until they are actually ready, unlike many gyms. Students are well behaved as he pays a lot of attention to his students and teaching. The gym is clean, staff are all friendly, and they have many classes at different times, to fit busy schedules. My kids were both already black belts and we all had 5 years taekwondo experience before we had to move to katy. We were sad to have to leave the gym we loved, but very happy to have a new martial arts family at Black Dragon where I can see improvement every day still..

Recommend most highly. An excellent, no-nonsense judo classes for kids and (to a lesser extent)…read moreadults alike. Small class with extremely dedicated students - practically no churn from the year my son has ad hoc attended. Sensei Mr. Oleg and his twin sons Ruslan & Danil have unquestionably endeared themselves to students. All the while with a bona fide "Gulag" workout regime. Apopros as they are Ukrainian. The classes are taught largely in Russian. My son is 100% gringo but a near-fluent Russian speaker. Any child or adult can take these classes; English as necessary. What I like in particular is the 100% confidence the kids have with the 3 Sensei. Quasimodo would progress quickly with this training regimen; its that good. No fool around, no coddling but total encouragement. Heavy focus on flexibility. Heavy hand to hand combat focus. This is not a chain-business, cookie-cutter training approach. Pays off when you see your kid win at the international judo competitions in which Kara Judo often participates.
