This mural is located in the heart of downtown Indianapolis. It was created in 2011 by Micheal Cooper as part of the 46 for XLVI murals initiative sponsored by the Arts Council of Indianapolis. The mural is painted on a four-story building with five apartments in it. It covers pretty much the entire building.
In 2019, the owners of Daniel's Vineyard, Daniel and Kimberly Cook, purchased the building that the mural is on. After some brief uncertainty, they said
The artist does an excellent job creating a 3D illusion using shadows. It really looks as if a man is standing on a ladder and applying wallpaper to the side of the building. Ironically, the wallpaper looks like the actual building, hence the illusion. The artist's intent was to celebrates the expansion, excitement and creativity of Indianapolis. This is one of my favorite murals and I do not know why it has not gotten a lot of love.
There is tons of metered street parking available nearby, but this is not a very long stop and would probably be better served being part of a larger itinerary of other murals, public art and local city flavor. There is a lot to see in that area. You can also probably get a pretty good look of the mural from the comfort of your vehicle doing a slow rolling drive by. read more
