Master Hong was very patient and answered all of our questions. The kids also felt very comfortable from the start with him and the other instructors. This continues to this day, it wasn't just a fleeting act for their "audition" or first few classes, all the instructors are very helpful and care about their students. Small class with extremely dedicated students - practically no churn from the year my son has ad hoc attended. Sensei Mr. Oleg and his twin sons Ruslan & Danil have unquestionably endeared themselves to students. All the while with a bona fide "Gulag" workout regime. Apopros as they are Ukrainian. The classes are taught largely in Russian. My son is 100% gringo but a near-fluent Russian speaker. Any child or adult can take these classes; English as necessary. What I like in particular is the 100% confidence the kids have with the 3 Sensei. Quasimodo would progress quickly with this training regimen; its that good. No fool around, no coddling but total encouragement. Heavy focus on flexibility. Heavy hand to hand combat focus. This is not a chain-business, cookie-cutter training approach. Pays off when you see your kid win at the international judo competitions in which Kara Judo often participates.

You immediately feel calm walking into this place for the first time. You will learn to move fast and hit hard in this location, but more importantly, you will have a fun time while learning about mutual respect and discipline. His instructor's instructor directed the Special Forces during the Vietnam War; he has been trained well and has a lot to show anyone who walks in.

After going through countless phone calls and online searches, I found Meng's Martial Arts. Facility is clean, spacious and well maintained. Plenty of room for students to exercise and learn. Diverse class and Sifu Ryan usually has an extra set of helpers/assistants to assist the students. The staff is very attentive and gives a lot of emotional and physical support. The Tiny Tiger program (ages 4-7 I think) meet 3 times a week, for 45 minutes which I believe is great in addition to their reasonable prices! The class is more than just being physical and learning self defense. My son has learned to be more respectful and disciplined, to have more self control and awareness. His attitude has changed so much, and he's made new friends! Parents are more than welcome to lounge around in the lobby, or sit on the sidelines and observe the class.
